Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Whilst doing medevac from burning station in HIP 11111, en-route I came across a rather amusing FC name:

There are some really great names on FCs - that one just tickled my funny bone last night. (Maybe 'cos of all the fumes from the casualties in the hold. ;) )
Excellent!

Get thee over here:

Hopping back into my whack'em all conda. The NPC crew seems not using my fire group when in helm of my ship. Watching my gril train firing 6 rails from my conda is sort of ASMR thing.

It's a grind, but i'm covering myself for update 15!
Just in case I need to get out of dodge for a while, with all my ships :sneaky:

Good luck with the FC endeavour - and yes, I think we are the last 2 in game that don't have one!
500 Mil to go and I should have enough credits for a FC :)
When does update 15 launch? I may keep going and get some expeses in the bank, just in case!

I am pondering about if I should start saving for a fleetcarrier* or go on building my fleet...

Although, knowing myself, the only thing that can keep me from spending money for ships would be having them all... I guess.
From which I'm still quite a bit away, anyway. Still missing the Imperial Courier and the Vulture from the small category and quite a few of the mediums.

* Given I am able to take my credits with me when I finally manage to leave the museum...

Totally forgot... Yesterday's tour de force delivering stuff had me have some interesting experiences...
Those NPCs in those Belugas and Orcas are quite vicious and apparently not really aware of the size of their ferries...
In one instance, I was waiting for an NPC entering the station with an FAS, as a Beluga came steaming through from behind me, almost crushing the FAS, which was frantically trying to evade the BL, into the upper edge of the mailslot. 😨
Another incident involved my Python (which still needs a name). If the ADC hadn't decided to hide in a large structure potruding from the walls of the station, an Orca would have shoved me back to my landing pad...

And then I bet you will get fined for reckless flying..... because your ship come in contact with the poor npc's.

I got fined by boosting pass one without contact...🤬
Depends. I once had a tangle with an Orca while I was waiting in queue for them to pass the mailslot. The pilot of that one luckily realized what had happened and stopped so I could maneuvre out of this entanglement. This had happened with my Krait - a fin of the Orca got wedged between my wing and the antenna on the end. I didn't even get a warning for this one.
The same with this recent incident, only that the Orca headed directly towards the spot I was waiting in and looked scarily "fast".

If I had to guess, I would say you got your fine because you were too fast (boosting is definitely over 100m/s, unless you shoehorn some 1E thrusters into a T9 and set the power distribution on 0 pips for engine) and most likely put a little dent into the other ship's shields. Doesn't make a scraping sound, only a small buzz one can easily miss under the boost sound.

I'm still on my way back to the bubble so I can buy a fleet carrier. 817 LY from Sol now.

On the way I stopped again at the New Growth asteroid base in the Pencil Sector to offload more data and I'm thinking I must be one of the lucky ones, who has been able to accrue the necessary billions pretty quickly since the Exobiology rewards were vastly increased a few weeks ago. I guess before that it would have taken a fair bit longer, having to rely on mining, trading, exploration or whatever.

Also, I've now reached the end of the line re the Explorer ranks.

I was one of the first batch of CMDRs to get one, back when they were first released. Prior to the announcement (of carriers) I had about 1 billion in the bank, and I assumed it would be enough. I remember being rather amazed when the price was revealed to be 5 billion!

Those were the days of Void Opal and Low Temp Diamonds mining, when prices were high and hotspots worked well. Even so it took me many weeks to raise the cash. Fortunately I really enjoyed mining (and it was easier and more fun than it is now -- and the tools actually worked). So I don't regret it or feel upset that folks can get a carrier easier now. It's just typical game progress, I think.

Anyway, congrats are in order. You've done the work, you deserve the reward! I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Got the carrier now and found the crew. Wakey wakey!

I've put more than 4 billion in the budget, so shouldn't have to worry about that for a while.

My fleet is on the way over from the three different stations where they were and I'll bring over all my stored modules shortly.

When I bought the FC at Ehlanda, Clark Port, the system was already knee deep in other fleet carriers, so I guess there was no room for my carrier and it was sent to another system about 30 LY away, so I had to go there to board it. When I got there I checked one of my terminals, and enabled Refuel/Rearm/Repair but also want Vista and Cartographics. (Won't let me click on "Available Services." )

Also want to stock up on tritium but looks like I can't do any of that here, so if I go to a system where all that is available but can't dock anywhere as all full up, as was the case where I bought it, what can I do then? (I think there's sufficient tritium already to get me to one of those places by default, isn't there?)

All that said, I still haven't started figuring out how to launch the thing yet, and the crew doesn't seem all that interested so far...:sneaky::LOL:
