Watching a video of gankers killing explorers in one, two volleys of cannons. I like pvp, but this is not pvp, this is a click once to win mechanic. Thinking how beautiful and fun this game is and how hard developers failed in balancing attack and defense. I want everyone to play in open, but engineering (nice addition) was brought to an excess. I would gladly fight back, but then I am shut off from all the exploring and other cool things this update brought because I do not have time to explore 30 or less ly per jump and I cannot bring all the stuff I need. If there was more balance between a pvp build and explorer build it would be feasible.

There's an incredible way to improve the safety of our fellow Pilots Federation members in game right now. In fact, it doesn't even require any action on the part of Frontier! Use foresight and plan ahead. Let's take this past weekend as an example. Who on earth thought it was a good idea to encourage thousands of explorers in ships not Bubble ready to converge on a Low Security System and not provide any protection whatsoever beyond, 'Sure hope you signed up for the Private Group!' I love what folks are trying to do with Distant Worlds 2 but leadership has got to stand up and accept responsibility for their role in yesterday's shenanigans. Lots of you have been playing Elite for ages. It's known for players finding all kinds of creative ways to get at each other. This is hardly a new thing. How did you screw this up so badly? Like I've said before there's shooting fish in a barrel and then there's the fish building the barrel. Elite is what it is. Way past time we all recognize that fact...

I know this is going to be controvertial, but i just don't see the point of credits any more. Players can go from sidewinder to anaconda in a week. Money is so easy to make, rebuys are a joke. Do you agree? Do you think FD might as well just remove credits, or just award everyone a bazillion credits as soon as they start a new CMDR? Is this good for the game or bad for it? If ED was a game where there was something to spend these massive amounts of credits, for example, like X's empire building, then there might be a use for them all. If it was a single player game, well, i still think it would be far too easy to make credits, but hey single player. Personally though, i'm not aware of any MMO which has "gold" raining from the sky like ED has with credits. I think in most MMOs it would be considered very bad for the game.

... and won't add any gameplay. Please forgive me. This is a clip of a streamer playing Star Citi*****. It is a beautifully wicked example of what space legs could be.

Elite Dangerous Sales - London Stock Exchange Elite Dangerous has exceeded 3 million base game units. Previously the Company has reported "franchise units" for Elite Dangerous whereby the Elite Dangerous: Horizons, sold at the same price as the base game, was also counted as one unit. The Company has now simplified unit reporting to state gross unit sales of the base game only. For comparative purposes cumulative franchise units for Elite Dangerous are now over 4.3 million.

Just a little heads up, I have been playing open at WP2 and keeping an eye on the traffic and there are wings of gankers having a great time terrorising explorers. Personally I can avoid/handle the trouble but I feel sorry for the multitudes who will suffer. No doubt these guys are in it for the long haul and will go all the way for 'the lulz'. Act accordingly, be prepared and don't come crying when you are faced with the rebuy.

A quote I read somewhere about Elite Dangerous which, for me at least, hits the nail on the head. I really want to love this game. But there's just not enough to keep my interest. I pick the game back up for a few days, and already I'm bored with the repetition and seemingly nothing to work towards. No mysteries to solve, no breadcrumbs to follow. Just meaningless grind. There needs to be something tangible to aim towards, else what's the point? I have enough credits to kit out my Conda, and I could grind for materials to get Guardian tech. But with no breadcrumbs out in the void to follow, there's no need to. I had heaps of fun chasing the Formidine Rift mystery, even though there was only a small breadcrumb trail to follow, but it gave purpose to my play. Right now, there's no depth, and from how I understand it, no undiscovered content until the devs decide to implement it. No, I'm not saying E: D needs to change. It is what it is and I will play other games if I am not enjoying Elite. But is it...

Dunno if you have seen the new Gillette razor advert. When i 1st saw it i really did not like it.... but i could not put my finger on why. i have no problem with the message in principle, (obviously i do not think men should assault women or stand there laughing whilst their kid knocks 10 bells out of another kid My 1st problem is just think it is naff all to do with the product and, i dunno it just seems a bit cringing to me <shrugs>. I dont think a platform which is being used to sell something is the place to make the point...... Buy expensive Gillette razors and show the world you are not a misogynistic prat... or dont and you are condoning sexism and bullying...... but i think my main issue is it is building a massive strawman. I DONT think 99.9% of men are bullies or walk around groping woman and I DO think anyone who does needs reprimanding... and what is wrong with seeing a woman and going to talk to her. the impulse body spray adverts of a couple of years ago actively encouraged women to...

On the DW event, many Commanders like me will be shipping modules for the upcoming mining CG. During this process I noticed the trip from The Bubble to the Omega Nebula, c5300ly was 3.5 hours albeit in a decent exploration ship. When I transfered modules there the time was 14 hours and 26 mins. Similarly, a trip up to the shipyard in Rohini (c2500ly) from Omega, took 38 mins with N* boost, and module transfer time from there was 7.5 hours. Should these and ship transfer time be adjusted, in the light of guardian technology, neutron star use, and new ships with larger jump capabilities? We pay a premium for these services, the jocks that provide them ARE the best and using the latest and fastest technology, right?

This DW2 drama blow-up is exactly why. Just look at how many highly-populated threads are ongoing about the topic right now. Dear Frontier: as I see things, this is no longer a question of "if" a PvE mode is necessary. The question is "when", and the time has been "now" for well over a year at the very latest. Viewing this debacle is adding to my growing list of reasons to not be playing the game.

With the current Void Opal mechanics and profit levels, I imagine it is possible to become Trade Elite in a matter of hours. It took months to sort out when passenger missions were influencing Elite Explorer rank, when presumably thousands of CMDRs took a short route there. This was fixed, and therfore deemed not reasonable. This situation is c25x worse in terms of the speed at which you could rank up than with that issue in aquiring Exploration rank. Please address this FD as a matter of urgency.

Ships sitting on assigned landing pads, game freezes, clunky HUD modes, etc. and what does FDev "fix"? USS "farming". This morning's patch seems to have "fixed" USS farming at least, they are not re-spawning when I re-log. The "scenario" (or "scan da ship") ones do re-spawn but not the materials USS. Am I expected to have fun scanning the same ship over and over for a tiny increase in REP? Farming USS was a fun and effective method for collecting materials and we can't have THAT, can we? There were a couple of dozen USS in the system I went to and not a single HGE. I am totally not looking forward to the extreme "fun" of jumping system to system to system to system hoping for a single HGE-USS might pop up. I have not tried it yet but can anyone confirm whether the multiple abrasion blaster "exploit" has been "fixed" as well? After all, mining was fun for a while so let's squash that too.

As most are aware, the Distant Worlds 2 (DW2) expedition is currently underway. Unfortunately, DW2 experienced a rocky start, beginning with the tragic Pallaeni Massacre that took place the very first day. As if that were not heartbreaking enough, an elite assault force began hunting expedition explorers across the galaxy and many more commanders have lost their ship as a result. In total (as of now), a whopping 898 explorers have been destroyed so far, and the number continues to grow. Evidence of the metric can be seen by looking at the Distant Ganks 2 kill count logs aggregated here: (warning slow load time). What you may not be aware of is that I, The Overlord Zarek Null, have the power to bring all of this needless suffering to an end. The Distant Ganks 2 fleet? They report to ME. They are the commanders that are slaughtering explorers by the hundreds. I am not an unreasonable person. This assault was...

Plans may already be afoot within Frontier towers, but I would like to make a formal request that a station within the bubble be renamed in honour of our departing friend. Ed has done more to bring this community together than anyone else! And although Ed's 38 came together to establish Dunker's Rest as part of the initial Colonia expansion, it is a long way to travel for some. So I think that a station (in the system of his choosing) should be renamed to Edward Lewis. I would also request that a new rare good be added to the game, at that station, which will of course have to be biscuits. And lastly (greedy I know) that we finally, finally, get to have the Bobble Ed. The bobble head has been a request since 2015, and the biscuits since not long after, but now seems like a fitting time to include them.

Just asking. are there dedicated community managers left for Elite Dangerous? You had time to make a dedicated "goodbye and self gratification - live-stream" for Ed Lewis last week, but somehow i miss a bit of Feedback about the ongoing issues we got ingame since 3.3 Something like "he, we noticed and someone is already working on it" would be nice Do i need to subscribe to a special newsletter or social media channel to get notice of any response? or is Elite Dangerous on the Backburner because of your anniversary

There's yet another 'mile wide, inch deep' threadnaught starting. Ten pages as of 21.00z tonight. I predict much bickering, increasing animosity and ad hominem attacks, followed by a lock. (That's what usually happens. :D) I don't want to buzzkill on that one, but I am curious. What is 'depth', or what does 'depth' actually mean to you? For example: A couple of years back I stated my belief that more busy work is not depth. This was prior to engineering, but engineering is a great example, so I'll use that. The engineering process involves many different requirements being met- unlocking engineers, gathering materials, trading same, rolling on a RNG generator to apply improvements.

As some are aware, over 900 explorers in the Distant Worlds 2 expedition have been destroyed so far in an ongoing conflict between themselves and enforcers of galactic overlordship. But what is most astonishing about the entire situation is that I have, on multiple occasions, extended the olive branch, and offered a truce. I offered to have all of the ganking brought to an end. And out of 10,000+ expedition participants, not a single person has even entertained the possibility of peacetalks. Every single, "peace-loving explorer" has closed the door on peace entirely. Now to my question: why are "peaceful explorers" so opposed to diplomatic peace talks?

So, after confirming that the deep core mining multi-chunk bug got stealth fixed, I went looking for HGEs prior to doing some engineering. Made a circuit of the systems that have been spawning HGE's reliably since 3.3. I hope my experience is indicative of nothing more than RNGesus being in a bad mood... otherwise G5 engineering just became horribly worse than it was before. Not one HGE in EZ Aquarii ...that's a first for me. That system usually spawns several. Not one HGE in Bolg... One HGE in Dagaz ... but 336K ls out... continuing the search. :/ LHS 2494, no HGE's.
