Yep, awful arnt they? Still, they are something new and on top of what was there before so im not going to moan about them as the honk thing is such a huge issue. If there is one thing we need to get dealt with its that. Its going to be significantly painful in larger systems.

On the SA forum they are playing guess how much the Kraken will cost. My guess is $1800. What's your guess? We find out in less than an hour.

Ok, this has been a *fascinating* thread to read. Sent me down a few rabbit holes. Some takeaways - The posted stats/videos from AOS look like pretty credible evidence that *somebody* has cracked the problem of running automated flights. From a technical standpoint, it is absolutely possible to create CV-based autopilot scripts, at least for a subset of scenarios that occur in the game. There are even tutorial blog posts that do exactly this for Elite itself. Unlike the client-based hacks that game devs have been hunting down for years, these are totally undetectable with traditional DRM-type techniques, since they rely only on normal video output and KB/M input. Frankly any competent CS undergrad could probably throw one together given the sophistication of the available free tools now, so it seems safe to assume that several have done so. Obviously I have no idea whether Frontier is actively trying to detect this, but from what I've heard in other contexts, most of the large game devs have data...

You can say that until your blue to the face. But you are wrong. See players are not going to worry about 10% 20% reduction due to their fact of spamming probes. Get that in your brain. The only way frontier would be able to make your fact as a fact. Is cut it down to 50%. Make using excess probes really hurt. At least with my idea. It makes the player go hay if I practice I can waste fewer probes.

I think there is something between the two. I also feel accusing FD of 'scrambling to push something out the door' without anything to back that up is 'being very skeptical' in the way that believing the government put a remote monitoring chip in your blood is 'being very skeptical'. Anyway, I'm out.

No, I'll pass on that thanks. This is really getting quite wearisome. I would encourage you to be more specific in what you write in future, to avoid us having to guess what you really mean. Spelling isn't that big a deal as long as proper meaning is conveyed. "...and was denied by the lead author at the time" Well, he would, wouldn't he? ;)

So the only real reason we're going to have ∞ probes is so non-Horizon players don't get left behind... Okay then give non-Horizon players ∞ probes, and Horizon players 200 probes... problem solved.

doesn't say much on what they have been working. also, you didn't count them, right? but, ok, it seemed a lot of people to you. i'll take that. you saw the jurassic team too, by any chance? well, i saw the same new explo scanner screenshot a year ago. doesn't mean they had been working on it all year around. and i've seen the asteroid exploding in lavecon videos, though without fx. how long does it really take to blow up a rock? see, this is really starting to get a bit nasty. you are making a lot of categorical statements based on what you say you saw, which doesn't prove anything, and i don't want to even imply you are not telling the truth, but the truth is you're not able to back any of those statements, both due to your nda and the fact that you actually just had a few glimpses of what a company chose to show you on a staged event, so i doubt you have any real insight (no offense, you possibly couldn't) beyond having seen some spectacular unrevealed content. if that's so, we will see in...

No. Not yet. Still have to watch the Replay and measure the interesting factor. If it falls below a third then no hat eating will occur.

^this. I would hope the codex is able to incorporate all kinds of info and also serve as a "bookshelf". Besides including a pilot's manual, how about more lore guides on the inhabited landmark systems. Back in Elite2: Frontier, there were those in-depth booklets that came with the packaging. One was the general pilot's manual and lore guide and the other was a collection of stories. Since FD went to the trouble of more fine voice acting for the codex reveal, how about including a general manual, and more encylopedic lore guide entries to the bubble systems outside of what was posted in GalNet already? Specific pilot & lore guides to particular ships would be nice too.

Все правильно - дистрибутор состоит из трех капаситоров, у каждого из которых свои характеристики. Оружейный дает реген чуть хуже, зато увеличивает емкость. Маст хэв для бимовых фитов.

I'm not really bothered either way. As long as exploration isn't pushed to a "grind to explore" or "sit and wait doing nothing" mechanic, as often happens with changes to appease immersion.
