Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Claim Pause

Generally this situation sort of reminds me of the console debacle, where days/weeks would pass and all you where told was when there is news we will tell you. That went on for month after month then as people will know it was cancelled altogether, this was the reason why I left the game. It wasn't the fact that Frontier hadn't told us it was because it appeared to be disingenuous to myself to keep people on hold with little/no info bar the occasional ambiguous sentence with not much substance. To be fair though they do appear to have done a decent job with Trailblazers and I was enjoying looking for a system, have actually found two. Hopefully will be back up soon so I can claim at least one until then will hold fire until more news comes forth o7 all

I regret to bother the society, just want to inquire into really reasons FDev stopped beta. Can't maintain servers due to overload? Some errors in the code could let cheaters evolve their deals?

One word, exploitation, some folks just have to ruin it.
Soon as they have sorted out how to stop it and hopefully ban those involved the game will restart.

We were all blocked from colonization at the same time. And we all were given the chance to start at the same time when Trailblazer dropped. If people chose to wait to see if it was worth playing, that is their choice.

And you never really answered the question. Who are the "fortunate few" you were talking about? I'm not interested in hearing other people's explanation of what you said. I'd like to hear it myself from you directly.
I didn't answer because I thought it was blindly obvious and was already answered. the fortunate few who were able to log in at the correct time before it was paused but because they registered a claim they can still crack on with it.

and no I didn't wait "to see if it was worth doing"

as it stands at the moment some people have access to features that other people do not, hence they are the fortunate ones.

it isn't rocket science!

just keep in mind before you call me impatient (and whilst you are potentially working on your claim)... parts of powerplay 2 were turned off months ago and are still not back on yet.

Some of us, rather than claim our own systems initially, were hauling for friends so that they could build up their systems. Getting the feel of hauling stuff to build stuff. I even got to deliver the last mats to complete a ground asset.

I have been using this down time to look around at a few systems so that I have a short list of places I would like to claim and make my homestead.

I too have done that however depending on when the claims come back they may well be all gone so am reticent to get too excited about unclaimed systems until I can actually claim them.

I have found 3 nice systems tho one of which would be a gamble. it has 3 stars one of which is iirc 250,000 ls away with a bunch of planets. there is a 1 in 3 chance I could end up having a coriolis around it so I don't fancy that one.

this is another reason why they should have had a beta.
in proper betas you welcome and even reward people exploiting so you can close them before release.
yes we are gamers not play testers but plenty will happily test for ship kits, paints , arx or decals
but exploiting In production (multiplayer) games is rubbish and imo FD are too forgiving
But then, how many of the trusted ED partners who are given access to beta testing servers are actual hackers who have the knowledge and willingness to hack and exploit the game?

iirc back in beta (10 years ago) some people managed to hack and exploit the game and they were (quite rightly) thanked for it as it allowed FD to close the exploits in beta.
however obviously that is very different to the live game.
I am sure they do it with the best of intentions but historically FD have been far too forgiving of exploiters and cheaters in the live game. a certain purple haired wizard and his mates spring to mind.

You can see ahead of time where the statuíon's primary/first port will end up in the system map architect view - it will be marked with a flag rather than the "+" icon.

Though if it's only one of the three stars with planets then it's almost a guarantee the 250k one will end up having the primary station.

ooooo thanks for that thank you.

At the pace Frontier claims we are colonizing it would only take about 1.095.890,410958904 years to finish off this galaxy, why not move on to the next?
That unnecessary amount of precision reminds me of the joke:

A museum tour guide is presenting a dinosaur skeleton to visitors and says that it's "65 million years and 3 weeks old."
The visitors are puzzled about how he can possibly know that.
Guide says: "Well, when I got hired the curator told me that it's 65 million years old, and that was three weeks ago."

What numbers are you using?
400bn systems divided by 8000 per week is 50 million weeks. Divide that by 52 and you end up with less than a million. Permit locked systems prolly will mean you finish a month earlier or something.
