I'm still in it for the long haul. But the return journey is going to be a real test of my endurance.

I have to say it's warming to see real PC games discussed and not just console ports.

Didn't imply that it was. I'm pointing out that the galaxy is a big place, and even the bubble itself is huge. While we or our characters may very well have personal attachments to specific areas, very little of the fundamental game mechanisms would change as long as even a small fraction of the bubble was intact. Losing one's home has much less of a sting when one knows packing up and moving shop is as easy as a few jumps followed by a few clicks in the shipyard screen. Even if the PF itself bit it, it would likely feel anticlimactic, at least without further adjustment.

FC5 has a way better environment. The gun play has been tweaked and feels just right. FC4 and 3 the gunplay felt a little off to me. The team mates you can recruit is a nice touch. The story is ridiculous just skip it.

We're not trying to be Facebook. XenForo's 'reputation system' is a post-likes system. There's nothing i can really do to change that. If there's an addon available to make Post likes somewhat anonymous, I'll take a look at it. However, don't believe that there is such for the 2.1 series of XenForo. :)

Elite Dangerous theme will be dark, and it'll be enforced to the entire ED section. JWE, PC and the Frontier themes likewise elsewhere. It'll be similar in darkness to a mix of Blackout and the Elite Orange theme.

The keywords here are variety and believability. That's it. With that end goal in mind, I think they can bring the best to the table with what they already did right + what a successful game from 10 years ago already did right.

STD is so far away from Rodenberry's vision it is not Star Trek. The bridge has a dour, morose vibe and the once subtle undermining of the male characters, in the first season, has evolved into a blatant mockery - which is an apt description of the show. First Star Wars and now Star Trek. Dismantled and anything recognisable is twisted. Star Fleet was always a positive entity. Cheers Seth for The Orville. He gets it!

On February 11, 2019 NVIDIA updated their video codec SDK to version 9.0 and introduced several new enhancements to NVENC (http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/419.67/419.67-win10-crd-release-notes.pdf -- page 5). Shortly thereafter, OBS Studio 23 was released with a new NVENC encoder taking advantage of these features, as well as being more streamlined in general (https://obsproject.com/blog/progress-report-february-2019). Seeing as I had just bricked my four year old Windows 7 (which does not support these enhancements) install, found Server 2019 to still be a buggy mess, and was unwilling to put Windows 10 on my primary system, I threw Server 2016 on it and decided to test the improvements.

That's about right, still I would struggle to get as low as 12m carto data with the FSS these days in an unexplored region with just a few systems, 1 ELW with first discovery, FSS scan and probing can I believe push you north of 5m, doing a decent run of 1kly out and back should pump that 12m up considerably, 12m isn't a lot of explo data compared to before the last patch. Did they change the monetary requirements for Elite Explorer and forget to tell us?

One of the big oil companies( BP? Halliburton? I forget now) hired me as a field doctor some years aback, during some exploratory drilling in the forest not too far from my location. They uncovered 5 hidden illegal stills, and a stockpile of highly concentrated alcohol made from molasses, local fruits, and who-knows-what-else. The local stuff is usually nondescript in appearance - like water. But some of this stuff was deep blue, like Breaking Bad crystal meth blue. I thought it might have been copper sulphate from acidic degradation of the tubing. The guys asked me about it, and I told them not to drink it. That stuff is notorious for causing hallucinations, because some people think it's ha-ha funny to throw in Dhatura stramonium. The Haitians use that together with toad poisons to do zombie rituals, and the Hindus think it's a sacred plant, and burn it during some prayers. It can last several days after you take it. And you'll never remember a thing. They assured me that I shouldn't worry....

You set yourself up for extra disappointment there. The CG text and Galnet report both said the reward would only be an installation and a (presumably non-dockable) megaship. A raw material trader would have been nice though.
