    Sure, that description fits, but it would re-define what they need to be 'better' at. No doubt the competitive BGSer will quickly adapt. I don't habitually board flip or instance switch, I just play the hand I'm dealt. While others are waiting in station logging out & back in again over & over again I'm out doing the missions I've grabbed already. When doing missions (I almost always do them for faction influence now) my sessions are varied and I pick up mats & stuff along the way, mostly from killing the mission specific pirates rather than as a mission reward. I used to board flip in certain stations (new yembo was one of my favourite haunts years ago) and I loved doing 120ly in 20minutes missions - I did loads of them, working out which order to complete them because sometimes literally every second counted. I can still speed dock a Cobra MkIII better than any other ship even though those missions are gone, and the ability to get so many on one go will soon be gone too. The game, and the mission...

    Now that you are at 10k it will be easier to maintain R5. The only way to earn merits for free is by undermining or opposing expansions. In either case, Patreus has specific systems that we need people to fortify, systems we don't want you to fortify, and expansions or enemy control systems we need to undermine or oppose. Even if it's just on your phone, discord will give you access to a lot of important information on how to best help the power.

    Some of it is this, but other parts are how the "lore" is set up to support the type of gameplay envisioned. Things like justifying short sensor ranges which in turn justify short weapon ranges. Those combined with speed limits and turning profiles that don't really obey physics designed so piloting and combat to play out how they do rather than how they would with a more logical evolution of technology.

    Yea, saw that. I'm not patient enough for fixed weps. I like to keep things simple in my ships. I don't even bother with armor as I don't need it. So why drag around the extra weight? I have never bought a ship before I had the credits to upgrade it's modules immediately and get whatever engineering I had available at that time. Even when I bought my first 'vette it was immediately A-rated and engineered to what I had available then (G3?). When I bought the second one to use as a armed trader, it was bought, upgraded, and fully engineered in a day. One of advantages to hanging out at Jameson I guess. :)

    I just tried to put Windows 10 for Education on my HTPC to take advantage of the new builds that have been released that Server 2016 doesn't have GUI's for. Got about four hours into the twelve hours or so it takes to turn off all of Windows 10's trash manually and had enough. It's literally three times as long to setup as the server OSes or Windows 7 and at least an order of magnitude more time intensive than a modern Linux distro. Wiped the drive and put Server 2016 1607 back on.

    At the moment, David Braben is in charge (as in he's the CEO, I understand he's no longer the majority shareholder) and there is some confidence that there is more to keeping ED's servers alive than just maximising profit. However his sale of shares & other snippets suggest he may be looking to hand over the reigns of what has become a successful company. The new 'owner' may not see this (possibly) less profitable use of resources as such a desirable halo product. I've never owned a game that requires continuous online access to a freely provided but corporate owned server before, so I am conscious that one day I may no longer be able to continue to play ED as I can with Elite+, which is still installed on one of my Win98se PCs.

    This happens with all bodies to an extent, if you are a fair distance or travelling slowly the lines will appear or disappear depending on your orientation, you don't even have to target them, if you are pointing away at a reasonably large angle, 20-25% plus the orbit lines and exclusion zones will disappear from peripheral bodies and will reappear if you just angle towards them a bit more, there's no need to actually target them, I have had many hundred thousand light years away from the bubble and that is very common. I always enter systems at full throttle and the sun exclusion line isn't visible at first, if I point away from the star to do an immediate run and jump they often won't appear at all, if I angle towards where I expect the zone to be to do a quick scoop before jumping they will sometimes appear after I start scooping because I am still traveling to slowly.     Eeeeeeeeeeee, my brain can hardly process all this. I have my T7's FSD engineered now, went back to my home system where I am strongly repped and dont find many well paying missions. I like the sound of the edge of the bubble idea, but it also sounds like it could take a very long time. I have a hell of a time operating the galaxy map to find boom systems haha.

    Interesting point, I suppose. It might be that the mission generator isn't overloading at all, and that the problem is a bug which is more likely to manifest as a result of a high turnover of missions. Even if that is the case, though, the causal factors are the same and the proposed changes are just as useful. Generating a larger quantity of missions, in a busy system, would make the bug more likely to appear, aggressively "flushing" the mission cache, by accepting and abandoning missions, would increase the likelihood further and applying the proposed changes would make it less likely to happen and limit the problems it causes. Having said that, though, from a layman's POV it sure as hell looks like the mission-generator is simply overloading, with the mission-board taking longer an longer to refresh and, ultimately, players starting to see transaction server errors and get disconnects in proportion to the amount of player activity in a system.     How much effort it takes to shift a war to victory depends on the population of the system in question. A war in a tiny mining colony with only a few thousand people can easily be shifted by a single player handing in just a few combat bonds or bounty vouchers, assuming there is no-one opposing you. But a large agricultural colony with a population in the billions really needs a group of players co-operating in order to shift, especially as a War in a high-population system is likely to be noticed by other players.
