Guessing it would be similar to Sucidal Squid from X3.

Please define permadeath in this context. 1) clear game saves and start over or 2) uninstall game never to return. These options are available now.

My argument isn't that it cannot be done, but that it's improper to do so. The game should not be catering to me as a player, but reacting to the character I'm playing. If I'm playing a mild-mannered Joe Blow type, who minds his own business and never sticks his nose into any dangerous situation, most of the game should be pretty easy, barring the occasional random misfortune. If I want to play a character who can single-handedly shift the course of galactic history...well, I had better be in the top 0.01% of all players in overall ability and determination, otherwise their is no reason for my character to stand out. Not everyone can be a main character, or even a local protagonist, in a story with a hundred thousand regulars in the cast, and it shouldn't even pretend to try.

Calling it now: by 2020 both Wargfoot and Null are leading packs of murderers around the galaxy in brutal competition. Their goal? To have a higher stack of bodies than the other. Donít say I didnít warn you.

To "Fix Combat Logging" and also prevent people from turning "Open" into "Private Group" or "Solo" with simple firewall configuration requires FDEV completely re-architect and reimplement the multiplayer networking code to switch from peer-to-peer to a client-server model. Never going to happen.

Yes we know, how about FD add a device to your PC/console so that on ANY kind of ship destruction (not just combat related) your PC/console blows up, would that make you happy? Would that be enough "difficulty" and "risk" for you? How much risk/danger is too much how much is not enough?? (yes I realise it's a silly premise regarding the PC blowing up, but it leads nicely into the last sentence)

But what's your solution then? Cater for e.g. the lowest common denominator and you alienate at least 90% of your player base.

This sub-forum isn't nearly so active as a year ago, now is it? As to what I'm up to.... Having secured the Guardian FSD Boosters for my fleet I decided to put one through it's paces and get my exploration rank over the Elite line. Have turned in 86 million in data over the past couple of days and only need 24 million more. One more trip! I really like the new exploration mechanics. Mapping is the road to riches. I mean science. We aren't in it for the money right? Once I hit Elite that will be true :)

Hey man..people willing to join your cause who are being open minded to it being a trap is actually a good thing. It means theyve been hardened from experience in open. And trust me..those are the kinds of pilots you want in your group for what you are setting out to do there.. You dont want a bunch of yes men who just blindly go in. That would be lambs to the slaughter. Like i said..im in. In theory.

^This. I like Sci-Fi. Star Wars and Star Trek. But I also know to give them a lot of leeway when it comes to logic and reality. If one wanted to, they could rip apart any of the old movies and make a good living at it. Just ask Red Letter Media.

I got busy with RL and stopped following you guys before we got to Sag A. Now I'm on my way back to civilization so I can kill people there. Thanks for the pews and helping me get my explorer Elite!

You can (and should) apply the truth is somewhere in the middle the first time around. This has all been going on repeatedly for years now though. The conspiracy theories are funny but at this point nobody sane really believes any of it.

I'll try again...I'm ONLY using sport because it's the only place where there is a system to make things fair, I'm not comparing the "game" itself to a "sport". Making the game be hard for one player can make it too hard for another...that is not fair. Elite is a GAME not reality.

Thanks to Engineers it's meanwhile pure masochism. The whole game concept simply isn't made with ironman in mind. Just because it's doable doesn't mean it's advisable.

There is a quote on this forum of me saying all reviews are fake and the mags, the PC worlds and the influencers and the rest are a matrix of advertising designed to extract your money. There is a subnautica below zero review, it was well written and honest and it has well over 1000 upvotes last i looked. When you set reviews to "most helpful" its not even on the first thee pages when its got more upvotes than those three pages combined. This was before the recent announcement. Eyes open people you cant trust devs or publishers or online shops. You cant trust amazon reviews either. Then entire review system has been made worthless by exactly the kind of dishonesty steam is up to. BTW GOG is DRM free and says it always will be :)
