    Yes, it's almost as toothless as the rest of PvE. Your 600K is due to your rebuy. It can actually get a lot higher than this ;-) There are other ways to effectively defeat the PvE side of C&P. Ramming ships to death reduces the bounty to 5000 and avoids notoriety. One can sell explo data to the ruling faction right before they become hostile to make life easier. Jumping in and out of system resets the ATR timer. Et cetera. Exactly the types of quirks one finds in PvE generally. I wasn't saying C&P was an effective PvE deterrent, just that it makes it harder than if it wasn't there at all, and that it has a greater consequence in PvE than in PvP - greater to the extent it should be considered primarily a PvE feature. The fact it can be defeated relatively easily just makes it like everything else in PvE.

    And one other thing the trick to spawning hge is? I can harvest a hge in a system go back to super cruise and sometimes find another but after 3-4 of them it’s drier than Gandhi’s flip flops, at this point it seems more fruitful to go to another system - unless I’m missing something

    AI alone will hold position, at least it has every time I've tried it. That did occur to me but I've never put it to the test. As soon as I get a range warning I head back. One annoyance, more visual than anything else, is that the autopilot will always turn the mothership to face the SLF unless docking has been requested. It makes it quite awkward to get beauty shots of the mothership from various angles unless docking is requested, at which point the docking hologram can spoil the aesthetics of screenshots. Nothing major, but it's on my mental list of "tiny QOL tweaks" that I might get around to writing down one day. (It also occurred to me that this undesired rotation could be risky over very high-G worlds, if the AI pivoted the mothership to follow the SLF and slid off the enhanced vertical thruster axis. I'd like to believe the game is designed in a way that would prevent this, but having seen an underpowered mothership destroy itself in an attempt at an automatic launch to orbit with...

    Any ELW is gorgeous, whether it has a photo-genic moon as an orbiting platform or not :) A Krait named for the goat that fed Zeus and ultimately gave the gods the cornucopia should find plenty of ELWs ;) Indeed, it seems to have found at least 6 more than I have already :D

    That’s my idea. Those systems are unlisted so we can’t select them and investigate. There should be hundreds if not thousands of stars in the sky so it’s really hard to eyeball if some of them is missing on the galmap. And if Raxxla is a rogue planet (or on it / in an orbit around) it is impossible to see it with naked eye, even with telescopes. Those systems should require a special permit or high wake scan like action to be added on your map.

    One can quibble about difficulty levels but I personally believe the fact that W3 has compelling plot and characters (rather than procgen nonsense) to be a more fundamental difference between the two games than the difficulty level. Of course that's just a matter of taste so debatable. Ultimately any video game will become easy with enough practice (barring a few rare games with a very high degrees of randomness). For some games the level of practice required may be so absurdly high no one bothers, but it's still true. This is just the nature of games with predictable behavior. For games with unpredictable randomness, such as FTL, even then there is usually a "best play" method that is statistical in nature and players usually figure it out (often incredibly tedious). Some games combine the two. So for me any challenge in ED must come from either BGS manipulation (which is indirect PvP) or combat. I find the former tedious and opaque - thus it's pew pew pew for me.

    The main point of a PSN subscription is in-game socialising and teaming up. If you're going to only play Elite, in solo, then it's not worth it. To check if you want to fly in Open (vs Private Group), before buying a sub, try stacking a bunch of cargo missions in an unshielded unengineered ship. Being repeatedly pulled by the NPCs may sort of simulate flying to say Jameson in Open :cool: I suggest a Cobra MK4 MK3, so you don't lose too much money trying this out.

    Quick question... If I happen to come across a nebula that appears to have been previously undiscovered and I can't find reference to it anywhere online, EDSM or otherwise, can I name it? I don't mean name it in game, but I know there are many locations that people have discovered, reported on sites like EDSM and others have adopted the name given by the CMDR who discovered it.

    I would guess it's pretty essential for players who want to get seriously into PvP, or... er, ganking. As we know, by means of engineering, combat ships can be made extremely powerful, there are a variety of options which can be used in different ways. If you don't do it, you can't compete successfully in that world. Keep on atoning for those transgressions Feros! ;)
