This is unironically a good indicator of why we received so many carnivores while primates were neglected: from the 42 carnivores that the game has, 37 are on this list, while from the 13 primates, half are absent.

The first carnivore also appears a lot early than the first primate ( 2# vs 35#) with the top 10 consisting in majority by carnivores (6/10), while primates are struggling in popularity against stuff like aardvarks and sand cat.

Well noone really doubted that carnivorans are in general more popular than primates. Carnivorans are just more diverese and varied, plus the close proximity of humans to cats and dogs probably also plays a role in why so many of their wild cousins are so high up.

But this doesnt really explain why we get so many antelopes, since unless i missed one there are only 2 on the whole list and they are both all the way down

probably because they are very easy to do and are great pack fillers.

There's also the idea that because all the antilopes clash with each other in usage and appearance, people were divided in which pick as their favorite(if they have a favorite antelope), and therefore they appear less than other kind of animals, but this seens unlikely as ungulates as a whole are very unpopular apparently.

Primates when their strongest warriors - great apes - struggle to pass through pangolin.

Lemurs and capuchin made it in. People like smol funny monkee.

Funny how half the ungulates didn't make it in. I'm surprised about the peccary.

Of the Eurasia pack just the wolverine and the swan made it. So that supports my belief that the swan it is the most popular animal in that pack. And it ranks way higher than the wolverine.

I mean the same effects all big cats and large dogs

Honestly only two of the birds making it into the top 50 explains a lot, sometimes I have to take a step back and remember the larger player base of Planet Zoo doesn’t care the way I do. Or even cares the way the forum does on representation.

Also capybara being #1 makes me realize I haven’t used it yet, I really need to though.

Both surprised and not surprised it’s at #1.

not really, lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards and gray wolves are ABC animals that everyone knows and likes that don't collide with each other because they niche and usage is considerably different, while stuff like wild dog, dingo and maned wolf are popular and fairly different from other carnivores, meanwhile almost all our antelopes are social african savanna antelopes.
With all that said, i still have no idea how the snow leopard and arctic wolf are on top 100

I still think representation and diversity is needed and wanted. Just because my favorite animals are monitor lizards doesnt mean i want all 80 species being among the 180ish animals in game, beause thats hella boring. And i assume thats how most people feel

I bet if we got a baboon last year it would be very high in that list...

Anyway off topic but I'm gonna make a weird bold statement, if we get a Global Pack for the finale pack that covers all 6 continents (Antartica excluded) the Chamois will most definitely be included. Its the only European animal that isn't a direct clone like the EBB or another subspecies of wolf or a beaver or otter etc. and seeing how its an ungulate I don't think Frontier can resist the urge to make it.

Alpine marmot or bust

Let's see where people are right now regarding certain groups. Out of these "core zoo animal" groups which is your most wanted habitat species?

Carnivorans - South American Coati
Ungulates - Reeves' Muntjac (I think this and the blackbuck are the last two that are truly essential)
Primates - Any Callitrichid (Tamarin, Marmoset, etc)
Other Mammals - Rock Hyrax
Birds - Too many, I think right now I would say Pelican, Rhea, Stork, or Guineafowl, all my most wanteds are birds at this point.
Reptiles - African Spurred Tortoise
Carnivorans - European Pine Marten
Ungulates - Guanaco (MRocky Mountain Elk Is A Really Close 2nd)
Primates - Coquerel's Sifaka (Zooboomafoo Is Why It's Here)
Other Mammals - Short Beaked Echidna
Birds - Red Legged Seriema (Fun Fact: They Are The Closest Living Relative To The Terror Birds)
Reptiles - Perentie

I'd take it, I'd rather other caprines but the chamois is quite nice looking and I'm curious if it could be mixed with the ibex? Are there any zoos that do that?

EDIT: Looking on ZooChat it seems there is a few zoos that do mix them, more reason to be fine with this addition.

My local one had them with ibex and marmots. Now they are in with the moufflon and marmots

I think an alpine marmot could be a good choice instead of the chamois in that scenario.
