I'm gonna be honest here, but most people seen to request the asian lion because is the first subspecie they can name, ans also because it's barely distinguible from the lion we have ingame.

If people really wanted a unique or interesting new lion, we would see the Tsavo lion be more popular (some could argue they already are ingame, but so does the asiatic.)

Yeah, but remember that PlanZo caters to everyone, not only animal nerds. The casual player won't know what an Indochinese tiger is, but they'd recognize a Siberian or Bengal...

I mean, look at it this way: every single pack, even the extremely niche packs like Oceania and Southeast Asia, feature 1 or 2 animals that people will instantly recognize, drawing in all types of customers

Maybe reason why people defend in-game split between both tigers so much, but wild boar despite clearly being eurasian one has tropical tag based on its literally almost bald cousin from southeast asia lul.

I mean, I think there is an element of how different species are presented in zoos and the media - charismatic megafauna (big cats, wolves, brown bear, elephants, giraffes etc) tend to be presented in a more granular way because they are the star attractions so making them seem extra special adds to the appeal.

This is the root cause. The popularity of what people tend to call "ABC animals" started from arbitrary designation status of significance that evolved into a positive feedback loop that continues to be a self-fulfilling provider of their popularity. Sadly, it's hard to break millennia of conditioning.

Man I don’t know what standards you’re working with but both elephants and ESPECIALLY the Asian elephant still look incredible to me

Yeah they look good, just not up to date with the current models being released.
I’d be happy NOT to get a new elephant. But I’d also be happy with it coming. Since I know base game updates aren’t happening.
Just a bit tired of having some really great looking filler species in my zoo, whilst all the megafauna besides the ones from Europe and South America look a bit worse for wear.

I know I’m in the losing camp here. And I know that most people think any ‘reskins’ or ‘clones’ (or whatever we’re calling them now) are not worthy additions. And that is also a fine opinion.
It’s simply what species I want to see in game. Whether or not the African Lion looked good, I’d still want the Asiatic. I’d want them both in PZ2. I think they are both brilliant animals to have, and give us as players versatility to what kind of lion habitat we want to build.
Same with the Eurasian Brown Bear, Sumatran Tiger, Masai Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra.
Same as how it WAS with the American Flamingo.
I think most ‘clones’ add value in one way or another. And I’m happy to get any new animals in game at all!

I know, but it is likely we get a generic Asia pack the more I think about it. They would finally give the Philippines some representation. Northern Luzon Cloud Rat would be even better

I would love a Northern Luzon Cloud Rat as they are getting their own exhibit in World of Darkness in the Bronx Zoo. Its only a 10 mile drive so its gonna be awesome!

If the people of Planet zoo boycotts the product it will be like any type of Gaming resistance. People will say they wont buy it and then they'll wait until Launch time to buy it immediately. This happened to Call of Duty, The Nintendo Switch 2 and more.

Yep, Jungleworld’s nocturnal gallery, Mousehouse’s Nocturnal Gallery, World of Darkness and I believe the southeast Asian aviary in world of birds.

I'm guessing they'll be moving something new into at least one of those new habitats...

Sidenote: I wish more Planet Zoo players put animals in random spots, or multiple areas of a zoo with different habitats/habitat styles. It's such a fun way to build lore!
