A refection of too much Elite. Some wish fulfilment. Cubeo 3 is a very nice looking planet to visit; one day, soon? ...and of course, a vision of a possible future; for you.

All I see in this type of (many) threads is this: Somebody wants to steal from you. If you run away you are a cheater! If somebody wants to murder you. If you run away you are a cheater! Get over it, play the game and carry on soldier.

Not as long as the camera is pointed away from it. You want a photogenic ship, you get one of these: Or these:

I-Novae have been living off Mother's Pride & Pot Noodles for years. He could probably but the whole outfit for the cost of his coffee machine, or watch. But then people would get to experience all that immersive gameplay... *Sniff* I seem to have something in eye... ...Oh, it's Frontier: First Encounters, running perfectly with a whole procgen galaxy, gameloops and physics. :D.

Not a reflection of the ship as a whole, or it's capabilities, but when I first saw the models for ED I really, really, REALLY didn't like the Cobra's cockpit canopy. To me, it was like a wart stuck on the top of the ship which was a completely unnecessary compromise of the ship's design. It just seemed like the designers had arbitrarily decided to go with a "bubble canopy" on most of the ships and they'd just grafted this ugly lump onto the top of the Cobra without any consideration for the aesthetics of it. As a kid, I spent a lot of time doodling Mk3 Cobras in the margins of college notepads and then adding in stuff like windscreens, ducts, scoops, bay-doors, thrusters etc to try and make it look "realistic" and, ironically, Jameson's Cobra in ED looks almost identical to the ships I doodled, even down to the small "quarterlights" on the flanks. Honestly, looking at some of the screenies I took of Jamesons Cobra, it still looks more "right" than the ship we get to fly in the game. If somebody...

Theres logic and instruments others use in the game. It’s not purely random but some things are. I stumbled upon a base on Xbox one out of the blue trying to find something else I never found.

There has been significant support for a risk-based degradation mexhanic as opposed to a purely time-based one. Would any of the proponents of time-based like to comment on that idea (if you have, my apologies for missing it)? I'm curious as to whether the idea of damage that can be avoided by decision-making meets your requirements for gameplay, immersion and realism. As an anti-time-based player, I'd be perfectly happy with risk-based.

Because it then retracts slightly from the combat focus of them and makes them more multi role etc.... This way you don't mess with the ship stats but allow for a bit of flexibility for a 'travelling' build for these combat ships. But you have to make some compromise to do so. Not all ships have to do everything well but given some options in fitting helps a little.

I’ve not run that synthesis before but going off the INARA description above it sounds like they may be in the same bracket as thermic alloys. I’d try a CZ... I’ve run countless material runs from many locations and never seen them. I don’t do CZ’s though...

I love the look of the cockpit. I don't love the spacing or the firing arc horizon on the lower mounted C1s. They pretty much make it impossible for the Cobra to be an efficient big ship assassin. And knock it out of all but small v small PVP, unless you're willing to do a crazy kamikaze mine bomber build.

We get these young chaps every summer from the US...can spot them a mile away by the way they dress and carry themselves...they just look outta place if ye know what I mean...like they not comfortable but trying to fake it and overdoing it by smiling all the time. This is a dumping ground where the council send the tenants nobody else wants...people who smile all the time are usually considered a tourist or someone not quite right in the head. Or they won a hundred quid on a scratch card. Not overly bright though...had them cleaning my back yard and the doghouse while I sat playing mass effect 3...they figured it out before they finished the job when I tried sending the one who actually looked a bit simple to the hardware shop fer some tartan paint. He was almost out the door on his way too but his m8 was a bit smarter and called a halt to proceedings. Fairly sure my address has now been blacklisted...at least I hope it was otherwise next time Ill have to start getting much more creative in how the...

Read the entire thread but actually replying SPECIFICALLY to the OP and the suggestion therein... To a large extent, you have a valid point. On the other hand, since FD use so much procedural generation what happens if the procedures involved are sufficiently generalized? You have an atmosphere to model. if you can model an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere with one set of parameters, what's to stop you modelling different atmospheric compositions just by altering those parameters? For that matter, since an atmosphere can be considered a fluid, why not make the model sufficiently general that there's a set of parameters you can use to model surface liquids too? It would be the same code just with different input numbers and would give you not only the atmosphere and oceans of Earth but also surface liquids and atmospheres for just about any other planet type too. If the "atmospheric flight model" is sufficiently generalized too, coding atmospheric flight for our ships will also cover a submersible SRV. The...

It is a big deal if you cheat in the game where other people are directly involved, its also breaking the TOS. It is a big deal because it killed piracy and player bounty hunting. Its cheating, there is no other way to put it.

I was thinking the other day the simple solution is a hybrid SRV with flying capabilities that fits in the hanger slot -Keep the srv firing -get rid of the srv wheel -keep the 2 slot cargo, maybe offer 4 -allow up to two (with co-op options) -apply all other srv functions

For me, that's almost a completely separate issue. The main "hurdle" there would be finding ways to make it worthwhile. Basically, I like to think of the entire "station menu" as a placeholder which would, ultimately, be replaced by a first-person perspective of the station interiors when/if we get space legs. At it's core, it wouldn't have to require a huge station to be modeled and for the player to waste a heap of time walking around it. You'd complete the docking of your ship, get up out of the pilot's seat, walk to the exit hatch, step out into the hangar and, from there, you could access a terminal which'd bring up the "outfitting" and "repair" options (things that would require people come to your ship while it's parked in the hangar) or, alternatively, you could walk into an elevator where you could select different "decks" in order to visit the marketplace (for commodities and black-market contacts), the security office (for all the stuff related to bounties, fines, combat bonds etc), the...
