    Starfield is a game I am looking forward to playing. However FO4 and the should be free multiplayer FO76 have drained all the faith out of me. Let's not even mention Blizzard. We all knew about EA anyway so the sci fi WW2 was expected. Why don't they just give us BF2143?

    They fixed it so you don't jump into and get stuck within a star. You can still jump into a close binary or trinary and get cooked. Has happened to me many, many times since 2.4. We had a fatality on a player event not too long ago due to someone getting fried. The rest of us managed to get away before our ships cooked.

    I realise this may be very situational but I'm pondering weapons for my currently unarmed Krait to cover a potential attack. If I fail an interdiction, I want to be able to return fire in case doing a Brave Sir Robin doesn't work. As you'll know, the Krait has three large and two medium hardpoints. What would you stick in 'em? (As an aside, why are they called "hardpoints"? "Weapon slots" sounds a little more logical to my ears!)

    This. It just has literally returned to the cargo hatch. It would just have to go back in (as long as there is still room). That it explodes is not only silly, it feels like some passive aggressive move by some developer... "oh you want to send limpets to collect specific items, okay you can have that, but *grins smugly* at a cost".

    It wasn't a "fix" per se, just a change in mechanics. Either way, I haven't been present recently - I'd be surprised, but pleasantly so, if we spawn close to all star types/formations again.

    All of that is true. Nobody is saying "they implemented the postprocess wrong and that's a bug." I'm pretty certain their postprocess shader is working exactly to spec. HOWEVER - to set the initial parameters of the postprocess according to the local stars color, leading to a correctly implemented filter generating incorrect results IS a bug. Its a GIGO bug - feed wrong parameters and the right code produces the wrong results. If that's what the spec say to do, the spec are wrong and its no less a bug if it was inspired by misplaced "creative vision" than if by an imaginitive but misguided coding shortcut. NOTHING tints distant stars seen from open space. Period. If your postprocess does that, its wrong and a bug. End of story no matter whether you think the galaxy looks more colorful after a hit or two of whatever you're smoking to fire your creative vision and want to paint the universe in pretty colors to match. It can be the most artistically inspired piece of creativity but that doesn't make it...

    S'funny but, a while back I used to regularly find myself jumping into systems so far away from the star that I could barely see it. Over the last couple of months, though, I've regularly been finding myself arriving in systems between stars again or, most memorably, flying through one star and stopping right in the middle of two stars with overlapping exclusion zones. Several heat-sinks were used there. Also, heat-sinks are handy if you're taking off from high-g planets and jumping straight to a different system. Sure, you can spend a couple of minutes getting back into orbit and then another couple of minutes leaving mass-lock but it's easier just to punch the FSD on the surface and then dump a heat-sink when things get toasty.

    Uh, negative. I just did the jump into system and got to do the "right through the star" scenario. Ended up putting me between the 2 stars and lets just say, thank goodness for heatsinks. Not fixed

    Tbf though the same could be said for most technological attacks. Honestly, for someone with half an understanding of networking, building a tool that manipulates connections - especially those as insecure as gaming connections - is a bit of a joke. And then all they need to do is turn that script into a distributable program, and script kiddies are running riot. But it's like saying "well you can't stop someone walking up to a man and stabbing him, so why bother having anti-murder laws at all?". You can't stop it all. But you can reduce it to acceptable levels.

    I don't see what would prevent fdev from having an ai pilot on standby just like we have with crew already, in the off chance that someone goes to the menu to quit while they're in the instance of another commander, there could be a 10 second or so transition to AI controlled vessel while the actual player disembarks. You'll still get your kill, and they'll still be able to chicken out. Win-win. The only issue would be accidentally making the AI replacement better than the player that left, so we'd have to set that AI to flee only.

    У меня сейчас есть шахтерский Т-10. Полностью "упакованный" под добычу в HazRES'ах. Считаю его абсолютно лучшим шахтером в игре, а перепробовал я на эту роль почти все корабли, включая редко используемую экзотику. Трюм 320 тонн с истребителем, AFM и банками (один из милитари слотов, второй занят ХРП). Иногда использую не по прямому назначению (копать), а как боевой корабль в тех же RES'ах и даже CZ. В целях "смены вида деятельности". С выходом обновы планирую заменить три ствола (рельс и две пачки пакхаундов) на новые шахтерские. И хитсинк на новый сканер, все равно ставил "чтобы было", банки можно жрать без синка не перегреваясь. На "пятых грязных" управляемость достаточно терпимая. Интересная и полезная для данного применения особенность: на одной пипке он быстрее Анаконды (хотя сильно проигрывает на четырех). Оружие рекомендую турельное, во все четвертые слоты. У меня эффективные берсты со скрэмблером. Т.к. дело происходит ВСЕГДА среди большого количества каменюг, то выключение движка противника...
