He was so insistant on that, he even pushed Michael to state that the game would be playable as an offline single player game so that Styggron could still play. He also stated, in no uncertain terms, he would never play online multiplayer.

Mods, I don't know why you are letting a thread like this run in the open? Nothing good ever comes from these kinds of things and if the parties involved can't solve their issues in private, then there's absolutely no way they are going to sort them out here in a heated environment like this.

No to late for that.....Michael did the right thing keeping it open.....To close or lock it may look like there was good validity to it all....That would have been the worst thing to do..

Personally i just think Alien may be over reacting a little to being ignored etc

Alien did make some other points it wasnt all about mods...
I however like many have no complaints about mods etc so for me its ....Just a rant...

One nice thing about the FD forums is that the mods have always been careful not to censor criticism of themselves, and legitimate complaints are listened to.

This is how things get out of proportion.....Its a thread you agree or not agree with the post and answer accordingly.....

No one has mentioned an "Insult Alien Thread" until you just did...So far its just people giving opinions whether they agree with the statements or not
which i assume is the way Alien wanted it.

I do agree there is baggage though better left out

On the DDF, I absolutely take Alien's point that just because you flash £300 at FD it doesn't make your opinion any more valid - but... there are a couple of things to remember here.

1) Even with ~600 potential members, the DDF topic threads get VERY big. If everyone was allowed in, the threads would be completely unmanageable. The designers need to spend the majority of their time designing Elite, not reading threads on the forum.

2) The DDF is simply a small sample of the player base, and a small thank-you from FD to those who were able to contribute a bit more to get Elite made. It doesn't mean they're bigger fans, or their opinion is more important. One or two people in the DDF have even stated that they don't even plan to play the game! That's fine, because they can be a) convinced otherwise and b) their contribution still helps the game to be made.

I've not seen any DDF member lord it over anyone else, or act in any kind of elite-ish way. The community that I've discovered here is respectful, considerate, and open to all ideas (no matter how wacky lol). I can't say the same about other forums I'm a member of... maybe a thicker skin has developed over the years, I dunno. But I do know that here is positively cosy by comparison.

This is true.....But there must be a structure or it would be Chaos as you say.
But if you pledged enough for the privilidge to have your say then thats the way it goes....We all had the same chance...It was not a chosen few.

Much has been written here about the issues brought up, both positive and negative, and the longer Alien doesn't reply then the more it seems like "trolling" - setting a match to the forum then sitting back and watching the flames lick up around everyone's ankles.

I'd be interested to know her feelings on the matter. We've offered several approaches to how to move her issues forward and resolve them, but none have yet been commented on by the lady in question. Does Alien want to attempt to resolve the issues or is this topic exactly what some are saying it is - lashing out for the sake of it?

I sort of understand where Aliens outburst comes from, she has been part of this forums since 2008 and has been put out by having another 25000 members join up with their own personality’s , probably feeling a little left out by those who have brought themselves access to higher positions, those of us here who joined on the back of the kickstarter have accepted that this is the case and is just how things are done, but Alien has been here a lot longer and has seen 2 members join up at a later dates and been given a moderator positions. So I can see why there is some hostility.
What dealings I have had with Alien have showed me that she wears her heart on her sleeve, and can be quick to react to things she isn’t happy with.
Unfortunately this trait doesn’t work in a forum and can as shown here turn people against the original poster, though she brings up points for discussion, she has gone about it in the wrong way in my personal opinion. Even though the original post has upset some members my own views on Alien haven’t changed.
On a side note the Moderators have done the correct thing by not posting anything on this thread and by keeping out of it has stopped this turning nasty,

LOL ....That was kind of going to be my next post.....I agree it does appear that the thread was set in motion and then left us to it......Perhaps this was her last post so she thought what the hell.....Go with a bang

Totally agree. This needs to move forwards in a constructive manner, or in all honesty, why bother? None of us are bashing Alien, but when her comments were so strongly worded, people are going to react. Due to the volatile nature of how this discussion began in the first place, it's probably best to just leave well alone and let Alien and all involved calm down enough to sort things out objectively.

Actually if her initial post had been written like this she may have had a valid gripe....But she unfortunatly worded it totally the wrong way

No-one has bought a "higher position" from what I can see - what has been bought is the ability to contribute to a different area of the community and development. It was mentioned at some point in the Kickstarter that the forum wasn't the best place to host the private areas, but that there wasn't a better alternative.

I certainly don't see myself in a "higher" position than ANYONE on this forum. Most responsible or sensible people would see seniority as being a product of the length of time since original registration and the value of their contributions to the forum.

I have the utmost respect for the "older" members here, and would (and have) happily take correction if I step over an accepted rule or expectation of this forum in terms of behaviour or appropriateness.

Many of us are in the over 20 demographic and thus I would expect a more balanced and sensible approach to being a member of a forum than, say, a 20-something forum about drinking habits in Ibiza. We're all intelligent people (apart from possibly psykokow, who has Issues ) and should be more than capable of dealing with controversy in an adult manner.

If others see their membership of a "private" forum as a position of seniority, then they should be tarred, feathered and left out for the Thargoids to feast on.

Anything that provides more activity, recognition and acceptance for a forum should be seen as a good thing (as long as it hasn't attracted a bunch of trolls) that can only be a positive thing for an online community.

agreed, it has a "this is my last post and im burning my bridges while im at it" Post about it.

Ive seen them before but also this isnt the fist time Alien has made such a post, though in the past she has mentioned moderators but not who, this post is a little different in the fact she has named them.
