Yeh, probably keep assets, use it for exploring. I like the idea of starting from scratch, but with experience. Plenty of things I won't be wasting time on, eg Empire rank, Cutter.:D

"Often" is not a sweeping generalization, but a quick perusal of this forum will show people using lots of undersized thrusters and clean drives. Your bizarre, dishonest rants are tedious.

Selling energy. You see, they have discovered a way to transform all the rage of players who are angry because the game is not exactly what and how they want it to be and waste their time complaining in the forums and Steam and still keep playing 20 hours of it a week. Right now they are powering the whole cryptocurrencies scheme and if sales are still high for 2019 they are going to be able to power the complete electric network of Chile. Ok, sorry... But yeah, as everyone has said, the sales are still strong enough and there is also the shop where many of us have paid at least the double of what the base game and expansion cost us. So far, I've bought at least one paint pack for every ship I've bought in the game and most of the decals and holome custom stuff. Also, I think that the cost of the servers is not as high as other multiplayer games. I'm thinking of games like War Thunder where every map has real human players, sometimes dozens of them and they are still free to play (but not to win)....

True, but what manner of uncouth babboon maps a planet, then flies off without tossing a few probes at the rings?

OP, I'm sure FD are all ears and very receptive to what effectively amounts to a threat. Anyways, we've been around the roundabout a kerzillion times. This discussion is going nowhere...

Do you have any evidence to support this sweeping generalisation?

I can't believe they don't have unit tests for that. Something like that should break the build immediately. Or maybe they do, but they lack integration tests?

Right now mining is pretty predictable in regard to pirates. You'll usually get a pirate group right after dropping into a hotspot (sometimes security). After they do their scans or you evade them, there won't be any threat again until you drop into a new spot or go into SC. More mining activity should raise the chance of pirates in a system, another thing to go along with depletion and give a reason to move to other systems. In a busy system having a pirate follow you in to a ring would make sense, but they shouldn't scan you right away, knowing you just got there. They ought to hang out just outside range, so if you aren't alert, they'll sneak up on you. Give you a reason to play cat and mouse before you start operations. Detonating asteroids ought to eventually get some attention. It'd be nice if such things were also shown by the surface detail scanner, giving a way for pirates, NPC and player, to see where the action is, and plausibility for NPCs to know where to spawn. Another reason to move...

If the faction gain control of the star system, it will show as a Federation aligned system in the galaxy map, yes. However, you are going to have to fight other factions on the way up. Each war/election lasts ten (eleven?) days - three days pending, and one week active. If you have three other factions between you and the controlling faction, you will have to fight them all. You're looking at two months' work. When you get there, you will have a good sense of satisfaction, but yeah - the BGS isn't an instant pleasure.

I have now noticed there is a LoadErrors.log, what does it say? It seems game has a problem loading your old file from 2016 (which is not surprising). The other presets should still be available from the drop down menu as they don't seem have loading errors at all. Maybe the error stops other presets from loading. Delete the BindingLoadingErrors.log, it will get recreated if errors occur. In fact, let's isolate the problem. make a copy of all the files in that directory (preferably entire directory), then delete everything except: Custom.binds HCSPacks KB+M3.0.binds startpreset.start

Have you tried calibrating using the in-built Windows tool for it? Do you get this issue in any other games using a HOTAS? The best course of action we think is gonna be making a ticket, which you can do here: https://support.frontier.co.uk/topic.php We should be able to provide you more support from there.
