I suspect that he had contracts and licenses signed by the time he decided to change the game to an MMO. Technically, he could still have pulled it off, but adapting CE to the type of MMO he wanted (CE has powered an MMO before, but the company involved needed to totally rework the netcode whereas CR needed to upgrade to 64 bit, replace the AI engine, upgrade the physics engine, etc as well) meant CR would be effectively creating a brand new engine anyway. There are several factors involved here/. 1: As stated, I suspect that everything was signed when he changed the scope of the game. He'd had CE delivered, Ilfonic had started development, etc. He had, in short committed himself. 2: The GLA prohibited him from engine development for two years following its termination. 3: It's only because he did take the "unconventional" and "radical" (aka stupid, moronic, etc) decision to simultaneously develop the game and engine that he was able to create the "content" that attracted game funding. 3: Chris...

All of the above and more. I suggest going to one of the products web sites and check it out for your self. The entire keyboard at one hands fingertips. I doubt the wife and I could even play games without one anymore.

When are you people going to learn that FDev don't give a * about what you want, or about what you suggest. I mean seriously, they have decided not to give us a dedicated rack for the miserable new ADS; what chance do you think there is that they'll give you what you want? Wish all you like...but you won't get it.

Sure if you're min-maxing. Personally I role-play that my ship needs a shield to avoid micrometeorites etc. Then again I would also never leave without a few weapons, cargo bay, chaff (for celebrations), etc. etc. Yes, it means I have 10LY or so less range, but so what? Exploring (for me) isn't so much about getting to places as quickly as possible, but exploring on the way to somewhere. The only time when range is absolutely necessary is when exploring the fringes, and yes, I've absolutely cursed the lack of jump range a few times. But then again, I'd still be cursing the lack of jump-range no matter what in those situations as there's always that one system just out of reach... Each their own :)

This would be great :) Liked the idea of weapon / module naming on another tread too. Great for quick identification, but making you identify with your modded kit too ;) Having a 'gather my piracy kit' option might be good too. IE if not all of the allotted gear for the template is available have a one-click option to get the disparate parts sent over. (And maybe a second option to buy all locally available missing items?)

If you had asked me before the last update I would have said no stay on W7, but since 1803 the vast majority of issues I was having have been fixed. - Windows custom scaling is still a work in progress and sometimes it "forgets" to apply it upon login. if you're just using bog-standard 1920x1080 at 100% you'll probably have no issues - some of the settings windows are still carried over from W7 control panel - it really is about time these were integrated into the W10 scheme (ok it's not a big deal but don't tell me MS can't afford to finish this job) - W10 (specifically the desktop) feels snappier compared to W7 but that's probably because there are very few hi-res full-colour icons any more - the built-in backup options are limited in the Home version (thank god they include the old W7 backup) though I guess MS knew most people would use a 3rd party app anyway. Options in the Professional version (specifically network backups) are better If you mean the issue where W10 does not see a remote...

Sounds about right. I have the ramp and boost as well, but not starter. The only things I'm missing from old version is race initiator, the standing planter that produced carbon, and the garage door. Not sure why they're gone. We need submarines and proper airlock rooms for entry and exit to water. Yup. Those are good ways of doing it. I built a small base on my freighter at first, but later when I switched up to a larger freighter and learned that it doesn't move the things or materials to the new one, all lost, I decided to build on planet -- for now.

Can you source your empirical fact please, specifically that board flipping is having a catostrophic effect on the mission generator. I don't think I've seen Frontier say that.

The same reason a passive sonar array on small research sub or ROV is much less massive than one one on an Ohio class nuclear boat, even if they have similar overall capabilities. Bigger ship has more area and needs more sensors for good coverage, more distance between the sensors and the radiators, and more conduits connecting it all together. Not passively and only from certain angles.

I, also, am a member of the minority of players who don't board flip during their play sessions. You know, the 97.2% of board users who aren't board flipping on any particular day.

Welcome to the party! I actually considered circumnavigating Charon a few months ago, it’s a rather lovely and interesting ice world. Enjoy the drive, it can actually be a lot of good fun. I’m sure I’ll do another one some day. Good luck, and stay safe!
