What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Oh my God. How? How did you do that? It's amazing.
Didn't know that Common Wombats live on Tasmania. Might be nice to also do a Tasmania Area when I move my australian Zoo
Thanks!

Yeah it's very possible to make a decent little Tasmania area now, given we have the Tasmanian devil (a Tasmania section would be pretty lame without that lol), common wombat, red-necked wallaby, little penguin and platypus. Could even chuck the emu in there given they occurred in Tasmania in historic times and there have been recent proposals to reintroduce them to the island.

Funfact: there was also a now extinct Mainland Population of the Tasmanian Devil. If I remember correctly, they've also released some into a fenced Area somewhere.
😕 sad that there's only one Species of Emu left. In the Past there were multiple Species. I wonder if the ones from Tasmania were the last one or one of the extinct Species/Subspecies
Edit: was the extinct Tasmanian Emu Subspecies.
At least here it makes Sense to release the normal ones, because the original ones are definitely gone.
Not like what they did with the Cheetahs in India, even though the asian Subspecies still exists, because that was just stupid🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah the Tasmanian ones are usually (but not always) considered to have been a separate subspecies, but unlike the dwarf emus of Kangaroo Island and King Island they were mostly similar in size to the mainland animals. We were robbed of little stubby emus.

Well I mean, you guys did have a war on them, so it’s not too much of a surprise there’s only one species left. 😅

Really nice work everyone, I especially enjoy the pictures of the new animals. :)
Myself I haven't bought the pack yet (first time actually that I didn't buy it the same day) but I'm busy with a new job and still organising things after moving to a new city, so I'll save the money for now and buy the dlc later (maybe when it's on discount).

If I'm confident enough, I may showcase some screenshots later of Moonshine Ranch. Maybe....

I'm also in the process of building a New Zealand zoo. I looked up some New Zealand terms, and here's what I went with:
-Wops Zoo, (aka the Middle of Nowhere Zoo). That's the correct term, right? Am I using it correctly? @NZFanatic @zizzle8383, I'm hoping y'all could correct me and/or gimme a better suggestion.

I'm also planning on making an Australian zoo: True Blue Zoos, with only Australian animals. The entire Australian roster. @Chuditch, @QueenCinna, @YesIndeed, I know y'all could tell me if that's a real Aussie term or if the website was pulling my leg

I am genuinely curious where this picture comes from 😅
It's a very cool image but the circumstances surrounding it are quite sad unfortunately. Emus usually only live in small mobs, this huge congregation is caused by the rabbit-proof fence in Western Australia blocking their seasonal migration.

"True blue" is indeed a true blue Aussie term.

"Wops" by itself doesn't mean much - "-wops" is what we call "out in nowhere". "I had to go out to the -wops to get it," "They moved out into the -wops,".

Edit: Apparently you had it right, the forum censors the word "w.o.p" for some reason. That's bizarre. In what language is that a curse word?

Welcome to Moonshine Ranch, y'all.

Set in northeast Texas, on the outskirts of Longview, TX, this little zoo started off as an illegal hunting ranch, nicknamed Moonshine Ranch by the owners. After being reported to the authorities, the World Zoo Organization (WZO) bought the property and redid it, offering larger, more comfortable enclosures for the animals.

The old enclosures have been expanded and remodeled to ensure our animals are as comfortable as they can be. There were 3 species here that were rescued: European fallow deer, scimitar horned oryx, and addax.

The above image showcases the redone oryx and addax enclosures (oryx left, addax right). They're shelters were redone to allow for more space to rest and protect them from the elements outside.

We also have a group of black wolves, taken from a breeder who sadly couldn't care for them anymore.

Ain't they cute?

Also rescued from the illegal pet trade is a group of ring-tailed lemurs, happily safe and comfortable in their enclosed habitat.

As a gift for our efforts, the neighboring Caldwell Zoo acquired some African crested porcupines for us, so we now have a little enclosure for them.

And for the stars of the zoo, we have our gator pool. Fed by natural, underground springs, the gator pool is a hotspot for guests.

Our star is our resident bull gator, who happens to be leucistic. He is usually seen hiding in the reeds or underwater. Work is underway to build a roofed structure to protect him from the sun.

Thank you for visiting Moonshine Ranch. While we may be a small zoo, we are making it our mission to rescue injured and abused animals, giving them a new home and a new hope...

This…

This is awesome. I love the name and the storytelling you did with it! It really felt like it was somewhere I just went!

Thank you. I love storytelling, and in most games I play, such as Spore, Planet Zoo, even the Sims 1 when I'd play it, I would make my own little interconnected universe and the like.

In general, I just love making my own stories, even if I'm not a writer😅...

And Caldwell Zoo is an actual place, in Tyler, TX, about an hour away from Longview, TX (which is also real)

I only ever did storytelling with one of my zoos I never finished right after the release of the Arid pack. It was called Oasis Sands Zoo or something and it was founded in the fifties by zoologist Pete Viper in Northern Africa. There was also a whole thing with expansions and AZA accredit ion and stuff like that I don’t remember

Upgraded my system from mac to PC and it’s looking good! Now I can open OakWood Zoo and actually map things out once again. Did some touch ups to the Oceania section, now that I have a bit more room to work with I will be adding the Tasmanian Devil and the Quokka to the zoo (and the little/African penguins but we’re already working on that).
