Update 18 | Update Notes

Now people are going to get confused when they get a "gravity well" message in the middle of nowhere with no obvious source (i.e. Pareco)..... unlessss perhaps some portion of this 30GB update is devoted to new stellar objects?

It happens in any system that has asteroid belts while passing neaby one of those clumps which is not actually being signaled - but agree that pareco is kinda special

Anyways, as there were people being confused by the slow down message, there will be some confused by the gravity well concept - FDev cant really win with some people

Wozzers .... another big data update ... no complaining. s!
Depending on what you play, Feb '24 has been a heavy month for updates. (e.g. DCS was a 67Gig update last week)

S!

30 GB is pretty chunky. But I'm no expert so I can only naively guess at what that means.

Perhaps some of graphical stuff needed whole files replacing
I always understood that the "cool thing" would be divided into two updates, 18 and 19. I'm guessing that a big chunk of what will become available in update 19 is already in this update (as someone already commented earlier).

Or it could be that destroying a Thargoid Titan is such a massive thing that it does require that much data.

Then they should have worded it better. I'm not performing mental gymnastics to infer a meaning that isn't clear. "SLOW DOWN" was the message we got, "SLOWDOWN" would have been a bit clearer as you suggested

Why mental gymnastics (not like gymnastics are bad since they're supposed to keep us fit)?
Just an acknowledgement that it cannot actually be a command since you cannot act on it, so it must be a notification.

I never took that message as an indication that i will have to slow down, but a notification that i'm being slowed down
for the experienced cmdrs, the intent of the message is obvious.
i have tutored numerous new players over the years. for every single one of them, i had to correct them when they first encountered that message
i could have put "no, it's not an instruction, it's an observation. yes, i agree, it's misleading." on a soundboard

welcome improvement.
i may be misremembering, but i think the messages had already been changed once a few years ago?

Please, release the complete bug fix notes.

What about the quest assignment bug for wake up a settlement that are already active? f.e.
And the vendor armaments bugs in fleet carrier ?
I believe that these bugs and others are more important to players than others as design paints.

Regards.-

Why would you believe that?
If i pay for the paints - you know, as an extra, optional payment - i would expect them to be as good as possible

So, yea, for me having quality paintjobs (and fixing the ones that are sub-par) can be actually more important than some other bugs - like for example the carrier market bug that requires you to revisit the market to have the goods actually popping in your inventory

Ooh, very juicy list of changes👏 Can't wait to see them in action!

Slim hope that maybe there's an undocumented fix for scope mod on Tormentor? Speaking as someone who dedicated the whole weekend for upgrading one to grade 5 and put a scope on it for, ahem, "competitive shooting"; then went "What in the Seven Hells is going on here, Wellington Beck?" after putting a few rounds down range with it🙃 I'd adjust the elevation of the scope myself—easy-peasy—alas, no tools for messing with our gun sights in Odyssey🤪

They can't fix every bug in 1 update. Still no anti-aliasing fix though.

The paintings are optional and do not interfere with the gameplay.
You not see your paintself.
Commanders pay with credits (from their effort) for bug-ridden fleet transportation services. You take the crime status and fines for not completing the missions of restarting a settlement.
This goes to real gameplay

Regards.-

Also to those complaining about bugs, if you're not checking the Issue Tracker and submitting bugs that you find, you have zero reason to complain on the forums here. There's a place for that. Not everything can be fixed in a single update, and just because it's not on the U18 patch notes doesn't mean Fdev are never going to fix it.

Again: post to the Issue Tracker.
