Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

How would people feel if our last 7 habitat animals were simply the top 7 left on the meta-wishlist?

Those being:
1. Secretary Bird
2. South American Coati
3. Walrus
4. Goodfellow's Tree-Kangaroo
5. Black Howler Monkey
6. Musk Ox
7. Hamadryas Baboon
Boring.
Middle ground picks are better.

Wouldnt be the worst thing in the world, but i wouldnt be over the moon either

Easter isn't even that big of holiday sales point since it's on a Sunday AND EVERYONE HAS SUNDAYS OFF ANYWAY!!!
I don't know how it is around the world, but here in Europe it's not at all uncommon for kids to get presents around Easter, it's pretty much part of the festivities. So of course Frontier banks on that, they've been releasing stuff in the week of Easter since 2018 and haven't deviated from it since then, which is 6 years already. So it clearly does something for them, as it's the only timeslot that is so incredibly consistent.

Fittingly enough a PZ Dlc would neatly fall into that easter gift territory

(Aggressively American voice) Well here in AMERICA, we do gifts on Easter too - painted bald eagle eggs and Easter baskets filled with handguns, pocket sized Bibles, and Donald Trump dolls - and if any of you Europeans talking in them there European languages like Canadian and whatnot, don't like it, then y'all can just GIT out.

jk but don't you think the console edition coming out the Tuesday before Easter constitutes as their Easter release?

Yet not a single Egg, Rabbit, Chocolate, or Jesus themed DLC. Really not living up to the holiday spirit.

It is a near universal 4 day weekend in the west, I think that might be the main driver (essentially a guaranteed peak in gaming sales), cash as an Easter gift seems pretty rare everywhere from what I can find, so I don't think it's the major draw, unless its applied more as a teenager gift.

I don’t necessarily think Frontier won’t release the last DLC alongside console, but I still think the final dlc may come later. While they have followed the same Easter release cycle for years, this is the final dlc, this would be the time to break tradition. Especially if Frontier is expecting the console edition for Easter sales.

I will say the only thing I’m wondering is if the final dlc will release on both PC and Console. I can see it happening, I don’t know how long it takes to port games over so I imagine that they will spend awhile longer doing that.

I think it also ties in to what the content of the final dlc will be. If it’s 8 animals and scenery maybe they can fit it in the Easter time slot. If it’s the final dlc and is more than that then I can imagine they need more time.

Makes me wonder if the final dlc will be filling in obvious missing slots in base game, like things people have been asking for forever: aquatics, birds, monkeys, or South American rep. So if they release the final dlc for pc and console I can see it being something exciting to boost sales.

Or it will just most likely continue to be more of the same, and we can expect a number of meta wishlist animals/ only release on pc first.

Personally I would be happy waiting until the summer dlc slot if it has to be the final dlc, would rather the console version gets the attention it needs then the dlc later on. I don't see the point in trying to tie both the console release and a new dlc at the same time.

As long as it is the blackbuck of course.
Ok, I know it’s obscure. But the antelope we need is the Nile lechwe! Its coloration is unique and it lives in a unique habitat compared to other antelope! Look how cool the males are:

I honestly don't know. I genuinely still don't see the big fuss about releasing a DLC and the console support around the same time, if anything it just benefits your DLC as now you can sell it on more platforms.

An Easter release seems to benefit their DLCs. It wouldn't make sense if it didn't, because why would this be the only one of the 4 DLCs they've been doing this way consistently for 6 years. So why would you step away from that just because you're also tapping into a different market and double your risks? Because there might be a few extra marketing posts? IDK, I don't see how it would cause any confusion especially given how much they've communicated about the console release already.

If they want to release the DLC and the console around the same time, they can, and from a business perspective it might even be the smartest move because there's little confusion to be had really.
(Of course that comes with the fact that the DLC would also be available on console on release, but that's kinda a given if they release them around the same time.)

That's pretty strange, because cash as an Easter gift has been a thing in and around the Benelux since I was a kid, that's a whole long while ago, and it's still a very common thing today. People giving their kids video games (or DLCs to a video game) sure isn't uncommon either.

It sure involves the holidays as well, because of course it does, but I wouldn't be surprised that DLCs are just also bought more because it's a time where people give each other gifts.
