This is not about Nublar, but that we do not always want to go through the same and linear progression on islands that always have the same weather setting. I want to start on the island of my choice or even a self-generated island with a proper day / night cycle, with other "starter dinos" and decide when to unlock something. I want to adjust the difficulty (the game is far too easy) and make my own presets. As in so many other genre representatives

If the system you are in has stations, nearest station. If the system you are in does not have stations, last docked station in whatever system that was. (This probably also applies if the system you are in only has outposts and you're flying a large ship) This is assuming you're Clean - if your destruction is the result of someone claiming a bounty, you instead go to the nearest detention centre of the superpower associated with the bounty. So you can't just fly out to Beagle and self-destruct to detect hidden stations on that side of the core. You can use detention centres to get limited (and potentially expensive) faster travel to/from Colonia, or back to the bubble from deep space outposts like Heart and Soul / Crab / etc.

As a minimalist, I have grown to prefer digital purchases over actual material items. I'm not talking about essentials like food, furniture, and all of that, but rather the "oooh, that looks fun" stuff that just ends up collecting dust in a closet or garage and eventually gets buried in a landfill, adding to our environmental woes.

I got a refund this year (i think it was this year, but time goes by quickly these days), but as it was such a small sum, I don't think they were that bothered.

If they do a new engine, such assets will need to be reworked and recided. They can keep the artwork and design plans the models are based on, but the models themselves would be gone. Never say never. Blizzard scrapped Diablo3 thrice before the current version. Each time they went back to basics, did a redesign, tried to figure out what went wrong. That's why it took 12 years to develop.

I see the need but to be honest I am not at all sure that doing it this way (on the map) is a particularly good approach. I haven't even bothered with it. Nor have I used the trade routes displayed after the initial try because when I did use them I found that they were unreliable and in fact even seemed to tell lies. Perhaps it was just the way I was reading it but it shouldn't be ambiguous or confusing and I found it to be both. The thing is, the trade data you actually need is more granular than system-wide so the map is a poor place to represent it. Somebody above mentioned a trade computer - yes! Now we are talking. If it is going to be done then it should be done properly and with the appropriate methodology. Even if it requires enhancing and improving later it is better to start the way you intend to continue and on the map is, IMO, just totally the wrong approach.

While I agree with yer point, I just sorta wanna point out that the continued silence isnt making the situation any better, its making it worse. Thats called escalation and thats on FD. As to not handling criticism too well...either they have a not very thick skin or their ego got bruised, something like that cos ye know, this is the internet and this is what happens in a lotta game communities when the devs go into stealth mode...the bitterness and salt builds up and up to the point where community/dev relations break down entirely. In every single case, its the developers fault that things get to that point because they choose not to engage. This isnt the first game Ive played where this exact same thing has happened..didnt end well fer those other games and its beginning to feel like a well travelled road now. Starting to think frontier are no different and no more special than any other game devs Ive come across...despite the many claims to the contrary ^

You clearly don't understand how hurtful it is for them when the person they slag off and demand to resign doesn't bother to waste time on them.

True, in the usa i can the medical profession looking to make a tidy profit from this. It might even lead to specific 'gaming addiction' drugs. I really wish the USA would change how it works with this kind of thing. I might change my opinion just based on this possibility alone.

Lol, ain't that the truth. That's the nature of internet forums though. Here, we get a very unique mix of personalities though, which for me certainly explains most of the friction and also why it's so fascinating. Just needs to be shaped with more timely, relevant and actionable information from the system owners. If anyone is interested, search for terms such as Viable Systems Modelling, Requisite Variety and Channel Strategies. The definitions of Timely, Relevant and Actionable will be there somewhere.

If the above ever happened, the game really would end plain and simple, there are not enough people who do not have jobs other than to play elite, to sustain the game.

I've seen it before. Being critical of a thing, is somewhat different to taking exception to a thing. Indeed; that's exactly his point. And I dare say there is far far more exception taking, than critical thinking and or critical analysis happening on the forums, to be fair.

I went for the oculus as it is the lightest of the current gen headsets. As others have said, there are drawbacks for sure, especially given how Elite relies on external tools to be able to do pretty much anything. But the immersion is absolutely mindblowing - so much so that I prefer VR despite all the shortcomings, and once the next gen arrives with better resolution I reckon I will stop gaming in 2D all together.

. /sign . I am also one of those people who by now use material traders for uptrading. For some materials (e.g. iron) i basically did so since material traders exist. These materials come in "for free". (E.g. when you use yuor SRV to collect planed based G4/5 materials, you can't avoid finding lower tier materials. Scooping them in just adds a few seconds, it's nothing compared to the time you drive around. ) . So i don't loose anything by uptrading. The system works. I still would've prefered Engineers to be based on missions and services, instead of dumb material collecting, but that won't change any more. Within the scope of dumb collecting, the system by now is fine. .

Well my five banana tip-top-secret lab research installation faculty on Pena (with a back up power system and everything!) has three connected enclosures in a U shape, none of them are huge. Now, not able to see around the corner (U shape) if I close the gates, T-Rex finds any one of the three sections on it's own, too small and gets edgy. If I open the gate - and that's a not a huge gaping hole in the wall - now she's comfortable, so I don't think it's a radius thing.
