    The first issue I have with most features of ED is grindyness. Sure new engineers are an improvement, but it stills eems there is way to many materials to gather. We need multiple fun and enganging ways to gather them. And not just oen single way which is repetitive, and mindless. You know stuff like scanning wakes one of the most entertaining, engaging and fun ways to gather engineerign materials. The second issue I have is, it feels still like science with that random outcome. Engineers should be more engineering like. Basically like tuning. So basically, you g to the Engineer and say, "make my ship faster" he asks "how fast" and you say "how fats cna you make it?" then he says. I can make it 20% faster, but for this I need X amouns of A and Y amounts of B and so on. Then i shoudl eb able to say: "oh wow thats a lot, how about makig it only 15% faster?", and he gives me the material list for those 15% Then this turns into a small mission to get the wanted change.

    i dunno... unless material collection has changed massively, i would suggest one important part of beta will be the job the seasoned PvPers have, testing their god rolled grandfathered gear against high end G5 rolls in the new system... and to do that, the engineering needs to be accelerated. but it could be we get all the above.... have FD stated how long beta will last? there could be multiple iterations of beta with different rules.

    That's totally cool. An engineered module should be worth something. And it's a more even and predictable effort > result system. The old system was: You got lucky and go godlike in on or two tries or go for 100 rolls without even a slightest improvement. I am so happy with the new system. Ans as far a I understood, the old godlike rolls will be equal to the new maxed out grade 5 rolls. And that's perfect. To be honest, die diversification argument is only for screenshots in the forum. In game you should not notice if another player have 5% better roll that you on some modules. The real diversification comes from different preferences and choices for weapons and modules the players make on their ships.

    The problem is that ED is being designed as a mobile freemium game while it's an open world game. Replacing RNG by Grindy gameplay is not progress, it's going from vanilla brussel sprout icecream to vanilla chorizo icecream. Poor choices both. Making material collection better (as in not mind numbingly stupid things like Wake scaning and sitting in SC for the right SS to pop) should be a priority isn't it ? Is the game so boring that we have to design mechanics to force players in poorly designed gameplay loops for an extrinsic reward ? Really ? That's the best FD can come up with ?

    Just watched the live stream. Looks like a lot of thought has gone into this, but I'm not sure if the devs have considered how much of a grindwall this truly represents to the players. What worries me is that forcing everyone to go G1 to G5 on every module will effectively put an end to any experimentation. Anyone but the most hardcore of players will simply end up googling what the best/most popular build is, and grind towards that, and be done with it. Say goodbye to variation, to experimentation, to actually spending any time thinking about your builds. Say hello to the grind...

    I didn't board hop, and I rarely made a trip without a full ship (Beluga). I just visited three or four stations until i was full and then headed to Smeaton. Always made more than 100 million, sometimes over 150. If there isn't demand, you can't fill all cabins. Sometimes a small ship is more appropriate.

    Sorry about that, I was sat outside a cafe and it started to absolutely tip it down, where was I? Oh yeah, concerns. So engineering changes was obviously the contentious one (I know Ed was worried interested to see the reaction). I dare say the naysers voices will start to float to the top now but when I first went on to the forums last night the initial reaction, especially from a few people who I would have expected to be negative, was overwhelming positive! Personally I think it looks much cleaner and more elegant and efficient and will be a definite improvement on the old system for the vast majority of the ED player base. I was also fairly dismissive of Galnet audio. Right from the announcement at the expo I just thought meh, I can already do that with VoiceAttack and ED Toolbox. But actually seeing/hearing it on the stream last night? Brilliant. Good move showcasing some of the different languages too. I have to say you guys have done a terrific job with the voice synthesis, really top quality...

    That's still going to take 2x rolls to unlock G3 plus rolls to reach the top of G3. From the stream last night it looked like it took c.9 rolls to unlock G3 for the stock module.

    This is basically what they tried a few months back when they massively upped the number of VIPs to try and reduce stacking. Odd that at the same time they didn't do what they've done with delivery and a mission that used to be for 2-10 you now take 120 cargo for less money! They could have upped the passenger numbers needed way back fairly easily. But they didn't. Because IMO Passengers sell units. Simple as that

    Well, the management mess just changes. Instead of throwing away materials, you'll be making periodic visits to a trader to change up mats that you've maxed out. But while you're there you'll need in depth knowledge of all the grades needed to plough through in order to get to the grade you actually want to make sure you don't dispose of low grade materials you actually need now.
