Engineers have driven me away yet again. Fix this broken system.

Ooooh...that must be why the game's been dead as a doornail for the last 5 years. Because people really like engineerings. Go google "Elite dangerous engineering" and count up how many threads say they hate it, and how many say it's great. It won't take long.

I think it was the Odyssey bugs that did that. Player numbers are increasing now but yes, it's not what it was pre-Odyssey. Nice to see fdev really making efforts though in the last couple of years.

This, but unironically.

Over the last 5 years, the game People Playground (a stupid flash game) had a higher concurrent player count.

Great to hear that you already found proper replacement for ED to dive in.
With such approach we can definitely say that on background of Minecraft steadily growing and Tetris miserably failing ED officially pronounced dead. Amen. Be seeing ya...

I suggest, but unironically, you go play that. Do not waste any additional second od your precious game time and go play modern porrasturvat. Please, go ahead. Unironically. If thats the depth and complexity you expect from a game then grab your binky, grab your blankie, and enjoy. Noone is stopping you.

You seem to be under the impression that I play that game, for some reason? I'm pointing out that a stupid game kids play during school has a HIGHER PLAYER COUNT than this huge space sim. You're insulting me, when I'm pointing out to you that people don't like this game, no matter how much you cope and try and tell yourself it's good.

Bees dont lose time explaining to flies that honey is better than poop.
If player count isnt an indicator of better game then dont bring that up. If it is, then go play better games.
Respectfully.
It never fails to surprise me how people dare to bring that up like some kind of argument as if it should justify their lazy, lacking, weak attitude towards one of the uncomparably best games that ever was.
It never fails to surprise me how people dare to bring that slop up when talking player count, when there is banana.
Your argument is weak.

The material grind has been made easier. But you still have to grind engineer reputation to even unlock them. Yesterday I wanted to unlock Plasma Accelerator engineering, but Bill Turner requires you unlock and rank up 2 other engineers, unlock the Alioth permit, and then mine 50 tons of Bromelite. All things I don't want to do. It's what finally broke the proverbial camel's back.
Play in Legacy mode. If you go back far enough, you could play as if there were no Engineering at all.

After playing from release, and pre-buying all expansions since I have just now acquired g5 Pulse Lasers, and Frags. I still don't have the PA guy. Unless you are a top tier PvP-only player, maxed out engineering simply isn't required. We can dominate any PvE situation without Engineering, getting up-grades just makes it all the easier. Have you noticed what g2 PAs do to NPCs?

My materials problem has always been with Raw Mats. I Mine, and Prospect a bit, but not enough to keep the coffers ful (really not enough). Recently I was introduced to a crashed 'Conda site for raw mats. It was excellent. Go to the site and do some easy shoot & scoop. FDev increased the number of cargo racks available, so it's terribly efficient. Get intimate with your local Materials Trader, it makes it convenient to convert the mats you got, for the mats you need.

Or you can go and invest yourself into a game that doesn't ask too much of you. It's your choice.

To be constructive.

Personally I think engineering was dumbed down to the point that it's just silly at this stage. Further simplification of this game loop would just make things worse imo.

One improvment that I would be eager to see is the ability to sell engineer materials by players in their FC's.

P.S. Please refrain from personal remarks. We can joke, we can be ironic, as long as it's not aimed at other users directly. If in doubt, refresh your orum rules knowledge :)
