Haven't played yet, but I've heard it's almost as good as the original, which would be a rare occurrence these days.

Finished this last night and overall I would say it is excellent. While not quite as free roaming as the first, it has much higher production values and feels much slicker. My only gripes are that I would have liked more side quests in the hubs and I don't like boss battles, but they're minor gripes compared to the game as a whole.

Now to decide whether to pick up Space Marine or Gears 3 on my way home :-)

Well, given that the DX1 devs didn't quite seem to grasp finer points of using Unreal Engine for visuals, it looked quite bad.

Didn't they outsource the boss battles to a company without the dimmest clue about what DeusEx is about?

How much of a complete moron does one have to be to do that?

Also, I've heard that endings suck (no spoilers please).

Still, pretty much everything else seems great.

The boss battles were annoying and I believe the company responsible did admit to not really knowing Deus Ex, still except for the first one they're not too taxing.

I only did one of the endings (I'm not somebody who likes to get the different endings, I play the one I want and that's it :-) ), it was a little preachy but ok. In fairness I rarely find any ending satisfactory.

All in all though, I did enjoy playing through it, the world is well put together and it's easy to pick faults in games, but in this case the good far outweighs the bad.

I decided to go for Space Marine in the end, I have a soft spot for the 40k universe and it was a nice change from all the sneaking around in Deus Ex :-)

I've only played the first hour or so, but so far it's a lot of fun. It's brash and bold and so far has a good 40k feel to it. I'd have preferred a different chapter than the Ultramarines, but that's just being picky :-)

The action is very immediate and there's a good mix of ranged and close quarter combat. It's not as polished as Gears, but it's a lot more in your face.
