DLC18 discussion and predictions

Both got a "dedicated" roster section in the bsase game so they probably felt they were okay. I hope they get something in the sequel. Also both got "drops" throughout other packs. If you could make a dedicated pack, one for east-asia and one for India, what would you put in it?
Just from the top of my head.
India:
-grey langur-
-blackbuck
-honey badger
-bar headed goose
-axis deer
-rhesus macaque
-indian giant squirrel

East asia:
-mandarin
-golden pheasant
-japanese serow
-giant salamander
-yellow throated marten
-chinese muntjac
-pere davids deer

You crazy, man? The golden pheasant is definitely needed. The monal is also needed. And the tanuki would be perfect for Japan
Yes. At this point in the game’s lifespan with one pack (most likely) we shouldn’t prioritize an area with the most animals in the game. SA should be the main priority then others next (NA, ASIA, AFRICA) we don’t even have a new world bird in 5 years of development! I would love to have all of these animals but with one pack we should prioritize animals that are wanted since the beginning. (Secretary, Leopard, Baboon, Walrus (As much as I hate it) and SA animals.)

One man's "need" is another man's "waste of time". What animals do you consider "needed"?
Again, all of those animals are needed for the region with less than 3 packs left we should prioritize animals that haven’t been wanted up until recently. We just got an Asian centered pack recently and I consider the black bear needed but I think we should all prioritize animals that add a unique factor to the game.

India was easier before we got the sloth bear, as it was the ideal seventh habitat animal, but:
  • Blackbuck.
  • Lion-tailed macaque.
  • Chital or barasingha.
  • Nilgai or gaur.
  • Demoiselle crane.
  • Fishing cat.
  • Four-horned antelope.
  • Leopard gecko.
I find "East Asia" harder, really, as the only animals I really want are from Japan, or Japan-adjacent, and it's difficult to make an animal pack:
  • Japanese serow.
  • Raccoon dog.
  • Père David's deer or sika.
  • Japanese green pheasant.
  • Japanese fire-bellied newt or Japanese giant salamander.

India:
1. Grey Langur
2. Sarus Crane
3. Himalayan Monal
4. Blackbuck
5. Honey Badger
6. Nilgai
7. Bar Headed Goose
8. King Cobra

East Asia:
1. Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
2. Golden Pheasant
3. Mandarin Duck
4. Pere David's Deer
5. Reeves Muntjac
6. Yellow Throated Marten
7. Chinese Alligator
8. Chinese Giant Salamander

The black bear is not needed. It's just another boring North Amercan animal.

And what animals add a unique factor?

Japan only has two fully native species. I'd say it could do with one or two more, especially considering how unique and interesting island wildlife is. And mainland Asia needs a true, non-gibbon monkey and at least one of its beautiful birds.
Isn’t that what Japan’s roster is? A monkey and a bird? But yes if this game had a longer lifespan I would agree we need many more Japanese species like the sika deer, raccoon dog, and mandarin duck(it has range in Japan).

South Asia has honestly gotten kind of hard, I guess blackbuck, nilgai, grey laungur... fishing cat? gaur? chital? honey badger?? Us getting the sloth bear and some others over the year means the blackbuck feels like the last big omission here.

East Asia I think would have a lot more support, something like this would be popular and make sense:
  1. Raccoon Dog (Canine fans finally get something again, also throws a bone to Japan)
  2. Reeves' Muntjac (Finally a small deer that can be mixed with lots of other animals)
  3. Pere David's Deer (a more "typical" deer for Asia that is also Extinct in the Wild and is semi aquatic)
  4. Japanese Serow (another ungulate sure but a true Japan endemic)
  5. Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey (Controversial as always but with how important it is for Chinese zoos it would be a kind of wild omission here)
  6. Mandarin Duck (The most popular duck that everyone seems to be craving for)
  7. Golden Pheasant (Two birds? Yes but in this scenario it works I think since the pheasant wouldn't be too difficult)
  8. Chinese Giant Salamander (fun big exhibit animal, I know some want it as habitat but honestly I really don't think it would work)

That's not true. Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia SC has three, a male and two females.
I said New England and the NorthEastern United States, of which South Carolina wouldn’t be in either description. I’m pretty sure SC is in the South.

So as I said, despite being common you kind of can’t see many White Rhinos from where I’m from.

The best part is its even nice and ballanced, much better job at being an appealing animal pack in general then any of them since grassland lol
