I agree. Although i also think that Thargoid content needs an upgrade. But not one which pushes players into it, but one which makes them even more interesting and more rewarding. Not necessarily in terms of credits. (AX CZs give acceptable money. It's not a gold rush, but it does pay. ) What really needs fixing is to make it feel more rewarding and less of a hamster wheel. But there's a thread about that in the suggestions forum. I guess that's the better place for this topic.

I completely agree with the OP; however, the instanced structure of the game will not allow it. This is not a single shard megaserver. It's like moving from one box to another with transitional loading screens for each box. The only compelled portal for game action is the supercruise interdiction. The design philosophy is obscenely passive.

Erimus answered the extent of what we can do. There absolutely cannot be any "pay to win" attached to the mugs so unfortunately we can't link buying the mug and getting on the roster. As for your other ideas, one of the main reasons the roster was closed was due to the amount of work it entailed, a problem not surmountable because of the complexity of the operation and the tools at our disposal, so as good as those ideas are, they do indeed only lead to more work and thus probably can't be implemented. I am so sorry about that. What does end up happening with the roster and late late comers etc will be decided in future so keep an eye out. It's possible you will get a roster number so maybe hold off on the mug until then. Otherwise, I don't see why the roster number makes the mug more or less official. Buying it puts you in the mug club, gets your name on it, and has the official stamp of DistantWorldsApproval :D Up to you of course!

The only valid reason to fight Thargoids is that you want to, because it's fun, because it's the kind of gameplay you enjoy. Those who want to fight them are doing so. Those who don't want to don't have to. There's only one set of people who aren't happy about this: the people who want other people who don't want to fight Thargoids to be forced into doing it. Really, why should anyone think they have the right to control someone else's gameplay to that degree? I find the whole attitude unpleasant. Do what you want to do and don't worry about it if other players make different choices.

Was it busier last year? I don’t remember now :) The mapping and bonuses make credits so abundant that I fear the bubble is going to experience Weimar Republic / Zimbabwe levels of hyper-inflation ;) I earned more in 2 months than I did in the previous 10! I don’t usually bother carrying cargo around now either, unless it is rares or something specific for a mission, it just isn’t comparable to going out to throw a few 8-bit probes at a planet ;) In my next few sessions, I am going off to try mining, before going off to so the Guardian FSD booster: Both activities promise to see even more credits flowing from the veritable cornucopia of Universal Cartographics, not to mention the profit from blasting rocks...

Its fairly obvious I was listing already disproven Captain Marvel cinematic comedy conspiracies and the obvious counters to them. Hence my use of the phrase "series of desperate lies". By using the phrase "get stuffed you nutter" in response to the latest conspiracy I'm simply continuing the process to the only logical conclusion. If you insist on feigning outrage clutching your pearls and swooning at my very sensible reaction to laughable internet cobblers I can always fetch you the smelling salts. It seems a little contrived however. You know that already though, its why you had to cut most of my post away to remove context.

Some things don't actually need much new added, and can simply be predictable dangers from the general environment. In the example I gave above, ambient radiation danger can simply be a function of the same mass distribution that give rise to the galaxy itself in Stellar Forge: High mass values in a sector will directly translate to high radiation values (possibly modified by star type distribution as well), since 99 % of mass in the galaxy is stars. :D S

There does need to be a bit more consequence for actions in ED. It can take quite a lot of effort to become hostile with a minor faction. But not a lot to fix it. IMHO, that's backwards. Hostile should mean hostile too, so the station will shoot you down on sight, that factions security should chase you around. (You can always dock at a station they don't control though). And it should take some dedication to actually bring your reputation up from hostile to unfriendly.

Hi, New to Horizons and surface prospecting. Is it just me, or are prospectable rocks few and far between? Like several KMs apart. Does it vary from planet to planet? If so, is there a resource which lists the most "densely rocked" planets? Thanks!

I don't think it'd have cut down its Playerbase. Quite the opposite. No idea how many Players the Game lost just due to the non-existing C&P and exploits in Open Play alone. But that alone is very likely alot. And I assume noone loves those gross inconsistencies or stuff that never made a grain of sense, with the exception of a very tiny minority maybe that capitalize upon that condition. We'd operate in a world without these issues - but with a whole lot more Options. And rewards for those who'd dare to take up the risk or challenge. Folks could still run Trade loops in unshielded Type-9's amongst safe and predictable Systems though, things like these wouldn't even change. Just take a tiny bit more consideration and accepting standard profits maybe, but that's about it.

They can't remove them as so much of the game is build around credits, but a re-balance would be a good idea. I think they really need to adjust risk/difficulty to reward levels, and maybe add some shiny new things to buy. Also they REALLY need to nerf the whole void opal thing.

I think I am settled on getting the HyperX headphones after digesting all of the above. I don’t have the mounts or any other need for a single mic, the HyperX has extra value for using in Skype / Web conferences and as a pair of nice headphones for other purposes, and has the required mic to boot. I am very grateful to Para Handy for the expert advice and recommendations in detail, which saved me a good deal of research over and above what I did already, and Chris’ comment about the 7.1 headphones sealed my deliberations, so thank you both :)

As well... - Investment is totally unrelated to expansion now, and is just a heightened economic boom. - The combination(s) of Boom, Investment, Civil Liberty and Pirate attack have siginifcant impacts on the price of core minerals - "Triggers" such as those in pre-3.3 BGS for Boom, Investment, Bust, Famine, Civil Unrest and Lockdown no longer exist, rather they exist as points on the slider. That last one is the biggest one, and why a significant portion of the guide is no longer valid. One does no longer just "does activities which cause a state". Using the old system, you could quite happily jump from Economic Boom to Famine in a single tick, just by doing "Activities which cause famine". This is no longer the case. Rather, there are now just activities which increase/decrease economic/security sliders. You can no longer "jump" to a state. So if you were in an Investment state, and wanted to cause Famine, you'd need to do a large amount of activities which reduce the economic state over the...
