    I can relate to the OP's viewpoint. I'm a selfish player. That's just honest, I'm not in it for a community (or your revolution) and being of a certain age, I don't subscribe to the view that a game must be multiplayer game to be worthwhile. For the most part I want to be the one making discoveries, not reading about somebody else doing it. I sometimes think FD have been seduced into thinking that the game is the servicing and maintenance of their game engine rather than the actual player's experience. Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for FD andI love the game, but in their position, I think an element of this is a genuine risk.

    Or we could do what every other game does and have the 15 second be extended indefinitely so your ship remains in-game until combat ends. Then it doesn't matter. You can't menu log to escape combat anymore, and you can still menu log if you have a life emergency.

    Stupid thing is to defend the guys who attack poor lone trader with the wing of Vettes and FDLs, just because they want to swap system status, with no chance to escape for the trader or consequences to that criminals

    It was definitely cool. I was in my own new DBX, 'A' rated, but the optional internals were geared for exploration (so no additional hull or module reinforcements). It was actually the second stop on along the quest line, I'd already handled 1 black DBX at the previous stop and thought I could handle two. But nope, I could not. I'd intended to go exploring towards one of the nearby nebula, but stumbled across the secret listening posts and got side tracked by them and then the CG at HIP 17692, before eventually heading off for Sag A. That was almost 6 or 7 weeks ago now. Even though its unnecessary, I think after the current CG ends tonight I'll head back there in something more heavily armed and finish off the quest line.

    There has been quite good dialog, actually. Unfortunately, it's the usual "point finger repeatedly because this solves world hunger, cancer and everything else every time" hijacking of "blame a part of the community" rather than asking Frontier, what it is they are doing, why aren't they doing it and maybe they should. The finger-pointing? Frontier get a free pass, because players are holding other players at fault, rather than realising it's the game's lack of mechanics that's actually the problem. And always has been. C&P is a bit of an endless cycle, but what we have now, is very clearly not working in a manner consistent with expectation. It's, in fact, not even close.

    In the same way that you say we don't have to know the purpose behind you attacking a player, you in turn don't have to know the reason for someone menu exiting. Real life does get in the way sometimes. If you think a player is repeatedly doing this then just block them and/or report them and move on.

    Pretty common if you stack 'find us X ' missions - they tend to have an NPC attached to try and stop you - think I've had 4 in a row trying to get to the return station - wish I'd had some weapons on board that night :)

    So anybody who runs a 7k hull tank with boosted prismatics gets a free pass to never die in combat ever again because all they have to do is make their ship able to survive for 16 seconds under fire? What a stupid thing to say.

    I played the old Elite and also Frontier and First Encounters, so I was prepared for the gigantic learning curve and the scale of the game. I think though, most gamers nowadays are just used to jump into a game and getting all the mechanics and stuff served, which is a valid assumption because games work that way nowadays. There is just so much to consider in Elite: Dangerous that this wouldn't be very practicable. It's Space Sim, which is a dying kind nowadays, but that means you really need to learn how your ship works and all the mechanics. In return you will have much, much better control over it than in other space games, where the only things you have to care most of the times is speed and weapon control. The basics are pretty simple: There's normal space, where you steer your ship with thrusters, Supercruise which rolls up space for you like a carpet, means you're much faster but you can only go forwards, and hyperspace which throws you into the witchspace tunnel like a wormhole.     Depends on what you mean by 'combat logging'. If you mean 'exiting to the menu' then that's working as intended and, as pointed out above, you still have 15s to melt the other guy. Should be even easier since they're just a sitting duck. If you mean 'yanking the network cable' then absolutely that should not be allowed, and repeat offenders should suffer some consequences.

    Congrats.. still no word on when mines arriving, other than 5-7 days estimated :(. Stupid thing is, I could drive to the overclockers.co.uk store, it's literally an hour's drive away! Definitely post your elite FPS results when you're all up and running, gotta know how much faster it is than my current setup!

    A Crucial MX300 525 Gig should be on it's way to me soon. Don't know if I can stomach a clean install though. I had a load of headaches last time I did that with multiple calls to Microsoft required to sort out why Windows wouldn't activate.

    I don't expect Thargoids to have the same tech humanity does, so why not have a different type of setup? If not, thargoids would be just a re skinned thougher version of our npcs.
