But.... Mapping is the new scanning. First discovered is nothing first mapped is all now ;)

So cherry picking, but with mapping instead of the first discovered tag. This is the same basic pattern of behaviour I've fallen into too, since everything is revealed there are no surprises when choosing which planets to map apart from maybe what exact type of feature will be at a fixed POI. No skill required. I have to wonder just what the problem with cherry picking is, my experience has been that it's the norm once you get far enough out that the urge to tag anything not already tagged has diminished (with legacy tags).

I believe that the answer to this is quite simple OP. When FD gave us this new FSS system, to 'compensate' us for the increased time it now takes to identify each Planet in a system, when compared to the 'honk reveals all' System Map, the new mechanic is completed without the need to travel to each object in turn. This 'travel time' reduction by far exceeds the time required to use the FSS, to an experienced Explorer. I for one, used to Cherry Pick using the old method, leaving out any objects that looked like Rock/Ice worlds in the System Map. Sometimes not even travelling the 500kLS's to that 4th Star for the one HMC Planet orbiting it. Now I can scan the lot in a fraction of the time, travelling a thousand LYs a lot quicker than I did before. Where players do cherry pick now is what they map with the DSS. I find that most ELW/WW/Amm worlds in the bubble systems have now been mapped - if not I'll map them myself!

Games of space travelling were always a love of mine. When I saw First Encounters as a kid it just swept me out of my feet. The freedom, sheer size of galaxy to explore, ability to land on planets... it had this kind of magic that made me return to it for years. When Elite Dangerous came out I was busy with other things in life, so I payed little attention to it and it being online game not helped in that regard, as I always was single player - one who prefers to not get his way of playing a game to be polluted by others. I was using games to fuel my imagination, not liking the idea of being content for some kids enjoying mindless shooters, spamming obscenities in my chatbox. But at some point I bought it, because I realised it had "Solo" mode. I've played it for some time and enjoyed it even more than FFE of old. And then I've discovered the community here at Frontier forums. I realised that there's a world full of children like me, that got little older over the years, that play the game for very...

Never before have I experienced lag in ED Xbox play. Tonight I did, is this a Xbox thing or A ED thing?

Its quite puzzling, we know something is wrong but what? Are they stuck because they are not degrading (i.e. they need to be actively pushed?), is negative actions (whatever they are) not plugged in or registering? I managed to push a faction into civil unrest, lockdown and retreat but the economic slider throughout that was lodged in the blue.

For my own part, I am a completionist when it comes to scanning, but am very selective about mapping. ELW's almost always get mapped, same with any planet with biological, geological or xenological features. WW's are frequently mapped-as are some Gas Giants (usually those orbited by active land-fall worlds). Everything else is based on how I feel in any given system.

I’m relatively a newbie; been around Elite Universe for two years, give or take. I heard about this game from a guy who soon became a good friend i met during the obligatory military service. Yeah we still have that. He’d sent me a couple of his in-game videos to give me an idea what the game was about. My initial thoughts were about how dark and claustrophobic it was to be in a cockpit all the time. Then i decided to give it a go. When i jumped into my very first spaceship, the steep learning curve kinda hit me. But that was that, as soon as i had my grip i started feeling fufilled and free. Freedom of being able to do whatever you like and the way you like gave me limitless joy. I can write full paragraphs on how this game makes me feel. But i want to talk about something else, the community itself. Cmdrs in this vast universe are nothing like i’ve ever seen before; always helpful, to an extent that they even prioritize other fellow commanders’ well-being over their own. They also welcome...

There are two problems with implementing this concept, both of which are corollaries rising out of the simple, trite but true phrase, "It's a game". First, newbies. Newbie Space would become unmanageable as the newbies would create a massive backlog in the queue as each one of them takes turns to figure out how to dock. In real life, nobody gets behind the controls of an aircraft without many hours of sim training and instructing. In ED, every newbie gets tossed into the deep end, with little or no training. Second, griefers. Want to cause mayhem and otherwise be antisocial at a CG, engineers base or other high-traffic hotspot? Just request docking permission, then go read the forums, or go for a walk, or fold the laundry, or have dinner - no-one else can dock for the next ten minutes while you're holding up the queue. The only way "proper traffic control" could be made to work is if a docking computer - and an Undocking computer - is installed on every ship, and everyone is forced to use it every...

I agree that the new FSS will probably mean more systems are scanned entirely once discovered, but I don't think running out of new systems to discover will be a prpblem. I recently set out on an exploration trip. Started finding undiscovered systems within half an hour. Flew off to an interesting looking nebula. It had been thoroughly explored, but the surrounding systems had not. A couple of days ago I arrived in Colonia. I got within 200ly before finding a previously discovered system. That's just the first leg of my journey, but all ready I am 200 million richer and have my name on many more stars and planets, two of which are ELWs. Even if someone follows my exact path they will discover more. With a 60ly jump range, I missed many more systems than I found.

OMEGA MINING OP. RECEIVER ONLINE TRANSMISSION DETECTED TUNING FREQUENCY ******INCOMING TRANSMISSION******* I tried sleeping while docked in the omega outpost. Big mistake. It's hard to sleep with t̸͉͔̟̍̏h̶͉̺̦̚ë̴͎̯̅̿ nonstop knocking, screeching, and hammering of the construction in the docking bay. That's before the thundering rumble from the massive freighters all but throw me out of bed. I put the ship into an orbit clear of the rings in order to g̴̨̗̓̕ė̶̥̫̓̓t̵̲͎͍͊̒ some sleep. At least space is silent, and the bunks aboard Talla don't feel like resting on a cold block of aluminium, but I still get some nightmares. I woke up an imperial cycle later to the call on the comm-panel. Twenty or so commanders were already mining. I joined in. Turns out, It's hard to fit a cutter alongside a Krait, Type 9, Corvette, and Anaconda. Once I got the trick of it, the rock t̶̨̬̤̉ǫ̸͔̣̾̈́̇n̶̲̝͆̑̈́ń̵̙̖̚ḁ̸̈͜ĝ̶͎̙̌͛ẻ̸̘̰͕̎̚ rolled in. Too bad Omega requested the ore pre-refined, otherwise we could have just...

If any thing needs work in the combat department it would be the targeting system. The shield covers the ship so its all good it having a health bar. The hull is a well a hull it should have integrity which should be hard to destroy so should not be the primary target. If you blast holes in it there should be decompression and things flying out of the holes. The modules! They make the ship work so they should be the target! So if you target the power plant damage it that should have consequences as in unstable or tempory loss of power all the way down to shut down dead ship but no baboom.!
