VR for ARX

To be frank, it is not even only VR specific matters that gave me a weird sense of disconnectedness from the powers that be, when we were solicited here on the forum to vote on Elite Dangerous for a "labour of love" award...

If VR stopped working I'd probably stop playing.

I am mostly content flying in VR but tends to discourage me from going on foot in Odyssey (though every station being mostly the same is at least as much to blame, as well as the disjointed experience). I'm I'm paying I would expect transitions to and from foot (as well as SRV) to be more seamless (even if just an animated getting in and out of the seat), but also walking down the ramp or through the airlock (need a movable boarding bridge from some of the high ones like the ASP explorer) and/or climbing down the ladder on a Sidewinder, etc. There should also be an option to "teleport" kinda like we have now which would skip the animation and/or walking through the rest of the ship.

If however they were to add an option to reduce the HUD size on the floating screen to be more central with our view, then move the screen forward, give it a curve ... more of a 180 view, I could be perhaps persuaded for that. :(
Then pay for Virtual Desktop and upgrade your VR streaming Has exactly that a 180deg curved screen 90deg vertical when max sized/curved called Black Void that screen is so large headlook is useful despite being not actually VR - and it can be in SBS 3D since ED/VD both have it. The downside is the game badly scales the HUD with such a larger FOV - it gets jaggy/fuzzy but still useable. This is for Quest and other wifi headsets, for legacy headsets they sell a PC only version but I dunno if it has that same screen (and the legacy is only for desktop gaming in VR not for PCVR games)

Already got Virtual Desktop. Use it with many games but not Elite Dangerous* :) Not being able to see the HUD properly in my central view wouldn't be great.
I don't actually mind the floating screen all that much. I wouldn't mind more options obviously, and full 360 would be great, but I can live with the floating screen. I'd much prefer they fixed the VR bugs. I know I'm in the minority, and I should be in the minority, but I can live with the floating screen. In fairness, I don't do a lot of on foot which is why it doesn't bother me as much as others.

*I much prefer the definition of Link compared to VD for ED. I don't really notice it in other games, but VD tends to soften the image too much for my liking, despite the terrible anti-aliasing being at it's absolute worst in that floating screen.

The hud is not blown up to 180/90 FOV - that is the problem is it scales it down to screen center like you want but the HUD scaling is just bad.

VD has added upsampling and sharpening - you probably used it before these features while MetaLink is defaulted to sharpening. But I use neither of those features that makes jaggies worse - garbage in - garbage out.

It would be trivial to make the cinema screen a black border curve it and size it up though so VD is not needed. But seems they have no intent of fixing it. I prefer they not blackmail customers paying ARX for features, leave that to cosmetics and early access.

The reality is VR Quest is more successful than consoles, it is why all the consoles are rushing to do PC ports as the hardware is not selling enough software. So not sure why PCVR is not getting supported - there are more Quest users on Steam than RTX4090 users yet devs fall all over themselves to do the latest RTX upscaling features Nvidia pimps them out to sell more cards.
