Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Aye, guess so. :sneaky:

I was landing on my FC just now and noticed another ship landing on it at the same time on another pad. As I play Solo I'm guessing it must have been an NPC ship and I've been trying to find some kind of log that shows the history of all ships other than my own that land on it, but can't find one anywhere. Looked in Codex as somebody on Reddit seemed to think you can find something like that in there, but I can't find it there either.

Does such a log exist does anyone know and where to find it? Cheers!
If you find anything that shows what ships other than you're own are docked on your fleet carrier, let me know.
I've never heard of any means of seeing this information. I think you're just seeing set dressing make your fleet carrier feel more alive. Why would an Orca land on our fleet carriers for refuelling or whatever when there's a station nearby? I don't know...

Again, INARA does that if everyone has an INARA account.

For instance, if you had looked at your carrier when I went out with you before I got mine on this screen, you would have seen me listed in the passengers section and the ships stored section:

If ones carrier is orbiting the local star, then it'll be closer than the nearest station (in most cases, I think...) AND also faster to land, refuel, launch than any station AND it has all pad sizes... 🤷‍♂️
Some of this traffic might be visiting to look for OD materials at your bar… the Orca passengers are likely going to be disappointed to find they can’t get a beer or a G&T, let alone a pan-galactic gargle blaster… apparently an RDX with a dash of epinephrine has quite a kick, though? ;p

I actually tried that once, but with nobody really running the market connector it was never updated and wound up being a colossal waste of time.
I’ve been offloading extra data / materials / goods to the FC bar for some time now, as i tend to be a bit of a kleptomaniac compulsive hoarder collector when i’m out having on-foot FPS fun - offering all the microelectrode / g-meds / financial projections you can eat for some settlement defence plans… :D

I am desperately trying to get my on foot missions going, but it's a tough row to hoe. The difference between a grade 3 and grade 5 mission is about like going to the corner store for some milk vs. going to Mars for rock samples.

I'm sticking to the low missions while I gather materials so I can engineer a couple of mods onto some G3 suits and weapons I have to get me off the ground.

Yes I guess a ship commanded by a real person wouldn't do that and there's several stations available in this same system- I certainly wouldn't anyway - but NPCs do strange things at times so as you and @Marvin the Martian said, maybe it was just dressing. In any case as I play Solo the only other ships I can actually see are NPCs.

Thanks. I do have an Inara account so I'll check in there. Maybe it would have shown up in Contacts as being on the carrier in the L/H panel if I'd looked at the time but didn't think of that. :sneaky:

On another matter, I have now configured this nice little ship that until just now hadn't flown since 2015 with an SRV and hangar etc, so when I eventually take the FC out to the middle of nowhere to look for salad, I can use it to land in spots that no other ship can land in.

My Sidewinder only has a piddly little jump rang of 6-something LY though so might need a visit to Felicity...

It doesn't work that way. It's only going to track INARA members. It's used more for teammates and friends than anything else.

Example: you plan a deep space trip and tell people when you're leaving. You're not sure if I'm on board or not, so you check there. If I'm there, you'll see me listed and know whether to PM me and tell me to get the lead out and get on board or go ahead and start jumping.

It's not going to just track random game NPC's and people that don't have an INARA account that keep it up to date.

This could be a stroke of genius - generally been using my trusty Phantom for Exo, or older DBX to get to fungoida in the mountains… but a Sidewinder might well be even better for landing in those tight spots… hmmm… should’ve got it chromed over the holidays :]

Oh cool!
Thanks.
I never checked the MISC tab before. Either one of the commanders from the expedition has not updated their Inara data in a long time, or they still have 5 ships on my carrier from October's expedition.

Last night I performed my first successful non-violent heist...that was a rush...

I also took out 8 scavs at a crash site with my G3 Exec w/greater range...when they have their shields down, I can one shot them from about 100m...they don't even know I'm there

All of my gear is still as-purchased G3 w/1 mod each. The only combat missions I haven't been able to compete in are the Protect missions, which IIRC are all wing/team mission anyway. Even High ground CZ wins are routinely achievable in G3 gear...

But I'm getting close to having mats to add both Extra Ammo Capacity & Improved Battery Capacity on my Dom suit and Magazine Size on my Exec...

Ah yep, i found that the goodies i had on sale before got snapped up quite quickly, especially when i was in a CG system - but no-one sold me any of those rather elusive SDP’s, even though i’m offering top dollar!

One’s got to set up a deal in advance i think… the EDO Materials Helper can help with this too apparently, though so far i’ve been too timid to try it out - still, it’s a highly recommended external helper app to keep track of the plethora of OD mats/goods needed for suits/weapons and upgrades/mods…

Not for the jump range - an A-rated Sidey should get into the 15-20 ly range even without some TLC from Felicity. But she's definitely worth the visit to get the enhanced performance thrusters (and even better if you can slap dirty drag drives on them). You can turn this cheap little tin can into a proverbial hotrod:

Ok, it can sometimes be a bit difficult to land it, as you only need to glance in the direction of the throttle to make it blast of like the proverbial bat out of hell.

I'm using Inara for my upgrade planning...
