Yep, that's what I said. Don't engage the DC when in the toaster/slot and by that I mean any part of the ship being still inside. Works every time at crashing the DC.

I would personally like to see a HUD Module-slot; Combat HUD (enhanced tracking, and movement information {visual presentation of flightpath 1 second in the past, plus an estimation of the next second based on the vector}) Trading HUD (prices and other station information gets shown upon entry of the system) Exploration HUD (gain extra information of planets on your screen, including special planetary locations) Worker HUD (gain a grid around the surface all objects within 1000m which enables you to see better in the dark, maybe get information on floating objects such as ore as well). etc.

Just a suggestion, but DON'T engage the DC until you are completely through the mail slot. Never had an issue doing this in my Python.

There are multiple factors here that can explain this behavior. But these kind of problems always incorporate the hideous feature called NAT. The way NAT works is that all traffic you initiate (like going to a web-page) the router/firewall knows about who initated the traffic and thus know where to deliver the return traffic, but if another computer wants to iniatate traffic against you, then the router/firewall have no idea where to send that traffic. To solve this problem we can make a configuration in the router/firewall to do what is called port forwarding, to tell your router firewall that traffic that arrives on this port goes to this computer, and UPNP is just a fancy wrapper to allow your computer to tell the router that you want port X forwarded to your computer, and once you are done, it removes the forwarding untill you start the program next time. Why do we have NAT? becuase we still use TCP IP version 4, and we have a finite number of addresses, and sadly, way over there, Australia,...

If realistic, I would love there to be also some very thick rings around planets. I would be exciting to go there and there could be asteroid bases in some of them. And also some rings with much less particles/asteroids in them, or rings with mostly smaller particles. With all kinds of options like that and the possible combinations thereof, there could be some interesting ring variation in the game.

Gah...! Flying my Python into an Orbis station just now. Manually got it into the mailslot and engaged the DC. DC promptly wedged me tight in the mailslot, couldn't reverse, couldn't rotate, couldn't budge. Got melted. Not entirely happy.

I dropped the link in just so that people knew that something they may think to be totally innocuous could actually result in Frontier taking action against them. Whatever anyone may think about the rights and wrongs of this, it's the first instance I have seen of Frontier taking action against players. I may be adding 2+2 together here and getting 42 but I wonder if this link is related...

Gemai replied to a thread [ED64 - 2.3.02] Didn't Land Quite Right... in PC & Mac Bug Reports
I had this happen in space in 3488 of Bouwens Landing. It also acted as if something was there and I broke speed to 0. I had to wiggle free to get out of that. I figured it was a "ghost station", the server not updating the actual location of the space station correctly. It didn't damage me though. Considering you are not at a base, that seems odd. It can't be a wrongly loaded object like in my case.

Phasing sequence only deals a trivial amount of hull damage through shields, so meh -- especially at the cost of overall DPS, which is really meh. That said, I'm getting quite bored of nuking NPCs and wouldn't mind having a combat fit that's viable for both PvP and PvE. Pulse and burst lasers do seem to have the edge over beam lasers, since anything aside from "efficient" makes beam lasers drain the capacitor far too quickly to be useful. I'm gravitating toward pulse lasers, although it's tough trying to decide between fixed and gimballed -- and efficient or long range.

I've already addressed this point. Please read my post again. Again, this has already been addressed. To reiterate, you're not the arbiter of fun for anyone else, and you're pissing in the wind if you think you're not using entirely abitrary criteria for determining what other people enjoy. Nice. Your strategy for dealing with dissenting opinions is to repeatedly invite those who hold them to leave the conversation. I would surmise that you're not the high school debating champ. In other words, you're not even wrong.

A good post! Reped. If I'm doing runs (for rares this week because of the CG), I usually use the time the DC is docking to look up and plot the next jump. As you said, we are all perfectly capable of landing our ships, it is just a matter of using the time efficiently. A lack of piloting skill is not the reason the bulk of commanders use a DC.
