Does the SDK update improve performance and reduce stuttering ?

Not sure if it's just my eyes are particularly good today, but everything seems to look sharper and more vivid. I can even read the text a lot easier.

I can not seem to get mine to work. In direct mode it is not being seen nor in extended mode. Also the 3D option for Oculus Rift seems to have gone away - although this could be because of the not recognized issue.

Any ideas?

My system isn't as good as yours and it was running very smoothly, very impressed so far :)

If it's not recognizing it try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers/SDK. Try another USB slot too.

Got it sorted. Although they are using the updated SDK, it doesn't work in direct mode still. Extended mode is working.

Hum..... Looks good with the rift though!

4ghz I7 processor and 2xGTX 970's. I was getting buttery smooth frame rates everywhere I went just hours ago, now after the update, my frame rates are trash. Horrible judder, super cruise unplayable with frequent freezes for a few seconds.

In reference to the comment about it looking sharper, I thought the same thing too after just a moment. It's a lot crisper! I also boosted the brightness on my rift 5%, that really helped, IMO.

I'm getting the opposite—bootcamped iMac i7 w/GTX 780M, and performance has greatly increased for me. I can now keep the Rift performance slider all the way to the right and judder is very minimal when docked and totally absent when flying around. I'm very happy!

extended mode is really smooth for me as well.

I think it direct mode the eyes are out of sync.

When it's in the loading screen I get the orange ship in the left eye long before it shows up in the right eye.

Mine initially wouldn't allow me to select Oculus in the 3d experiemental field in extended mode, only allowed SBS & something else but no Oculus selections. I had to go to direct mode to select Oculus (headphone), exit the game, change back to extended screen, start the game and change it to secondary to get it right.

Direct mode is still 60hz so no low persistence. Extended mode is looking great, probably as smooth as ever. only issue I saw was a couple of white flashes when I got near a couple of space stations.

Seems very good in extended for me. Excuse my noobness, why do some play in Direct? What advantage 'should' it have over extended?

Cheers

Aside from being a better more intuitive user experience (easier to launch games without dealing with multiple desktops) I believe ultimately direct mode is going to allow better performance, because they can more directly access the hardware and do more fancy image warping trickery to eliminate latency

yea I was getting that one eye thing too

for me I think its running better and a lot more realistic.
they also changed the cockpit sitting position to be higher and I think it improves immersion

I got hours at work before I can go home and try it <sigh>.
Does the system map still plant your head in the middle of the star?
