Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Each game server was originally submitting changes to one large event queue to update the persistence database. With this, one server with lots of events could impact other shards performance. This was solved by giving each server its own queue so they don't impact their neighbors.
These people have no clue about streaming and queues. They are literally learning the basics as they go.

If you're really interested in the testing chat MOTD's...I could post one every day, they're not that interesting and only serve to keep PTU testers in the loop...the ones who are actually interested in testing rather than playing that is. They either announce new PTU builds before they're released or like this one, let us know it's been delayed for whatever reason.

It's not like they're a deep insight or sneak peek into the development process or anything, testing chat is an open channel on Spectrum...it's also not inhabited by the usual Spectrum troll brigade since it's restricted to discussing only the PTU testing process...besides that, there are fewer actual testers year on year since they opened up wave 1 to the casual $10 subbie trolls rather than keeping it restricted to testers 🤷‍♂️

If you delve deep enough, using community tools, you can just about trace the dynamic delays...

I do like this ShinyTracker site...

The official Round Up only mentions the Room System stuff getting pushed. But it seems this got dumped too:

Mission Manager App
Last scheduled from 2022-05-08 to 2022-08-25

Alongside converting to Building Blocks, this feature includes an updated UI in support of the dynamic mission system. Also includes the ability for players to see the reputational requirements of mission content.

Which made me peek at other 'Quantum' related stuff. And yep, shuffled off into the long grass too...

Dynamic Events

End date has been extended from 2022-12-22 to 2023-03-28
Bounty Hunter V2

End date has been extended from 2022-10-20 to 2023-03-01

Ah well. I'm sure Tony's used to it by now...

Oh Tony...

We're now in early stage testing to allow Quantum to start pushing the first few bits of simulated data out the door and start impacting the game, and we expect to go live with these efforts later this year. The first stones in the virtual AI foundation were laid long ago, but it's only been within the past couple of months as engineering resources rolled off of some other major initiatives that the implementation efforts really started to take off. This technology will allow VNPCs the freedom to operate and evolve independently of player actions and open up all sorts of new gameplay possibilities. Bounty Hunter v2 will be the first feature to exploit virtual AI but it's really just the tip of the iceberg.

Tony, Tony, Tony

That iceberg sure is buried deep...

Also, some more of Dear Tony's projects may have slipped again:

Bounty Hunter V2

  • End date has been extended from 2023-03-01 to 2023-05-22

Quantum Simulation

  • End date has been extended from 2023-03-28 to 2023-06-19

I think in this case they just show that Wave 1 is still in a mighty jumble ¯\(ツ)/¯
