Well said. I love my big ships. I have plenty of them. I actually own pretty much all ships of the game by now fully engineered, I have enough money still to be ganked in PP 100 times in my Corvette. Yet the most fun I have is with my Cutter running 728 Personal Weapons for my 50,000,000 $ job. No PvP thrill could beat that. I rarely play PvP. I hate it. I will always hate it.

Just reading some of the Berserker books right now, myself, and thinking 'oh hey the Guardians were fighting each other and used AI that wiped them out, so we'll have to ally with the Thargoids on the side of Life!' XD

Open can have the card game system takeovers. Just give group and solo access to PP weapons via tech brokers. Thats all I did PP for. It sucks anyway. If we want to talk to depth in the game. PP is the King Supreme of a cool idea that was terribly implemented. I have more fun running a T9 full of rubber dog **** out of New Hong Kong then I ever did doing PP

Let me add some constructive idea: - Let us make "Highly secure" systems REALLY highly secure! And let us get more unsafe space where you could visit for more thrill. It would be possible. Frontier could implement Hyperspace police drones that pop-up in numbers of 100s around gankers in secure systems and implement massive ingame-punishment.- Opengame would be fun for me then. We could even get an entire Anarchy sector if it was for me, fine.

I like the forum, and have found that if you ask for help, it is generally well provided. Yes, there is much complaining, but some of it is warranted.

In addition to what Bo said, if it were possible then having to update the game every single day before you can play it sounds like an annoying nightmare cycle. AWS and GCP are web services, not a game. The processes for updates are very different, like having to be reviewed by a QA teams for console version updates (which takes more than a day).

I'm pretty new (4 months since I started this adventure) and 350h in game. My only advice : have fun. Take your time, don't rush, don't grind, no need to get the big shiny ships...I don't even own a large ship and I could afford it. Try everything, ask questions and welcome in the awesome world of Elite Dangeours =)

It's not exactly the same as the original 1984 Elite logo. The new ED one is slightly more complex, and taller and thinner - like a supermodel version of the 1984 creature. Original 1984 ELite logo: Current logo:

The most so called white knights are actually far from being that white as they are accused of by the so called black knights. Most of them are quite aware of the game's quirks, bugs and shortcomings, yet they still find enough aspects to enjoy and play with. At the end of the day it's just a matter of focus: You can love another human for what s/he is in its entirety, including all the not so appetizing inwards or you gape at that human's appendicitis while ignoring all the rest. Same with this or any other game - your choice. The result is predictable.

You know, Un1, I think you've got a good heart, but these posts are starting to wear on me, and frankly I'm finding them to be selfish more and more as time wears on. I don't believe that every time you've left the house of late that you've been literally "punched in the face". As a matter of fact, for one person to be the victim of one act of physical violence is rare. For another to be the victim of multiple acts is rarer than that, and you speak as though you quite literally can't walk outside of your house without some foul person besetting themself upon you physically. And it's false, isn't it? A blatant exaggeration? You weren't punched in the face when you rode your bike that day. You weren't punched in the face when you were courting the girl with the dragon statue. You may have problems, and some of those problems may be manifested in other people. But I firmly believe that the majority of them come from you - you have settled in on a mentality of persecution because it gives you...

This is exactly what makes Open toxic. Great post. If the Crime & Punishment was realistic in the Open game, and by that I mean a lifetime ban from the bubble, the stripping of all of your possessions and a prison sentence for 10 years at Lave, then OPEN would be just as safe as PvE. But for Open-Promoters it would not be fun anymore, if crime, trolling and ganking would mean a real punishment and consequences like a lifetime ban on the 1000x1000x1000 sector. Right? If attacking another player meant brutal in-game punishment I guess we would not have any Open game promoters at this point since OPEN would be just as Lame as PvE is right now.

I would Disagree. Strangely Enough like its a Strange turn of Fate. I just lately found an old acquaintance from War Thunder. Where this JS vs Mouse Aim Discussion was very prevalent as well. And by Fact I have been told to Git Gud by the JS Fanatics so many times that I stopped counting. As much as I dislike the Gankers/Griefers and other useless leeches of the Game that nobody needs and which the Game would be better off without having. They aint telling me to Git Gud as often as the guys which want to Force everyone into Hardmode :P

So, as I understand it....... The green Thargoids are for the immediate loading and unloading of bullets only. There is no stopping the RED Thargoids.

The very worst thing about Open - is when you've got two mates in VR on godrigs having a perfectly fluid experience, and suddenly Mister Dialup turns up in their instance...……. Well, they certainly experience fluid. What a waste of all that single malt :(

Even if you've already "spawned" into the universe, make sure you do this for a bit: Practice on the tutorials. I spent four days after I purchased and installed the game just practicing, figuring out how to bind keys, move this way or that, avoid fights, get into fights, learning how to survive a fight, how to navigate, how to take off, and more important: how to land. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYPtigdFxnA Also, as others have suggested: mix it up a bit. I did a bit of everything for a while but never too much of any one thing for too long. Doing nothing but hauling cargo from point A to point B is fun - for about 10 runs. Then it gets old. Try mining, doing missions, bounty hunting (NOT in a sidewinder, of course!).

Unlocking all the engineers is a huge pain, but you only have to each one once, then it's just the grind for mats. I'd probably at least do Farseer, as even grd 3 dirty drives and enhanced jump range will be very beneficial even when not in combat.

You guys know you won't be able to find these things unless you go to three separate systems, listen to a staticky broadcast that must be analyzed with audio visualization software that will give you a coordinate, and you'll fly 130kls in a line toward a black hole in a distant system, then the ship will have seven knobs to scan with four new scanners, and you'll get one MEF and some guardian data. You'll have to repeat it seven times to unlock the new Thargoid killing specific "That" gun that can't be used against conventional targets. BUT it will be really pretty.
