DLC18 discussion and predictions

Theoretically it’d just be a Zookeeper’s Collection pack under a different name, aside from a few new scenery pieces maybe. Grab-bag pack of highly requested animals from around the world.
Yeah I can see that, and they're pretty popular on the wishlist and I guess they have enough in common to get lumped together on the key art

Is a markhor really that popular, though? I've only ever seen people here ask for it.
Then again, here it was said that the African leopard was terrible but I'm seeing loads of comments elsewhere stating that they can't wait to use it
Don't forget your complimentary baboon goodie bag before you go!
Filled with feces and drool. Yummy

I don’t get why they would lump animals that have a lot in common in the key art though, when including animals from very different climates and very different parts of the world is part of the whole appeal of a grab-bag pack.

I mean, I’m pretty happy with the markhor, but that’s mostly because my goal is to have as many Zoo Tycoon animals in the game as possible lol. I don’t think many people are consistently asking for it- I’d call it “popularish.”

Ok, so imma change the subject because we won't go nowhere talking about the dictionary or the keyart. It's all speculation and we've been wrong before 😂

I was at the zoo today and the sea lions were sitting at the bottom of their pool. Just sitting there, literally doing nothing. But one was blowing bubbles out of its nose.
So, I'd love for more idle animations in the water. Have sea lions blow bubbles. Have elephants spray water. Have otters swim upside down on the surface of the water (I haven't seen them so so)

Whats weird to me is why choose the Pallas Cat to headline an anniversary pack? Like everything else makes sense about this idea but why the Pallas Cat? Yes it should be included in the pack but was there not a better candidate to represent the pack than another cat? Like it just seems like a super weird pick to show the "celebration" of the game ending pack. The lynx already exists as the headliner of the Europe pack, would this not cause some confusion too? Anyway I'm fully onboard with a finale anniversary pack but the Pallas cat headlining it just seems super weird to me.
I've thought a lot about this today. What would the "ideal" anniversary/celebration pack key art look like? I honestly can't pick a specific species but I could see it resembling the base game artwork. Same concept with a different image: A zookeeper with a creature on its shoulder (new monkey), another at its feet (tree kangaroo), with a clearly visible walrus, secretary bird, and something else in the zoo that's being overlooked... And banners/balloons clearly visible but still subtle.

A zookeeper collection pack would have a similar vibe.

But something tells me we're close to the theme but it's going to have a very different name. This community has had a pattern of that over the years... Desert! Nope, it's Arid. Islands! Nope, it's Tropical. Mountains/Highlands! Nope, it's Eurasia.

I definitely wouldn't choose the keyart to have only animals that are associated with highlands (two from the same region), the Pallas cat as the headlinder animal, celebrations scenery kept vague and a cold blue colour palette.
This angle is giving me pause. Because it is a little odd to include 2/3 species from Asia and one that's primarily African. But there's a hole in virtually every possible theme people are speculating on... And frankly, the logic holds true even if it's Highlands. Why not choose an animal from another part of the world?

Wait, what the heck would a celebration themed pack even be thematically any way? Like each animal being based on different packs or events?
Honestly, that would just be an excuse to include animals from all over the world without the constraints of a specific theme.

With World Animal Day coming up (and it being used in marketing before with the NA pack) and the lanterns, the flags and the tent in the back; I'm starting to lean to a kind of animal celebration/anniversary pack.

I fully believe that the fact that they're celebrating the anniversary early is because the anniversary is on the 5th of November and PlanCo2 is coming out on the 6th; but the phrasing here in the video does kinda feel like they're hinting at the fact that the anniversary celebration coming early also has something to do with the pack.
There is absolutely no way they will openly say that they arent going to celebrate the anniversary because planet coaster 2 is releasing the next day so they made an excuse of the pack being in the way i am pretty ceraitn it means nothing.

What really doesn't convince me about the "anniversary pack" theory is the animals shown in the actual picture.
It clearly shows three animals from a similar biome (highlands/mountains); if it truly was a pack with random animals, perhaps the selection of species shown wouldn't be as cohesive.

Plus, this is kind of far-fetched but...
The background colour is a lighter sky blue.
In my opinion, an anniversary pack made to celebrate Planet Zoo and its 5 years of development would have a greenish teal colour... Like Planet Zoo
The fact they went with depression blue fog really points against this pack being a celebration of anything

Also can we all just agree whatever the theme the key art is it absolutely sucks at conveying it and that we are insane 70 pages in less than 2 days we are going to make this the longest thread by the dlc

I could also see the pack being called the Highlands/Alpine/Mountain(s) Animal Pack but being a Zookeeper’s Collection Animal Pack in disguise. What would make it even better would be having all 7 habitat animals being from the top 20 on the meta wishlist. My updated prediction is below.

Highlands Animal Pack
Hamadryas Baboon
Markhor
Pallas’ Cat
Spectacled Bear
Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo
Secretary Bird
Musk Ox
Exhibit: Lake Titicaca Frog

With highlands it makes sense, Central Asia is home to many of the most iconic mountain animals (and the most well known mountain range) and therefore would probably be the best represented region in the pack.

EDIT: Just searched up the definition of central Asia and I think I’m using it wrong lol. But you get the region I mean, the general Himalayan region

A lot of people here saying that if this is a Highlands/Mountains DLC that it means it isn't the last one, overlooking the fact that this could be both. Frontier absolutely could end DLC support with a Highlands Animal Pack.
We don't have a clue what the final DLC will be, when it will be, what theme, or even if it's a larger size. Frontier has always been pretty mum about that sort of information.

I think this is one of those times that Frontier should be upfront about whether or not a DLC is last. If this is the last but people hype themselves up to believing there'll be more, there's gonna be a sour taste for many and it could potentially hurt the company.
If Frontier said "hey guys, this is gonna be the last pack," the disappointment may not be as big a deal than staying silent

I agree, like why do that, even PC had more obvious final dlc with the Ghostbusters Pack.

People assume Frontier wouldn't do us dirty like that by ending with such a boring DLC theme. Also people are assuming there's no way the game is over without a secretary bird since the word "secretary" was added to the Planco dictionary, and there's no way to add a secretary bird to a highlands pack, so that means there must be at least one last DLC with a secretary bird in it. Also the secretary bird is the most requested animal according to the meta wishlist, so people are assuming that Frontier wouldn't just end the game without giving the community its most requested animal. All of these are simply assumptions, so it could be true or it could be untrue.
