    I spent a lot of time playing Subnautica with my Rift on. The frame covers up some of the read-out in the goggles, but I didn't know it was there until I loaded it up on a monitor.

    Yes. It is a lovely looking game no doubt. But I felt it was all sparkle but little substance. Very clumsily concealed linearity in the levels with the aforementioned chokepointing forcing sides together.

    There's a few missions you get in the game that you didn't volunteer for, so mission targets pop up out of nowhere. You have to check your comms panel for every message to know when your involved with them, which is a bit of a bind. I think there's two many messages coming in all the time and it would be better if these ones were differentiated with a separate message somehow.

    I'm afraid the telly -break all logic- presence is a product of the brutal Instant Transfer War of 3302. Meaning I am at fault and all the other thousands of participants fighting on each side. FDEV tried to dodge a new conflict by providing a lore explanation for instant crew spawning. Sadly an explanation rending the established lore and logic to shreds. Just a guess but it makes sense...

    The Type 9 model has a significantly larger volume than even the Cutter, which is very narrow along much of it's length. There's plenty of room in the Type 9, particularly considering the Type 9 would have a smaller distributor, thrusters etc that leaves lots of room for cargo.

    You had a point when I was saying it was a bad or wrong mod. Now that I have adjusted my rhetoric to 'rarely the optimal choice', I am 100% correct. I accept that some people's non-optimal playstyle may support non-optimal weapons mods. (just kidding, I do appreciate their very situational benefits, and that if like me you use beams 'just because they look and sound cool', then sometimes efficient is the only choice, however, if that person really cared about being optimal, they should use a different laser) :P

    It is strange indeed. The UI devs should be free to fix UI bugs, as they themselves shouldn't be directly involved things like the 'scrammer' bug or the LOD / texture bugs. It might be that the UI issues (overlapping text) are buried deeper in the Cobra Engine. I've basically given up waiting for graphic-specific fixes, because I would not be surprised if there's a "Cobra 2.0" (or whatever number) that they are working on that has some dramatically different coding involved in order to bring us 2018 Q1 planets. I worked on a project once where we put certain bug fixes on hold because we were rewriting a core part of the program where these bugs resided. It made more sense to put our efforts into finishing "Engine 2.0" than to put time into fixing "Engine 1.5" which would be replaced just a couple months later. As for reappearing bugs, that one baffles me. The only thing I can think is that one person creates a bug, and later another person on the team fixes that bug, and due to a breakdown of...

    I didn't mean to insinuate that your method needed board swapping, I just edited to make that clear. :) Yeh, lucky system pairs have been a thing for a while and at least with data deliveries, the money is rubbish, so FD will never care really about nerfing the rep gains! :) We should probably make a super thread of these kinds of systems, so FD can nerf them one by one (I kid, I kid, lol).

    The path that led us to this is pretty stupid at every point along the way. 1. They decide to couple first- and third-person animations, in part because it's supposed to make it easer to capture — you just need one set of animations for both uses and in part because “fidelity”. This means running a whole bunch of irrelevant animations any time you move and also requires every little thing to be synced with everyone or the point is lost. 2. They decide to attach the camera to the character model, because duh, you eyes are attached to your head and your head is attached to your body. As the third-person model bobs around, your first-person head bobs around, and your camera follows this head. Never mind that the brain edits out this and all other noise and presents you with a stable, in-focus, clear view of the world — all of which is completely contrary to what you're actually seeing and someone at CIG thinks that “fidelity” means ignoring all the cognitive processes that determine what you see. Nonono....
