How (and why) to participate in defending Jameson's CG if you haven't done any AX so far

Dead easy.

  • Take any of your combat ships as it is now. No special re-equipping needed.
  • Fly to V886 Centauri, land on rescue ship Cornwallis and sign up to Community Goal.
  • Jump to Shinrartra Dezra, go to Jameson Memorial and upon entering station's space open your 2, Chat, where you Join the fight
  • go out right in front of the station, stay close and just fire on the first Scout you see (the smallest ones, pesky and vulnerable)
  • just make some damage on it with any weapon you have (lasers do the job just fine), make a dent, and stay alive there until the little dies - someone else will finish it very soon. Then on top right of your screen you'll see "80,000 BOND RECEIVED"

This means you made a contribution. Enough to enter Top 100%. For which you will receive 20 million and a set of decent AX weapons. If you whish so, you can immediately jump back to V886 Centauri, land on Cornwallis, go to Contacts and submit the score. Voila.

And that's all you need for 20 millions and a useful set of AX weapons :)

FD is breaking down the walls. Thargoid hunting used to be the exclusive preserve of a few dedicated groups since everybody else avoided it - the Jameson CG (as you said) is changing that. Curiously, PP is in the same boat so PP 2.0 will probably break that exclusivity wall too.

And before today, I would have said there was no way in hell Thargoids & PP activity would mix but now I'm not so sure.
I’m presuming Thargoids will become a “power” in PP 2.0 in some form …

OP, while suggesting this method to the inexperienced in AX combat or combat in general, does not inform the target group about the possibility of meeting with gankers who are known to hang out at this location.

To achieve the goal as described, you need to be in Open if you rely on random commanders finishing off a target you tagged. Knowing human psychology, there is a chance that gankers might target such ships they recognize as not equipped and/or skilled for taking down Thargoids, let alone another player specializing in pvp.

An alternative exists if you have access to a private group with members who will cooperate and approve of your role in this. Lastly, playing in Solo requires you to actually kill something that counts for the CG.

Good points. I think any combat ship capable of tagging a Scout should be able to finish it off in Solo. They're only present in small numbers at the start of a scenario, and ordinary weapons can damage them.

Tip: if there's a Regenerator variant, attack that one

Yes there is a chance, unfortunately.

I've seen two of them - one in each instance - but the other players quickly alarm the instance of the ganker, we all block his name and relog. Problem solved.

I'm a Solo/Group player and felt a bit strange doing this in Open but it is much more productive this way. Oh, and regarding your "gankers might target such ships they recognize as not equipped and/or skilled for taking down Thargoids, let alone another player specializing in pvp." they target all, because they arrive in murderboats equipped for fighting humans, and everyone else in the instance is AX equipped - useless for fighting humans - so the gankers know they have an enormous upper hand against all. Hawhaw, fun!!

"Human psychology" as you said...

First time trying ax combat and playing in open, great fun when you have two or three other players there against a cyclops , really works.

The you get those gankers sit on edge of combat zone and pick you off ( in a low level combat zone , so beginner types ) as you’re leaving due to damage takes all the fun you had co-op’ing with others killing thargoids away. Yeah had to google how to find who killed me and block being over so fast.

AXI has a private group and a strict no-ganking rule:

Sure there is a way of dealing with everything. Beginners may or may not know all this before they entered the zone. But you do and didn't tell before being called out ;) Just saying.

I entered the zone , still not sure of all the coms panels etc. just getting hang of everything else , just found out how to see th4 who killed you in contacts panel. Playing in just mobius I only ever saw one other player. Was too busy getting the hang of staying alive and not getting that green gunk on ship, I run out of those caustic sinks quick at times.

Had I known how to tell others or see a warning about the ganker I would of.

Thanks tifu I will try that other ax private group.

No one would read an extensive three-screens long manual for staying at Jameson and participate fully.
I gave the core instructions how to quickly make the initial contribution to Jameson CG and collect the rewards when it's finished. For "how to secure it with 10 minutes tops there".

My original post still stands for that.

Now the discussion here veered into a longer engagement, which was never my intention with OP.

Actually I did see your op , went there and did that but I there was a thesrhold I think as my first few bonds cashed in said haven’t contributed enough or level not reached , can’t remember now. Yes made sure was at the correct ship to hand em in , corn whatever ship

I made it exactly as described on two alt accounts.
A simple participation in a single Scout killing, "80.000 combat bond", run back to Cornwallis, handed them, and got into Top 100%. On Saturday.
Can't test again, no accounts.

Anyone else?
Guys, have they changed the starting score?

EDIT
Here's the picture of one of the accounts. A single Scout.

It's not three screens long, just one short sentence but a crucial one for the kind of beginners that were addressed. Apologies for stepping on your toes but that there would be feedback is inevitable.

Edit: I see you edited your OP now. Geez, everybody expects it to be dangerous, there are frigging Thargoids. Yet you still don't want to say out loud that there are also other players who have different things in mind and will be happy to get fresh, unwitting meat before their cannons. Very funny mate :)
