Posted in another thread also, but since this is about freedom of action... The problem is that Elite: Dangerous is being designed from the wrong direction, so to speak. The premise is that you are just an average guy in a big universe, trying to make a living with his spaceship. Basically the player experiences the game world from the coal face, looking from the bottom up to the stars. But the game world and its narrative are being designed from the top down; from a God's eye perspective (e.g. Powerplay). That works for strategy game where the player, too, experiences the game world from a God's eye perspective (like e.g. Sid Meier's Civilisations), but not for games like Elite Dangerous, where the gamer experiences the world from ground level. There is a disconnect between the narrative, which is happening "up there", and the gamer's direct actions and experiences, which are "down below here" --hence a sense of disconnect between, and irrelevance of the player's actions to the narrative. When you...

Ya I know about the Isle but there could also be an entirely new game that has the code of the isle, but the dinosaurs and graphics of Jurassic World Evolution and when I said be made in the future, I mean like 20-25 years from now. The isle doesn't have Hybrids or a lot of the Dinos that JWE has. To say it plainly, someone should make a game where you can be any Dinosaurs of the 48 currently in Jurassic World Evolution, in either a theme park or the option to be in prehistoric times, with (and this is the most importantly emphasized) the graphics of the Dinos in JWE and you start with a small herbivore( such as a Gallimimus) and you level your way all the way up to a Hybrid (like indominus or Indoraptor). And you could select any skin tone, and try to survive and become dominant. It could be called something like; Jurassic World Survival

You do need to start at the console thingy in order to be able to get the pylons to raise up. When you have all the things you need to unlock the design, you need to visit a Guardian tech broker at a station and they will give you the blueprint in exchange for the mats and data you have collected. Get signed up on Inara if you haven't already, it's really good for tracking this kind of activity.

I kicked up a thread on this long ago and people here hit back at me calling high grade hunting "fun". It was from that point I gave up with my thread.

I think it's a good sign by Frontier that they are taking the effort in line with their announced new stage and "milestones" for ED. I agree having them go from less distributed to a more dedicated server for missions in the overall ED infrastructure could mean it's part of the overall upgrading and perhaps means more persistence of assets in the future which could mean more involved and detailed missions or something else in the future like atmospheric or spacelegs related side quests.. Exactly. In FE2 & FFE, you either waited a period (a day) or took off to try another station or even another star system for different missions. ED has too long catered to easy credits reward and convenient mission choice helped by allowing board flipping by logging. When it should make more sense from a sim or even roleplaying standpoint, that at a same mission board location, factions aren't necessarily always going to give out uniformly specific or lucrative types of missions conforming to the prospective cmdr's...

I like how we are adding the solution to this topic. I believe that following the current modality of the game it would be convenient that the feeder has more quantity of restockings (goats and meat), here we would solve the fact of going constantly with the rangers. The other solution to replenish the feeder would be that the automatic replenishment action is in this order. The ACU hicoptero can sedate the animal and when this action is effective, the jeep enters the enclosure. And manually, one should go with the helicopter and then with the jeep, as simple as that. (This way we would avoid always being aware of the death of the rangers). Now, another important thing, we know that the helicopter has finite tasks to perform, in that case if we had a mixed enclosure and / or with many dinosaurs that should be sedated, we should be able to have an investigation which gives us the possibility of having a repellent aromatic or sound like in (JPOG) to keep the carnivores and / herbivores at bay, and mentioning...

Yes, we have been told that the new scans which arrive at now DSS level detail will be quicker than flying to a body and DSS'ing it in the current system. The thing is, this discussion isn't really about time taken to explore a system. It's about whether you make a decision to explore a system at all. Explorers explore for a variety of reasons. Some want to find ELW's and WW's perhaps, some want to tag first discoveries, not necessarily important what they are, some want to find binary or trinary planet formations, some want to find green gas giants, and yes, some want credits and exploration rank. The new system does not give an overview that gives some of the above explorers an indication of what is in the system, a low level overview if you will, and that is potentially problematic. The new system requires you to scan a body to determine if you will find it interesting, and of course, if you don't find it interesting, then you've wasted that time, regardless of how short it was. :)

Thing is we can't turn away from fossil fuels for the heavy duty stuff. Planes, ships, trucks.....i.e. all the things that make economies actually work by shifting products around the world. And those are the major polluters in the western world. Also electric for just personal transport is still a long way off regarding range and speed of recharging. Notice how no electric car says how much the range is with heating on, wipers on, lights on....all things that reduce range! Mankind seriously needs a paradigm shift with regards to energy (as long as it's not "argent" energy from "mars" ;) ) I think I read something about the Chinese working on cold fusion. Also the thermosolar article Robin posted above. Even so I agree that this current civilisation will implode...just in about 70 is my estimation (possibley 50 years). Just not enough room on the planet or the resources for the amount of people....maybe 5 billion,. but current levels are completely unsustainable without sci fi tech like STs replicators.
