is type 10 defender woth it?

Makes a great umbrella for those hot afternoons of murdering settlers.

T-10 is my everyday driver. Been using one as my default ship ever since it was introduced. I even took it on Distant Worlds 2 expedition.

Default multirole "daily driver" mode loadout.

I have a few other ships with specialty builds, but none of them really feel like "home" the way my T-10 does.

I play in Open; if you're the kind of player that stays in Solo mode you could remove a lot of the armor and shield boosters from that loadout and get a pretty nice jump range for such a big ship. I had about 42 LY jump range when I had it set up for the DW2 expedition (which still was still fully weaponized and shielded, just changed setups slightly with undersized powerplant and D-Rated life support, sensors, and power distributor).

im using anaconda rightnow, faction is empire
is type 10 defender really worth it? or other ship is better?

Nope.
Unfortunately Type 10 Defender is worthy only as a module storage ship.
Sure if you really like the ship you will fly it regardless of its shortcomings, but it's still not worth it

Anaconda has:
  • better weapon convergence and better Power Distributer to support those weapons,
  • better shields (and better PD to support them - but this is no surprise now, right)
  • better jump range
  • almost the same cargo capacity
  • better maneuverability generally speaking
  • extremely good roll rate compared with the Type-10

Anaconda is generally speaking one of the best ships in game - a true multirole, only hampered by its relatively small cargo capacity (but its only marginally lower than T10 if shields are mandatory)

Edit: but dont let my post prevent you from flying the ship.
If you like it, you will fly it regardless of how good or how bad the ship is or what i think about it

(Honestly, i have at least 3 of them on each of my accounts, but as i said, i use them as module storage ships)

The answer to the question always comes down to: What's your intended application?

If you're out to go full murder-hobo on NPCs, it makes a formidable whaling skiff:

I bought an Anaconda once...
Flew it out of the station...
Then back in and sold it and bought a Krait II instead...

I have a similar case, but a bit milder tho, with the Dolphin.
I love everything about that ship, except for the cockpit view - i find those A-pillars very restrictive to my view. So i dont really enjoy flying the Dolphin.
I still have one fully engineered but, it doest see much flying - i'd rather fly an AspX, T-6 or even the iCourier.

Funny how different the same thing can be for two different CMDRs. I love flying the Dolphin and think the view out of the huge canopy is amazing, and the A-pillars don't bother me at all in VR, mainly because they continue into more windows.

The FDL on the other hand... that strut right in your face is so annoying. I owned exactly one FDL in my pilot's carrer, for exactly five minutes. I bought it, sat in it in the hangar for five minutes ranting and raving about the silly seat position and that damn strut, and sold it. Didn't even swap a single part or take it out of the hangar. Don't care how good a ship it is, never going to buy one again. I hate that cockpit so much.

It like the anaconda which are ships I never really got on with but I love flying a type 9 so what do I know ? Ships are very personal try it and see is the best answer .

I kinda love flying the T-9 too, especially since it actually steers instead of drifting like a Cutter.
What kills the T-9 for me are the interdictions - winning some of those interdictions (not all tho) can be such an immense PITA...

I like the Dolphin a lot but only have one.
I don’t like the Anaconda but am impressed with some of its attributes again only have one.
The FdL’s strut doesn’t bother me much and I have two of them.
I also have two T9s one from a CG IIRC and two T10s assuming the one in the Witchhead hasn’t been eaten by Thargoids.

I only have one of most ships too, with a few exceptions, and it depends if you count "own" or "active". I have two Krait IIs in my active roster, and three active Pythons, but the rest of my "active" ships I only own one of each. In the inactive column, I own two T-9, one T-10 and two Cutter that are dedicated storage ships. And then there are a bunch of ship corpses in various states of disarray.

I flew the Anaconda for quite a while... Hated mining with it. That long nose gets in the way...

The T-9 was never a favorite, I always felt defenseless in it.

The T-10 I like for laser mining, not much else. It's a decent enough ship, but like the Anaconda and the T-9, the supercruise manuverability is awful.

I prefer medium ships. The only large I really like is the Corvette, but it's too slow.

IT HAS GOT A SPOILER!!!
And in the unlikely case that you want to throw money at it, the ship kit allows you to put a spoiler on the spoiler. :)

Also, this ship can be built tough as nails. It was my default multi-crew ship before the Krait MK II came around. (And i really mean TOUGH. I had people freak out, when they lost all available fighters and waited for them to be reconstructed. They sat there and heard constant fire incoming on the ships hull. Yet the T10 just kept taking it without breaking up. )

Unfortunately with the Krait MK II available, the T10 really is not an attractive SLF carrier any more. Thus in my eyes there is nothing in game any more where the MK 10 would really be my ship of choice... or even my ship of second, third or even like eigth pick. You only really fly this ship these days, if you really love its look.

I learned to mine with the Annie and it's my preferred mining vessel. I have used the Cutter as well and it's ok, but struggles a bit around close proximity rocks. The larger platforms allow me to stay out a while, have all the tools and still outfit something to defend myself with if I am inside the bubble.
