The update has been done for Open, the other modes aren't getting any more updates (probably) :D

Really, you find it odd that a community of people would develop standards and norms of behavior and castigate those they break those norms? I would find it odd if they didn't as this is what people have always done and will always continue to do IRL or for that matter in simulations.

But there is much pot calling kettle black here. When I lost my cutter in a letterbox due to a tsunami of munitions hitting me as I committed to my exit... They did not come from PvErs. So whilst there's some code of respect for some, there isn't for others. How do distinguish on the fly?

They always say that so that none of the fanboys start crying. All 3 versions will probably be the same gameplay wise. Graphics and performance wise it would depend on how well it's optimized for each platform. This is especially critical for PC. In the end it will probably look best on PC (if you have a good one), followed by Xone X, followed by PS4 Pro, followed by PS4 and XOne, if you look at it just from a HW point of view.

A vote means design by committee, not developer. In my opinion, this is Frontier's bed. They made it. They either remake, or don't. Like anything else, it would become a hill for people to fight and die on. No, Frontier need to make this call. They designed it, they can correct the player agency concerns. Either way, this is their problem to own, and solve.

The general idea is that you pay $50, have unlimited entertainment and can ask your money back whenever you dont like something. Sounds like a good deal! :P Seriously though, in the Netherlands there was a TV show called 'the moving judge', which featured an actual judge going around the country making legally binding verdicts. In one case, a violin player had a custom build violin for very cheap ($3000 or some such). After many years, she wanted a more expensive violin, and demanded the original luthier take back the first violin for the original purchasing price. He wasnt interested. The judge sided with the luthier. It was a fun case, because her partner was my piano teacher at the time. So on the air he had to defend his girl, while it was clear he wasn't really sure himself if she was on the right side of it. :P

Cheers bud, top info! I wasn't round for it, but understand from the Megathread that in the early days of the UAs there was speculation that some markings on them might have been a reference to the Pleiades. Any idea if that was ever confirmed or refuted? Anyway, I'll rephrase the question to what's the more pertinent point anyway - what has humanity been doing in the Pleiades, and what factors have driven the expansion of humanity's operations in the Pleiades. Edit - Out of rep, so have some virtual +rep!

I call my idea 'Spinning Plates' :D In gameplay terms it means a Power could totally ignore fortification for any length of time and do other things such as attack, but its a risk. Weighting between security and spy influence would be critical, and that it did not lead to everyone simply not undermining each other leading to a static gameboard due to inaction. If this idea was used, Powers would need to be fighting for it to work. Having it on top of undermining now would be great too, as it would allow non-combatant ships to directly affect powers. More ideas: Expansions could be augmented by hauling soldiers to stations in the disputed control system. So those Dolphins, Orcas and Belugas could be like troop transports of WW2.

At some point I might. I want to enjoy larger group focused things some day, and Open will probably be where I do that, naturally. I always envisioned I'd end up going back to Open when I really sat down and tried PP and other stuff. This change won't really affect that.

It won't change anything though and will be a waste of development time unless you sort out instancing. For example: Blocking the opposition means your not instanced with them. What needs to change is the blocking mechanic needs to be ignored if you in a opposition PowerPlay area of space. If your hell bent on making it Open Only you need to change the blocking mechanic to compensate or players will just block everyone and undermine them that way.

I'll just grind missions for 10 merits a pop or whatever minuscule amount they may give, should I desire any other powerplay module.

With PP and BGS removed from SOLO (and group?) It opens doors to buffing ships and modules to balance PvE in these modes. Unencumbered by PvP balance, SOLO (and group?) can flourish as well rounded PvE centers with finally ship balancing that isn't continually twiddled for PvP fairness. So if you ask me... Disconnect of PP / BGS from these other modes would be a great thing with this extra tuning.

100 % Solo player here - it depends on other changes to PP done if those are interesting than maybe yes. But currently I am totally burned out and playing other games...

Absolutely. 3.0 launched three weeks into February, so we're just about three months on from that now. I'm pretty sure from what they said at Frontier Expo that the intention is quarterly releases, but the releases don't need to be exactly three months apart. I'm guessing whoever project-manages the development has pencilled in Feb, May, Aug, Nov as the release months, allowing up to a month of slippage to allow for the sorts of thing that inevitably happen with all software projects. It is important to remember that 3.1 will not be introducing masses of new features or QoL improvements. That's 3.3, in Nov/Dec.

But does it, mechanic wise, offer anything new to the table for PvE players they'll miss if it goes open only? I did PP a bit back then and it seemed like, if you take the player-oriented stuff out of it, to be the same grind as normal trading, but without any trading tools and way less rewards (except for the modules). I think the proposed change is good for making it work better for the Player-oriented stuff, or alternatively work on making better PvE mechanics, but right now it kinda blows for most. Which has traditionally been the dominant opinion about PP anyway. Either way, something needs to change, and I can understand given the design and the lack of player-directed features that this one goes to that group. Honestly, with the trading additions BGS trading is way more fun anyway for PvE, and mining/explo should get some love this year as well.
