Missing Exobio map

I've been doing Exobio inside the bubble as I travel for some extra credits, and since it's Christmas eve, I decided to finally get on with delivering Harksing's gifts and made my way to Calhuacan. Turns out that Calhuacan 2 C has four bio signals, so I went ahead and started scanning and flying around.

I found the Tussock, Frutexa, and Bacteria easily enough, but when searching for the Concha, there's simply... none. Three hours of searching, and not a single, solitary, scrap of blue on the DSS on the entire planet. At this point, I've driven myself up the wall trying to find this. Is there something I'm possibly missing, or is this planet just hopelessly bugged.

How low did you go? Some concha plantations are really small. Look out for the sort of terrain that encourages them. You might have to turn to the dark side as they may be revealed by their glow.

Probably not bugged as was said above some bio signals can be incredibly small so hard to see if you are high enough up to see a whole face of the planet but if you get as low as possible it is easy to not cover the whole planet.

Checking the dark side can work better and knowing the terrain could also help, however unless you know or believe it to be a very high value variant it is probably not worth too many hours looking.

Yeah this sort of things or smaller I have seen a few times, you need to cruise around in orbit just above the glide level sometimes to be able to spot them;

I know the search zones can be tiny. It was nigh impossible to find the Concha on Calhuacan 2 D. But at this point I've flown over the entire ball of dirt twice at 60km up and the blue zones simply aren't there. The completionist in me wants to find it, but I don't know if I feel like an idiot wasting so much time on this, or if I feel like an idiot because I just can't spot them, if they're even there at all.

Been a while since I've been on elite, and exobio has felt a little tedious, but pays well. Much like exploration in general. But this pixel hunt hell might be the worst thing FDev has put in the game so far.

That's the dilemma, some planets & plants are harder than others, and some are (seemingly) impossible. At some point you pass it by & move on but how long you take is up to you :)

I've passed by some, and if I'm out in a big ship sometimes I leave stuff like fungi in the rocky mountains even though I'm confident they are there & I just can't land nearby.

If there's no rush keep looking, if it stops being fun move on imo. It pays so much because hardly anyone was doing it when it was introduced.

I think the most frustrating part is that there's no indication of if the Concha's actually there, or if the planet is just bugged. Is there any way to tell? EDDB is dead and Inara doesn't seem to have exobio data.

The indication that it's there is in the DSS heatmap filter. Whether you can actually find it, or if there is enough suitable biome for it to spawn is for you to find out.

No third party tool is going to help you with undiscovered stuff, and with the first discovery bonus being where the big bucks are in salad hunting I'd say skip anything that's already been discovered & find planets that don't have a first foot tag yet.

Did you really want it to be all too easy?

Honestly, I just wanted some indication if it was a complete waste of time or not. I'd be shocked if I get first discovery on anything in the bubble, so if some CMDR out there found that concha before me at least I'd know its possible and not broken planet gen.

It's there, if the filter exists in the DSS then it is indeed there.

Had a look, found a small blue
Site at -8,64.
Terrain was a nightmare, mountain with possible crater. Couldn't actually find any Conha at the location, just Tussock.

Yeah I often find concha tucked into tiny crevices and the deep shadowed corners of cliffs and things like that and I have to use night vision to spot them, in the sort of terrain you are describing I could imagine walking within a few meters of some and not seeing them

Thanks, I appreciate the effort to make me feel like I'm not going crazy. But, did you go to 2C? Because I flew back there and the location at -8,64 was gentle rolling hills. Also no blue marker on the DSS above the site either.

There was Concha on 2 D as well, but I could at least find blue zones for that. Even though they were tiny.

I have absolutely zero idea how you found that. My DSS of the planet was literally either red hills or a solid black circle without a single pixel of blue on it. But it's clearly there, so I need to fly back and finish this crazy exobio adventure.
At least @Felix DiCestria was considerate enough to include the coordinates in the screenie - you should (hopefully) be able to locate them from that.
Good hunting!
