Not so, Robert. Open PvE would need an extensive re-write of the code around weapon damage and collision detection. That would take dev-time away from working on new roadmap features and bug-fixes to cater to a problem that already has multiple solutions. It's no wonder the devs are not even entertaining the idea of an Open PvE mode.

Because other players "can" kill you doesn't equate to "will" kill you. The chances of you meeting another player out in the black in Open depend on where you are to begin with, and other factors like whether or not those locations are populated with other players. If you're exploring 100K LY away from Sol you're not very likely to be "risking" anything, are you? Blanket bonuses to a mode are not justified based on your perception of "risk versus reward" simply because there's an mode change. There needs to be good chance that you'll likely encounter another CMDR, and that that CMDR will engage you in combat to begin with.

The defacto repsonse to any 'I got killed by a player' salt thread is 'go to mobius'.. is that not proof enough? Most players who play in Mobius consider pvp risky otherwise they wouldn't be there.. Superior? You said it not me.

Most of the time, being in open is no more risky than solo or PG. Just that odd time you meet someone hostile, and it's incredibly risky. Then it's back to being able to instance with precisely no one and your only risk being your lack of skills of outfitting. Because space is huuuge and everyone is spread out... Lol Solo could be considered more risky, because you have a 0.0% chance of receiving back up from a passing player.

Ignored again. It becomes clear its just better to ignore what Sandro says until simeone else shows it actually being a thing on a stream. Its not worth spending time on giving feedback on anything as its quite likely just a random thing in his mind, uconnected to any development plan. Its a bit odd, the combination of 'we need to be silent until we are dead sure about something' with 'here is a random and highly controversial brainfart.' I'd rather have them be open about stuff they are actually working on. But that could just be me.

Baron for Clipper, isn't it? I too wanted to rank up as fully as possible but, for me at least, it got to feel Grundy. ETA not Grundy, grindy. This phone is annoying me. Need to switch off the predictive whatnot

Not just PvP, any activity in open because the risk of destruction is greater if other players can kill you. Risk vs reward doesn't work that way... by being there you're taking the risk, whether or not you encounter the hazards is irrelevant.

there is a form of negotiation, is the the incoming message with a mission change from the opposing faction. the problem is that they money they offer makes no sense.

I always liked it in I-War when your distance was simply in Km, and zooming towards it saw your km count down really fast. It looked cool IMHO and added to the sense of scale. Seeing 2,941,696km rapidly counting down (or up) is far more interesting than 10ls... Most of us can relate far better to 1km than Ls.

Maybe give us a place to bring our cargo back to? It's weird being a pirate and not having a place to store booty.

EDMC is the way to go, it can seem a little daunting at first, but it really is easy to set up the API key at Inara and then install the connector. The Inara tracks everything you do and have and every visit at a station automatically updates commodty pricing for all players, it's something everyone should be doing! :) Additional bonus of EDMC is that it will allow you to export your ships to coriolis.io with all their exact specs. For new builds, you can create them in coriolis and in the shortcuts menu there is a button you can press to have it tell you exactly what materials you need to complete the engineering for the spec that is shown. Nice tools.

Mobius PvE, which has already broken the 20,000 player limit to Private Groups, already exists. To assert that somehow the existence of such player groups (Mobius PvE isn't the only one, just the most well-known) implies that somehow there's no "risk" in Private Groups. Care to prove that? Many have tried, and many have failed. For over 4 years now. Just because you personally consider PvP to be "risky" doesn't constitute "fact". Prove that Open is somehow "superior" to Private Groups and deserves such a buff.

I love both but I have to admit I wouldn't have spent so many hours playing ED without it since it's part of my exploration process (I land a lot on planets). They seriously did an amazing job on planetary surfaces !
