Highland Pack

I saw @Leaf Productions's 2023 yesterdat video, and I must admit the idea of a Highlands Pack kinda intrigued at the possibilty of that, so basically just throw out what you'd include in a "Highlands Pack"!

My personal votes: Lady Amherst's Pheasant, Markor, Spectacled Bear, Golden Snub Nosed Monkey, Wild Yak, Wolverine, Chinese or Japanese Giant Salamander

Pretty much the same although i prefer the takin over the Yak and i would like the golden pheasant more.

You are missing an animal here since i would assume the giant salamander will be an exhibit animal if ever introduce to the game. So for that 7th habitat spot i think the manul is a likely option knowing how much frontier loves their carnivores. Other option are the alpine marmot, the himalayan monal, the ethiopian wolf and the gelada.

In my mind no mountains pack is complete without eagles or condors but oh well, no flying birds for PZ.

Also the GSNM is also my prefered choice for a primate but i think the gelada is more likely for a pack like this.

My lineup would be:
  • Spectacled Bear
  • Wolverine
  • Gelada
  • Mountain Goat
  • Himalayan Monal
  • Takin
  • Pallas Cat
  • Chinese Giant Salamander

I'd absolutely buy this. Requisite inclusions of the Spectacled Bear and the Wolverine, and getting the Markhor would be an added bonus, though not as necessary for me. Beyond that, it doesn't matter what animals make it in for me, because it would already give me everything I wanted out of this theme.

If we get a wild yak instead of the domestic one im gonna riot
Honestly, I'd be happy with either, there's precedent either way with Llama and Wild Water Buffalo. I just like Yaks in general haha

I feel the Salamanders could go either way - they're definitely larger than a bunch of habitat animals we do have already, and it'd be nice to have a habitat amphibian. That said, they could also easily end up as exhibits.

Same as you tbh with the GSNM/Gelada options - can't imagine we'd get both at once, and my choices does make for a very Asian pack, so Gelada would balance that.

Honestly, I'd like both Golden and Lady Amherst's they're both just such beautiful species that bring colour to zoos, and I'd be very happy with either. Takins are great, but I think we need more bovines than caprids and yak are a bit more iconic of mountains for me?

My Highlands pack ideas

  • Spectatled Bear
  • Pallas Cat
  • American Pika
  • Mountain Goat
  • Golden Takin
  • Vicuna
  • Gelada
  • Asian Pit Viper (Exhibit)

Honestly, all rock solid choices, pun partially intended lol.

I did also consider a small mammal species of some sort? Mountain Hare, Rock Hyrax, Picas, Marmots, Viscacha, Chinchilla... even Guinea Pigs would all be fun choices, although I personally wouldn't pick them over some of the other options on the table.

My lineup would be:

  • Domestic Yak
  • Alpine Marmot
  • Wolverine
  • Spectacled Bear
  • Barbary Macaque
  • Gelada
  • Sichuan Takin
  • Siberian Flying Squirrel (WE)

I would include the Scottish Highland Cattle, but I think of we do get it it’ll be in a Petting Zoo/Children’s Zoo pack first. I think a Highlands pack would come in December, so a Highland Cattle hopefully would’ve already come before!

this is a super pack but the Golden Snub Nosed Monkey have a special behavior that they can walk on 2 leggs like humans you need to search it up or watch on disney + is very rare to encounter this behavior.this is the link (

I would argue the Highland cow is funnily enough not a high elevation animal. Maybe different outside Scotland but the original habitat is more lowland valleys in the Highlands. Most free roaming cattle are typically found from 0-1000ft (300 metres for you mainlanders)at best, since that's where all the good grass and shrubs are

But they do exist in the Highlands, no? Which is the name of the pack! They may not exactly be balancing on the top of Everest, but they’d sure belong in a Highlands pack considering that they are from the Scottish Highlands.
In any case, they do belong more in a Children’s Zoo Pack like I said, just because that’s probably what they’re known better for (being a domestic breed). I’ll take them any way I can at this point - more domestic species in any pack is a win for me.

Well yeah of course they still exist in the Highlands , if this Highlands pack is simply an animal that belongs in harsh mountainous terrain then yes the Highland cow belongs here. That shaggy coat is definitely for harsh environments, yesterday it was near 70 mph (112kmh)wind gusts, the average winter weekend on the west coast of Scotland. That being said one of the best chances to see large amounts of wild rabbits is offshore on a windswept island

For Highland animals of Scotland my list would be (including existing ingame)
  • Red deer
  • Mountain hare
  • Golden + white tailed eagle
  • Rock ptarmigan + red grouse
  • Reindeer
  • Scottish wildcat
  • Atlantic puffin
  • Highland cow
  • Pine marten
  • Capercaillie

Where's my Scottish pack frontier 🤣

2. Hamadryas Baboon (yes, i know Gelada is more mountains, but Baboon is more popular and Grasslands also introduced species that would fit better elsewhere).
