Heart of the Maelstrom

Ah ok so this was more my experience. I've seen videos of people lazily being able to look around without getting shot and wondered what that was about.
For me and my friend, we were fired upon on arrival just like this video. Which one would expect. Except for all those videos of people just looking around with free cam and not getting shot.

I don't know if cold running was the case there? I sure as hell didn't survive the second trip. ^^'

I thought that, too but saw one running 46% which is hotter than my cutter and I don't try to run cold. Maybe just randomness and patch day fwibbles. I would expect it to be hostile all the time when going in. If it isn't supposed to be, then I'd like to know the criteria.

When I arrived in the Maelstrom, I had few minutes to gawk and wipe the drool of my chin. The (are we allowed to call them Titans yet?)... the center of the Maelstrom was frikkin' awesome in VR. And very scary. VERY scary. When I got past the pulse (I got two of them) I first noticed the caustic damage to have stopped but nothing much else, and then I slowly turned my ship to look around and HOLY FREAKING CRAP WHAT IS THAT. The scale was just mind blowing.

I then observed a few Interceptors of all kinds going in and coming out, and had one or two Glaives patrolling around, but I stayed far away enough (and maybe cold enough - I idled at 16%) for them to not care. Until I moved closer to get a better look and was totally mesmerized, staring at the center of the thingie, and missed a Glaive sneaking up on me. Then my scanner went red all over the place.

I was in a 600+ (unarmed) Recon Mamba, but the Glaive was really glued to my behind. It did not care about running cold by popping heatsinks, but I managed to run away; I went silent running and seemed to be able to gain distance, but that might have been a coincidence. In the end I got out with 8% hull left.

Not been back since, but it was awesome.

With 14-17 percent heat my Clipper doesn't get bothered much unless I'm not paying attention while looking around. Has anyone tried the Enhanced Xeno Scanner on the 'big guy' to see if there is any interesting info? I thought about it of course after I was in the Malestrom.

Hadn't gotten a target on it to initiate a scan. Second time in I did hang back and was prepared to run silent with heat sinks. A hunter found me, though and I had to dispatch it. Not a terrible bother except the missiles loaded me down with caustic juice and the ramming maneuver it does broke half my window. Didn't have a chance to snoop.

Alright, so today I tried bringing a mining laser and prospector limpets.
Got in, pumped the heat sinks and...
prospector limpets do not attach to the titan.
The weirdest thing is the mining laser said change mode no matter what mode I was in.

My first trip inside was in my cutter that i made to collect the samples from sensors, it runs around 13% and i spent a few minutes looking around before anything took an interest in me.
The ship only has 1x 3C EAX MC which i didn't use.
Next trip i decided to take my cutter AX scav (try for materials if anything was around) which has the 7multi controller, lots of weapons and runs around 38%, soon as i got near the mother ship all hell broke lose.
Maybe a coincidence, will need to try again once im back in the bubble tomorrow.

Cold running could help. Dunno, i have made 3 trips with the same Cutter and they have always, sooner or later, attacked. One time didn't get out fast enough so was greeted with a rebuy but it's worth the view. ^^
