Newcomer / Intro What happened? (FSD)

in all my 6 months in this game this never happened to me before!

A while back I was accelerating through a large system in my trusty old DBX.
I wanted to check the system map (panel 1) and instead of hitting the "1" button, I hit "tab"
And there I was tearing across space like a bat outta hell and my fuel was being consumed at an alarming rate...
... I could not stop or disengage the drive. Eventually I did stop when I ran out of fuel in the middle of nowhere (or just off-centre)

What happened? Is this the FSD (sco) boost and if I hit it again - how do I control it?

Is 'Tab" a keybind for Engine Boost ?

If so - it is the same for SCO in Super Cruise. Hit it again to stop boosting.

That is a SCO FSD.

You trigger it by using the control assigned to Boost when in normal space, it is a toggle control so to stop it use the same control again.

The throttle will have some slight influence on fuel usage and heat buildup.

Which ship you are in determines how bumpy the ride is.

Generally speaking it is not something you switch on for the whole trip, just use it in bursts.

It is great fun.

Unless you get one the new SCO-optimized ships, like the Cobra Mk.V or the Type-8. Those can handle fuel consumption, heat buildup and steering quite well.
