3 questions. Do BGS factions issue out some missions that self-sabotage their expansion or influence in other systems? Are the missions handed out by factions just random generated for content or is there some logic/reason for it? Do all missions lead to the mission origin faction gaining more influence in the systems that the tasks are done in, even if it involves handing data, scanning data points or deliveries to a different faction?

I fixed my post, thanks :) I understand what you're saying about having a minimum figure, it's interesting. If you had well over 20Bil would that become the new zero? Or would that be 100Bil? (not sure the game goes that far, IIRC Ed's dev account started with 63bil or so Cr).

To be honest I was wanting to create something like "the 400 jump challenge" or something, but then when I played with the galaxy map and realised I could travel some hefty distances in much less than that, I figured that 16,000Ly was a nice round number. Nothing unachievable, but still a huge chunk of the 29,000Ly I still had between me and Colonia. So I shrugged and sorta thought "Okay, 16k it is then, because I say so" :).

No, I'm saying that the one post in which I made that statement is what established it. Also that the only reason I felt the need to comment on it at all was the implicit suggestion that it may be otherwise. You know, the strawman. ;)

10Mcr? or 10Bcr? I'm going to guess 10 billion. 10 million won't even buy you a loaded Cobra MkIII. And 10Bcr is 0cr because once you have 10Bcr you don't want it to ever go below 10. My main account is right at 20Bcr with about 11Bcr in ships. I'm going to grind some cash to get it back over 10 and then probably leave it alone. Once you have all the ships you want you can get by with 1Bcr in the bank. Nothing is really that expensive, unless you're buying a new ship or transferring your fleet to Colonia.

Which is a laughable statement, in the current state of the game. Trade, as is, consists of some missions with arbitrarily high rewards for no discernible reason, and moving commodities that have been rendered irrelevantly inexpensive by massively inflated income. Yep.

I think the longest I ever did was 45,000ly in a 28ly ship before neutron stars (some 1600 jumps odd). From Friday afternoon to Sunday night I got in about 26 hours of game-time and a lot of netflix. Pretty much broke me for a few days but hindsight is 20/20 :p At the time I was trying to catch up Distant Worlds 3302 fleet but was most of the way up a galactic spiral arm so had a good 15-20kly of backtracking to do before heading towards Sag A*. Since then I've done a few ridiculous distances in short times with the Buckyballers, most notably 6.5 hours straight Sol-Beagle in one sitting but neutron stars and engineering make it too easy these days if you have the right route and ship you can do 12,200ly/hr!! Good luck anyhow, it sounds like you are a good way into the trip. I have to ask: any reason why you have the specific challenge or just that it was almost exactly 16,000ly?

If I were Amazon I would cancel CIG/RSI's AWS to bar them from using (and damaging the reputation of) LumberYard. From that strategic perspective it's pretty clear that in the following years the badmouthing will simply go on, but with "CE3" replaced by "LY". Someone in this thread argued that the game industry is well aware of that Chris Robert's legacy of failure is not CryTek's fault, so CryTek is fine. However public relations are not about all people being all throughly well informed. Some financial investor might have heard of the disaster only remembering "that CryEngine doesn't work", because Chris Roberts repeated it often enough through the media. Now when some new game developer presents a CE-based pitch demo to him, first question will be: "Why did you chose that engine? Use UE instead and you get funded." Bam, CryTek lost a sale.

Yeah, I've tried PSVR on a friend's PS4. I thought Farpoint was a bit disappointing as it all seems to occur in underground caverns and not on some space station as well (lack of environmental variety). Rigs is not a bad mech shooter. It's fast-paced and difficult. Nausea was a bit of a problem (latency possibly).

Yes I experimented extensively with the Beluga in the beta when it first came out, apart from one scrape where I dipped down to soon coming through the mail slot I had no issues, but then I appear to have very good situational and positional awareness, experimenting with conda's and other ships during the beta never gave me issues either. I think many people don't manage to adapt easily to different ship shapes and sizes and more importantly pilot positions and just aim with pilot centred through the mail slot, this doesn't work. Be aware of where the pilots position is in the ship in relation to where all the rest of the ship is and adjust accordingly.

I'm not having a go, I'm genuinely interested - how much do you think is enough? I reckon about 10bCr would do for me (my current total assets is less than 4bCr). edit: corrected millions to billions :D

Yeah, that's what I said. Beta at the end of January. Beta we can assume to last approximately 4 weeks. That's the end of February/beginning of March. If the Beta isn't smooth, for whatever reason, add a few weeks and we are getting close to April. I also don't hold me breath on the "scheduled" release of updates. They don't typically work out.
