Well done. Perhaps you should campaign for an offline forum, as you seem to have trouble interacting with people in an online one without being needlessly offensive.Waffle designed to provoke an angry response

I really cannot understand why FD released this information a week before the party. Why couldn't they have delayed it until after the party when we have all had a great time? There is going to be a real atmosphere there now.
Why not delay the decisions and put extra resources on this after the release?
We will review the decision after release
You got all that? Ok you can go back to your whingefest now. Enjoy!!
And that was stated on the kickstarter as something you would get when you part with your money?
What's a Twinkie?
Top trolling. The fact is, that "lacking a feature" in this case = not actually a viable product any more, for a significant minority of the people who paid for it to be made.
What is amusing is all the hate over a kickstarter pledge that they cannot make for technical reasons according to FD.
Today there was a new Kickstarter to launch a UK probe to the moon and they want $1 million for "phase 1", on the news they were very evasive they had guarded speech about how "no money would be taken until they got funding for phase 1".
The contract is full of disclaimers and caveats and yet they have already got 25% of the money after one day and yet they won't be even sending anything up for 10 years!
Frontier have dropped a clanger not letting perople know about the lack of offline mode but to be honest they are looking a whole lot better than these cowboys trying to get money out of the public on the back of Rosetta.
I backed Godus and that has completely turned sour and Star Citizen is certainly looking like it could head south a lot worse than Elite. And rather than and moan I have decided to get on with it and not bother with them for now.
I seriously think a lot of you need to get a grip and get over yourselves with your first world problems and that if the worse thing that happens in your life is that a game lacks a certain feature then you are very lucky indeed.

I hope you're wrong. Within this huge galaxy (400 Billion Systems?) there will be room enough for Weekend Players (like me)
Eve Online
From the Kickstarter site.
Ugh, too slow... anyway, I'll note that at the time a lot of people where stating in the threads that they were interested in a new Elite, but not in a MMO... I would guess that a decent percentage of the most generous backers did this for the old-school experience... after all we're the ones with a lot of disposable income...

I think they revealed it once it was finally clear to them that they can't put out an acceptable quality offline product, and without compromising the main game as well.
As for the "physical drm free" reference, remember thise games that required a disc in the drive. That is what it refers to. The disc in the box was clearly described as a curio, and exactly the same as downloading the game from the site. It is purely something retro to have on a shelf. I sure would have liked to afford it, but money was quite tight.
Utter rubbish. A very VERY few are effected. If you have enough bandwidth to post to this forum you have enough bandwidth to play solo.
Typical internet. Lots of cry babies, lots of man children with entitlement issues and a smattering of socially awkward misfits who've just had their dream of pretending to be the Elite universe's 'big dog' nicked off them by the nasty man who says they have to play with other people who might actually be good at video games.
HTFU
A significant number of people playing this game are in their 40's and the vast majority will be over 20. Most of you have jobs, family, pets, mortgages, insurance, investments etc etc etc
You make it sound like you've never spent £50 on anything in your lives ever - plenty of you spend that every Friday night on beer or shopping or takeaways or cinema and you never think twice about it. You don't think about it because plenty of you get paid more than that for an hours work. And even if you get paid half of that an hour or a quarter of that an hour or even an eight of that an hour, we are talking about a very small amount of money invested into something that might never have launched or seen the light of day in the first place. You gambled a bit of easy money on something and most of you got entertained.
This surely isn't about money, it seems to be about control and the preconception that spending the price of a nice bottle of wine allows you to have some say in the development and future of something that is another man's vision and life work. You're kicking a fella in the balls because he didn't do what he was told to do by a bunch of people who have rigid ideas about how someone else intellectual property should be developed.
If the man tells you that the life of this thing rests on his ability to connect it to the online world then you have to trust his vision. He is refusing to deliver you a dead baby, he wants to give you something live and bawling and full of the prospects of growth and vitality, yet you hit him over the head and ask for the lifeless blue thing that you want to clutch to yourselves to remind you of some youth that has passed.
Let the future be what it can be without handicaps and impediments and let the artists and the writers create without restriction and most importantly give the whole thing a chance. And if you find yourself offline and unable to play, why not read a book? There was something called The Dark Wheel that I read years ago that was pretty good.

Take a good look people. Is this reaction and solution what you identify with?
Is this really how you deal with things, and how you feel adults should behave? DhuAlan wants to make everybody pay, to go full griefer on everybody he sees has somehow personally wronged him.
This some of the ugliest facets of humanity on display. He could decide to sell the game and never look back. He clearly can play online just fine, but because he feels wronged, he will now do his best to be a virtual terrorist in the game and on the forums.
Nice guy. I wonder how many here think this is a noble, heroic stand.
