What do you want to do in Planet Zoo

Regarding the background, I actually think that building the background is a unique kind of fun, but due to the optimization of PZ garbage, once there are too many details, the computer will become very slow, so I usually choose the simplest construction.

Going with the previous conversation you could do a secondary exhibit for ocelot.
Or as you seemingly already have all in game animals in that would fit here, you could do an implied exhibit for coati and hope we get them in the next dlc.

What about giant otters? They do live on the Colombian part of the Amazon region and you could even use the water pond then, just make it deeper. Not sure if it's big enough though.
Edit: or like @Marvinb suggested, build a second habitat for the ocelot.
Maybe not such a bad idea to leave it empty and who knows what future DLC's hopefully will bring. Indeed a coati would fit perfect here and if needed the aviary next to it can be made smaller 4-8 meters and still keep it big enough.

Here's a rough plan of my South America area.
A little bit changed compared to the first plan but I like it more. You may notice that I organized the habitats in a specific way. The idea is to present different ecosystems within and around the building. There is tropical rainforest with ocelot, monkeys, sloth etc which than flows into tropical wetlands (Pantanal) with tapirs, giant otters and bush dogs and lastly there is the Cerrado like dry forest and savannah represented by giant anteater, greater rhea, maned wolf and maybe peccary.

I HATE building background areas... but i like to have them in my zoos... but for the most part i can't find good ones in the workshop.

So anyone got plans for the new animals?

Sadly none of the animals really fit into my current zoo, so they will probably have to wait for the next project 😄
I have added a raccoon dog enclosure to the side of my nocturnal house which has some enclosures outside for small mammals. The macaques will get an island in the centre of the zoo (not built yet) and the deer will be in one paddock, the blackbuck and nilgai in another on the edge of the zoo. Probably no honey badger in this zoo and definitely no elephant.

Good thing I barely get anywhere with my zoos, so I'm always open for changes! Really want to do a Asian wetlands section in one of my zoos, one part for India and another for SEA and south China. Wished we got the Sumatran rhino in this pack as it would be a good addition to an ancient Chinese floodplain with the PD deer (same with a Chinese Giant Salamander).

Yes - sort of.

I want to do a general "plains" exhibition. Two mixed African habitats (giraffes/zebras/wildebeest/ostriches, and rhinos/antelope of some kind), one Asian (rhinos/blackbuck/nilgai/peafowl). I also want to finally do my full "Little Japan" concept with habitats built around a garden (macaques, cranes, tanuki, and a walkthrough fallow deer habitat as a stand-in for the sika deer). And in the same zoo, I have a vague plan to have some "older style" paddock habitats for endangered hoofstock, which could now include Père David's deer (as well as the usual Przewalski's horses, addax, etc.).

Edit: Oh, and I'll definitely be putting in lion-tailed macaques somewhere. Might mix them with Malayan tapirs, that could be cool.

My two current projects are the Dier zoo (only african animals) and Terres Froides zoo (only cold climate animal)... The badger fits on the former, who's also halfway complete, while tanuki fits on terres, but the project is already filled with canines.

So yeah, unless i decid that's the honey badger is actually worth of a headache, none of the animals will apears for now.

As for plans overall, probably will use the ungulates on my planned asian zoo.

Welp guess who cant play the game without trying to make a plan at the end of the session?
Currently in the mood for south america like pretty much everyone so i segmented a possible new "themed" area with the 4 yellow enclosures, which will either feature domestics (waterbuffalo, pig, goat, chicken) or a rag tag team of south american animals (rhea + maras in my heart, both saki and capuchin in a monkey row enclosure or a small monkey house with a habitat on each side, ocelot defenetly in a row enclosure and a 4. mystery option from the existing south american animals i havent decided on yet/implied coati enclosures cause you cant go wrong with that.
For the asian stuff, pink is the malayan tapir outdoor area, orange are outdoor cages for the free flying birds, red will be a mixed enclosure for "mouflon" and an "asian deer" with big horn and fallow deer as stand ins and i havent decided for the purple. Originally i intended for the binturong, but i dont really feel them right now even if there are no other better options in my mind right now besides an implied fishing cat enclosure, but im very much open for suggestions.

Guess who got his asian deer

It’s a long ways off given I want to build Australia, South America, Africa, and Reptile areas beforehand (who knows if I’ll ever reach that point my goodness 😭), but I intend to build an “Asia Canyon” area in my California-based San Ramentos Zoo eventually, and this pack will buff its animal roster nicely.
It’ll have a focus on both India and China, with the highlights being Pandas, Sloth Bears, and a former Elephant exhibit (love me some made-up zoo lore) converted into an Asian Savanna with Rhinos, Blackbuck, Nilgai, and free-roaming Peafowl. Macaques separately, as well. Pygmy Elephant and Tanuki are the only ones that won’t make it in somewhere, I’m afraid.

Almost all of them actually. My current zoo doesn't have a strong concept, so I can include new animals quite easily.
The Pere David's deer fit perfectly to my planned ungulate area (which is supposed to be an older part of the zoo with those classical ungulate enclosures).
I've planned an Indian rhino habitat anyways, so I'll include the blackbuck and nilgai there.
The honey badger will move into another already planned area - a house dedicated to smaller African animals.
And the macaque will get an habitat, too, probably next to baboons on a classical monkey island.

Currently working on a city zoo that has small sections of countries & regions. Right now I have:
Both Flamingo's as centre habitat & Temporary entrance animals with 4 exhibits & Swans

China (Chinese pangolin, red panda, red-crowned crane, binturong)
Patagonia (Rhea/Alpaca, Armadillo(stand-in))
Kenya (Warthog, Dik-dik, Aardvark)
Himalayas (Takin/Markhor, Snow leopard, Pallas cat)
South Africa (Meerkat, Zebra, African Penguin)
Brasil (Sloth, Boa/Centipede/Iguana, Capuchin/Capybara, Saki/Dwarf Caiman, Bush dog)
African Swamps (Pygmy Hippo/Red river hog)
France (Red deer/Wild Boar)

I already had plans for Indonesia & India sections, but put them off knowing this DLC could add some new plans to those areas. I'm probably gonna try to finish France/Europe first with the badger, red fox & walkthrough fallow deer/swans/chickens and then start on either Indonesia or India. Also depending on if I decide to get the DLC right away or not.

I'm currently doing a zoo based on my wild animal encounters, each habitat is designed to mimic the real environment where I saw the animal as much as possible. Here's the plan in order of display (and order of wildlife enccounters for the fun of it):

Currently finishing the first trail. I use substitutes where the animal I want is not in the game.

How many habitat species can you fit before the game becomes unplayable? I never did so many
