My patience has ran out. I'm playing Elder Scrolls Online now. Haven't even thought to update Elite yet. And when I did today, I just thought to myself "I'd rather just go to Tamriel". ESO is a game that has a lot of depth. Should've got into MMORPGs long ago.

I have played the game for ages - but I have never killed a Thargoid. It just doesn’t appeal to me. However, since killing Scouts gives you the fastest combat rank increase I am going to begin :) . So - is the Challenger considered as one of the best ships for Scout hunting?

I noticed this a long time ago. Way back in DW1. So this has been going on for some time now.

The alternative to engineering your FSD is to take part in the Guardian mini-game that allows you to purchase a Guardian FSD Booster. That will provide you with up to a 10 ly boost to any ship, including any ship you purchase in the future. It can be undertaken part time, but you will also have to obtain appropriate materials, so it might take some time. But it is still playing the game without any engineering. Also, the Guardian module 'game' is ideal to play with a friend (if you have one in the game) because you can help each other through the process at the Guardian ruins.

That is a strange one mate, am running a 1080TI and getting 90FPS with pretty much everything on ultra with the CV1. Are you sure ambient occlusion is turned off? That is a performance killer, although I was hoping the 2080 could power through it. What about other VR titles? Btw, you don't need that debug tool anymore. You have a beast rig, switch off ASW and just crank those settings up.

The current jump range shown in the galmap takes into account the fuel, but the route plotter has always assumed a full tank.

I would use the example of bounty hunting in ED. You turn up to a RES site, deploy hardpoints, scan ships for being wanted and engage those ships with bounties. That as a mechanic is not very deep and the AI is spectacularly stupid, not so much in combat but for showing up to a RES site (with a bounty) in the first place which is crawling with system security and bounty hunters. Then you have assassination missions, again fairly shallow, pick up the mission, go to the system, following the mission waypoint, drop in, fight. There is no element of 'hunt' in either of these scenarios and they both lack depth in that they are overly simplistic, require little thought or problem solving skills from the player and are repetitive, playing out largely the same each time. The combat mechanics however are quite deep in that there are many different loadouts and ways of engaging, long range engineered rail guns for precision sniping through to point blank frag cannons and everything in between.... plus...

First of all, I am an explorer. Nobody one-shots me because nobody can catch me. The safety of my trip into and out of the bubble is entirely my responsibility. I don't one-shot anything except screenshots. Secondly, escaping another player who is trying to kill me is gameplay. Gameplay isn't defined by you and your personal, subjective definition of what does and doesn't make gameplay. It's defined wholly and entirely by the fact that you're doing stuff in a video game. Evading an interdiction is gameplay. Failing to evade the interdiction, and then still escaping a barrage of weapons fire from an assailant, is also gameplay. Failing all of that and dying to said barrage is also gameplay, entirely by virtue of the fact that it's part of the game you are playing. There are other players out there that want other things than you do, and every game needs its villains. What better villains than other players? I never called it 'competitive PVP', not in the sense of Esports or anything like that. I can see...

Everyone should actually expect everyone to be a ganker in open mode and build their ships/plan their actions according to that. It's a very dangerous galaxy. I still suggest you guys to actually try pvpiracy to see all the problems yourself :D

I noticed this a lot before Beyond. It's swings and roundabouts: sometimes the number of jumps to a destination can increase by as much as 5 after re-logging, sometimes it goes down. It probably depends on your location and the number of stars to calculate also. I would have thought that a jump calculation was precise for a given position, but apparently it is not. I could never work out what affected the difference between one log-in and another, unless fuel has been rounded by a decimal place.
