it clearly influenced op, and he has a point ... we both know the mission text is but a placeholder. it is even randomly generated, just cosmetic with no meaning whatsoever and this isn't even a big issue, but it indeed is odd and op's confusion is quite justified. he probably isn't lurking around here since kickstarter so wouldn't know, if anything because all 'official' documentation about the workings of the bgs is afaik a riddle of posts littered by sandro et al on the forum, at best thrown together by some volunteer fan in a pdf linked who knows where.

It has nothing to do with "refusing to do the things in the game". I have over 2000 hours into the game so far, I've already done all of those things (except piracy) many times over and there is quite simply no replay value or meaningful new content being generated to hold my interest. The problem is that those activities are all boring and have been since the game launched. They are repetitive and many players (myself included) have continued to play the game with the expectation that we would see meaningful improvements in the gameplay and content, as promised by FD and Braben. This hasn't happened. In fact if anything we've seen major opportunities to meaningfully improve the game being totally wasted by underdeveloping what would have been highly anticipated and popular features. Multicrew could have been amazing, if we had activities other than combat, if we had the opportunity to drive the SRV and if there were meaningful credit payouts for lower-ranked players. What we got with multicrew was...

Was there last weekend hoping it was better, but there is even less to do there now. They should put up more missions there to keep people interested, but jacques litteraly has 0 missions on the board.

Sure you can have a vote. Just as soon as you come up with enough cash to invest and earn a seat on the Board.

I don't think he is. And that's the point, in this scenario he's not going to be sticking around to fight anyone, he's going to drop into an instance, destroy his helpless target, then leave. The sort of vessels that would need police intervention to survive a blitz attack are the same sort of vessels that won't survive long enough for anyone to ever intervene on their behalf.

The problem with that idea is that I'm playing a computer game. I've already paid someone to design and deliver an entertaining game. I shouldn't be generating my own entertainment, otherwise I should be spending my time and money elsewhere. In fact with just the base game ($60 USD) plus Horizons ($45 USD) I've already paid $105 which is 75% more than the typical cost of a AAA game, plus a few basic cosmetic options (which cannot be earned in-game and require money simply to change paint or put a name on your ship) that is easily double the cost of a typical AAA game. In that sense I've paid for two AAA games, but instead I barely have one properly designed game with meaningful game content. What you're suggesting is basically telling me that the game is boring but that I should keep playing the game anyways rather than expecting FD to actually improve it.

Haha, thanks for the feed back. It seemed to work well on the guys youtube https://youtu.be/CM8q4Er3cLU Maybe I just really liked the red beams haha. I know from before when I played I did a lot better with pulse lasers. I didn't know there was a longe range mod for lasers that seems amazing, a lot of the time I find myself trying to turn my ship to face the enemy and i'm like 2km away when I get turned around. I know what pitch is, but it doesn't really feel fast enough to keep ships in front of me. I am definitely a mediocre pilot or even a poor one, that could be the problem. When I played before I could play better than I do now, and also apparently the Ai was much much worse. Watching some of the dog fighting youtube videos seem a little out of date because the NPC ships seem a lot more maneouvreable (i'll never be able to spell this word) than back in 2015. I'll get my distributor modified as soon as I can.

Just because you refuse to do the things in the game doesn't mean there aren't things to do. No one can put 100s of hours into a game with nothing to do. Stop torturing yourself, accept that you need a game of more mainstream appeal, and go play one designed around your interests. Fdev is not going to change their target audience because you want them to. The world doesn't revolve around you.

Don't take that mission. Eric immediately demands you eject Kyle's cryopod into the nearest star.

I do the same thing. When playing elite I have my cockpit setup downstairs. When I want to play a stand up VR game I have to use my upstairs living room. What I did was buy extra sensors. For elite or most "cockpit" games only one sensors is needed. Oculus comes with 2, 1 extra is only $60 bucks now. All I have to do is move my headset when I want to go from one to the other.

Althought I wouldn't agree that the ships' engines sound bad - To me, it's the effect of the ship's sheer size and bulk reverberating eigines that are firing 75-100m away from the ship's cockpit and through the hull... The notion that we should hear a difference between E grade and A grade actually sounds rather neat! I'm all in favor of a Cutter's thrusters going from Jetta to Lamborghini as you smash millions into them.

I would be happy with that. It's one of the reasons why I backed the Kickstarter to LEP level then bought another LEP through the Backers' App. Because FD said in the FAQ and Newsletters that it was part of their plan. They didn't say it would come with oodles of new gameplay, although that would obviously be a bonus. Just that it was part of the plan. A selling point, if you will. Right. Sooner or later every game comes up against a situation that is in the domain of the player, not the character they're controlling. What to do when a character dies is a prime example. At these points, accepting that it's a game and providing an out-of-universe mechanism until the in-universe world can be re-asserted is the most obvious option. Even FE2 and FFE had a "Game Over" / Click To Re-Start screen. This obsession with making everything part of the "simulation" is new to ED and is what's led to abominations like telepresence. When a player character dies (assuming the player has the asserts and intent to...

I always did have good luck with the pulse's back when I played before. I'll switch back to them. Glad to hear I'll be able to really use a lower end blue print. Are cannons pretty good now? When I played before I frequently tried them out before going back to multi cannons. I did like rails, and in fact used the power play rail gun frequently as I was always pledged to ALD back then. I guess you can refill your own ammo now. Nice to see you're still playing and advising noobs Chris. Thanks

Yeah that's what everybody is saying, that simply having walking around is of no use without content to make use of the functionality being developed alongside it so that it is available to players from day one of any 'walking around' gameplay. However common sense alone should tell you that's far from a trivial addition to the game. Or if common sense doesn't tell you that, you could just go with the number of times that FDev have explicitly stated it. It has always been said to be 'a long way away' precisely because implementing it, along with gameplay to make use of it, is a major undertaking. The argument isn't that it shouldn't be introduced at all because there's 'nothing to do' it's that it would be stupid to focus on delivering it quickly (for example as one of next year's updates) because even if they could integrate the basic mechanics into the game by then they certainly wouldn't have time to create actual gameplay to go with it, which would lead to endless moaning that (wait for it...)...
