Newcomer / Intro [Fleet Carrier] - Do they end their jumps randomly in the system ?

Hi CMDRs,
I was believing that, no, they do not so actually there is something I'm not sure to understand.
During my last jump, I selected a system, then one of it's specific body as the target.

Unfortunately, my FC jumped at the main star, not this specific body.

At that time, my explorer (mandalay) was orbiting that specific body, but there was no any other FCs nor Stations in that whole system.
(it was an unexplored one in the void)

Is the presence of my explorer there the reason why the FC did not to end its jump at the good body ?

(Planning mining that body with my FC embedded miner, it obliged me running several times 340.000 LS between the FC and the body... it was a bad joke !)

No explanation for that one unless you only think you selected the body but didn't actually or it was a bug.

Were you able to subsequently make a successful carrier jump to the body in question?

@nemolomen : Well... About the "perhaps you think" thing I had a check. Obviously I could be wrong, but after verifying, I think this is hardly possible as I bookmark major tritium resources on my path through my explorer as it scans them while on the path. I also checked the bookmark : Is it well pointing at the good body target.
Is it a bug ? or my mandy in vinciinity ? I don't know, but there is something I definitely do not understand.
I am currently about 330 LY of my FC, and found some good hot spots for tritium refill.
Then I will launch another jump, with deep blue (mandy explorer) somewhat out of bookmark orbit, then will see.

About trying to jump from the main star to the body target, I first thought about it. Issue was : "No time slot available". Knowing that may occur for days, I used my SCO Python miner to grab Tritium I was needing. Not efficient regarding fuel consumption, but was just targeting 100 T, so 1 trip was enough.

I will plan next jump soon on another bookmarked body, time to get a time slot, and then I will see.

Just a thought, did you select your bookmarked system from the galaxy map and jump or did you open the system map and select the planet with the ring and set the jump to that planet?

If you just select the bookmarked system, even though the bookmark is for a planet it will put you in the system at the main star.

Thanks @K_Olley.
This is exactly what happened...
Next jump will be done by using the system bookmark, then manually selecting the body from sytem map.
It should better work I guess... well, anyway will try and see.

I have had that same issue.

It is probably an easy trap to fall into if you are used to jumping with or sending your carrier ahead of you while out in the black, I for the most part stay ahead and call my carrier to me so am used to calling it to a specific planet.

When I am carrier jumping to a specific target, I do use the Spansh fleet carrier router, but I always "get out" and have a (hopefully) quick scan of the system before proceeding on to the next jump, There are a lot of systems used by this router that have only had their main star discovered and I have found a number that have had large amounts of Bio (up to 70) and either caused a pause or a return visit:)

I use that via EDDiscovery even when I don’t have a specific target, usually I am chasing the carrier so I scan the system it has arrived in when I catch up then dock to sell up my finds and do any maintenance, plot the next destination for the carrier and start the countdown, undock and plot a route to the same destination in my ship.

Thanks @all for your answers.
Did my first weekly jump yesterday evening and as said it worked like a charm.
I bookmarked the target system, then from carrier map, zoomed to that bookmark system bodies map, manually selected the body, then jumped.
Had directly a 20 minutes waiting time slot then FC arrived directly at the good body while doing exobiology in the vicinity.

On my side, I plan long paths through spansh fleet carrier tool first.
Then, from waypoint to waypoint I use my explorer (57 LY jumps max) as a ranger, exploring the first 200 LY, exploring and searching exobiological interesting stuff.
(One max jump - explore vicinity for some sessions - depends if interesting stuff around (K.G.B F.O.A.M systems mostly)
When between 200 and 300 LY, or when having between 500 or 800 Millions Cr of datas, I look more specifically for ice ringed bodies, preferably in systems with other good mining resources.
Due to exploration/exobiolgy search it may require more than one week to cover such distance.
Then I call back my fleet carrier to a body with good Tritium spots. (ie. yesterday's jump was 257 LY I guess - having 580 M Cr of data to secure).
Once there, I safely resell my datas, do repairs, swap to my miner, rearm it (limpets/missiles/etc...) then go for Tritium and other interesting resources for i.e. 1 or 2 sessions.
Being very close of the target rings helps a lot in terms of efficiency, my miner having (only) a 128T storage capacity.
Then, I swap again to my explorer, look more in details for exobiology and exploration in the vicinity for i.e. 2 or 3 sessions.
Finally, I switch back to the ranger way, moving to next FC planned path point, as initially presented, leaving my fleet carrier behind, ready to be called back later on.

I guess there are other ways exploring with a fllet carrier support, but that one works quite fine for me.
