Can we have a toggle switch, to change between measuring units?

To be fair, that particular quote is from a British tour guide in Israel who did tours of the garden tomb and such. Obviously he was being facetious as are we all.
Ya, I was being facetious too. The old imperial system is all mixed up with weights and measures similar to my description of using religion as a guildline. Gallons, tons, ounces....depending on location and industry. US, British, long? short? freight? etc. Even mixing up mass(weight) with volume. Its just a big mish-mash. Which is understandable because of history. And the old imperial system got cleaned up in the 1800's so its better than it was.

I wonder how difficult this would be to achieve? A simple UI tweak to all displayed values, or something more involved? I've worked on things that natively use the metric system, but can readily display in imperial with ease, but then it was designed that way for the convenience of users world-wide (aka, US and everywhere else pretty much lol). IF this were indeed a fairly simple thing for FDev to do, why not, if I enhances a group of players (US) experience of the game? However, I suspect ED's ancient spaghetti code isn't quite so easy to work with, judging by other "simple" things that either took years to happen, or never happened.

In the UK, we're sort of a hybrid, being brought up on both systems. I.e. ask me how tall I am and I'll say 6'4", ask me measure something that's not me and I'll answer in Metres and Centimetres. Same with weight, I'll say I'm [redacted]Stone, 13lbs, yet other things I'm weighing in kilos. It's similar with distances. Everywhere here is signposted in MILES, not Kilometres. Car's speedo shows both - an EU compliance thing IIRC. However, I'm perfectly comfortable in Kilometers for other things. It's very confusing, but not for us, we're used to it being that way! lol. I don't know if kids in school now are still being taught both like I was.

So, yeah, why not add it if people want it and it's a nice quick win for FDev? Would I enable it? Nope, but I'm not a "you can't have it because I wouldn't use it" sort of person.

Just for the record:

Do you see value in changing the meter/second in miles/second or yards per seconds? You can already imagine the number is miles/second. There is no indication we are indeed using m/s. Are you just referring to the distances visible on the HUD and other places?

Do you want to convert lightseconds to miles per hour? Or Kilometer/meter per second? Megameters to Megamiles (Do we know it is not in megamiles already and Fdev trolled us?!?!) Do you want c changed to 300.000m/s or the miles/sec equivalent?

Cause I see no value in any of this. If the game would be using frogs per minute the numbers still would be just numbers. We do not actively use distance in the game. We use a time measurement for traveling (the famous 6-7 seconds (remaining) on approach)

If you are in a dogfight and you want to maintain range cause of drop-off. You need to be within 1100 something. if this is 800 something cause now you are using miles or 600 zebra's the game is not easier. It is just a waste of development time.

Converting from SI to Imperial is harmful for the environment. Better spend those cpu cycles on something else.

There is only one offical unit of measurement in ED:
