Are there people who will login and just teach me how to play? I'm really struggling with the game. Online videos never seem to show an actual step by step, the beginners guides links are bad, I'm just struggling. I'm even having a hard time figuring out my HOTAS setup as the buttons aren't labeled and the online pics seem to be different from what I have. I'm just not sure where to look. I got myself stranded on a planet the other day and it took me two days (real time) to figure out how to get back to my ship. I'd love some help.

The GA discord (in the header above your post) can give you more immediate help than the forum. Depending on timezone and availability someone could also wing with you for a bit. Some of us have spare accounts that can be cleared for the Starter Zone (not I).

The Galactic Academy mentioned before was originally invented by the Elite Secret Service before it was taken over by Frontier and filled with self made "mentors" who tend to hide behind locked doors instead of playing the game to give a helping hand.

Regarding your HOTAS I found it quite useful to go into the Options Settings screen and just go through the bindings to see what was where, it was also helpful to do some of the tutorial/training available from the cockpit menu when I was changing bindings as the situations where repeatable so I could tell if my change made things better or worse for me.

Remember they are your controls and what works great for someone else might not for you.

When you do get the bindings how you want them make a copy of the file elsewhere and consider renaming the bindings file to something relevant to you and changing the name in the second line to match that way you will get fewer issues with lost bindings.

Always ensure your HOTAS is plugged into the same port before launching the game otherwise it won’t be recognised properly and you will get the wrong bindings selected.

Thanks for the info guys. As far as my joysticks, I'm using HOSAS thrustmaster 16000m. They didnt come with a button layout and I'm just constantly guessing as to what each button does even after I map it. I need to draw out a picture of the controls and label each button and tape it to my desk or something. I'm having a good time in the game when i can do anything.
