    Whenever you talk about "people" so smugly (and that's not exclusively pointing at you) you should keep in mind that "people" like me are also included (I'm fairly sure not being an alien) and that you with such a sentence somehow seem to imply that I would agree with you. That's not the case. I'm very much in favor of removing things that are broken, weakly designed or just crap. I've "invested" far over 6000 hours btw, since this seems to have a meaning to you. Just saying, hopefully without opening another can of pointless debates. But please for heaven's sake speak for yourself and stop this ridiculous 'community speaker' attitudes. Thanks.

    Missions, like most everything else in E|D are a product of procedural generation. We aren't going to see handwritten mission paths. We'll continue to get standard contracts from factions that require mundane help staying profitable throughout the galaxy. It's our job to find our way through the maze.

    Out of the many idiotic moves he has made, i think that one was the most blatant and it still bites him where it hurts. We could write books about clueless management with that stuff. What, no it's not. It's barely acceptable for FPS development (and the code is a real mess... not to mention the wonky physics), completely out of purpose for a large scale 3D space game. They brought a banana to a gun fight. It has entertainment value... What ?? Did you read my posts at all or are you actually replying to someone else.. Are you mixing me up with those random cultists that pop in here from time to time ?

    We have had years worth of ideas presented and discussed in various places around these forums, and I have to believe that Frontier has followed at least some of them. I think perhaps my biggest concern here is that what they presented in bare bones does not really resemble those years with of feedback.

    i'm thinking about the slowest ships in the game with e rated engines and no engineering. about 130 m/s without access to perma boost (type-9). when designing something like this you have to consider the worst possible stats to allow every ship the ability to access said feature. if leaving from earth i have a hard time believing something like that has the thrust to weight ratio to even leave the landing pad let alone gain enough altitude to engage super cruise. they will find a way for sure but with current mechanics is seems a bit of a stretch. drag + gravity

    What blows my mind is that FDev keep thinking it's a good idea to REMOVE things from the game. First it was taking PowerPlay away from Solo and PG players, and now it's taking the ADS away from explorers. The game is 4 years old, people have invested thousands of hours, bought multiple accounts, bought dozens of skins, so clearly people are enjoying the game as it currently exists. This isn't NMS where basically everyone stopped playing and they needed to reinvent the game. FDev should be concentrating on ADDING things, not removing them.

    I see many different angles and feelings about the new scan mechanic. I can understand all points made without any personal investment on the matter, because as a non explorer I remain neutral. This new interaction within star systems might attract me into exploring. But that's only down to what I imagine exploration is: Rummaging around and looking under rocks etc. I wouldn't want to Jump and Honk adnauseam, just to notch up light years on my tachometer and earn high five's from the screen staring endurance derby specialists. But this would be the case if it turned out to be enjoyable and required skill/knowledge/foresight. If it turns out to be a drain on the soul that gets old soon; bring back the honk and I'll stay in the bubble.

    Totally disagree, can't agree with ANY part of your view point. Giving PFs more power over the BGS is probably the worst thing that could happen. The addition of Squadrons does not change the fundamental nature of ED, they are not what you think they are. Taking mechanics from games like EvE is an astoundingly bad idea - the likes of EvE and WoW are the malignant cancers of MMOs IMO.

    Unfortunately, those calculations fail to take into account two factors. First, the neutron star will start slowing you down once you get about halfway, meaning it takes longer to travel 24460 Ls to a neutron star than it takes flying 24460 Ls out into empty space. Second, you can't just slam into the neutron star at full speed and claim the boost, you have to slow right down, get to within a few Ls of the neutron star, find the jets, then take time to properly orient yourself with the jets. For an arrival-star neutron star, the jets are mostly pre-aligned for you. All of which combines to make a neutron star more than about 1000 Ls away useless for time-saving purposes. But still useful for the max-jump-range purposes noted by Orvidius and others above.

    Rank missions are done as chain missions now, If you don't have a pending chain mission with a faction you will never see a rank mission.

    This is the issue facing Elite as the developers have no idea how to make 'gameplay'. They've shown us this in the past four years, and most importantly with Beyond which has been a big failure for gameplay as they intended it to add and fix. All this talk of feet and atmospheric planets is just silly as it will do nothing to make the gameplay better. But it will be FDevs way of polishing the tur... game that exists. But they will likely add more paints.

    i can confirm that pinned blueprints are not registering and have flown back to the engineer only to have the blueprint pinned. i've also had the instance of only having access to g2 and g3 of a pinned blueprint and not g1.

    IIRC (I'd have to look it up in my posts...) I made a previous prediction that they would try and rush it all in before late Nov/early Dec so they could make a Paid DLC announcement before Xmas... because sales and all that. Wouldn't be too shocked if that's the reason they've decided to rush these changes in before then. And I'd be willing to bet on the fact that the "moar stuffz!" people have been clamoring for all along are included in that DLC.
